Regardless of whatever particularly weak point you have where Satan attacks you, ultimately, it is your choice whether or not to plunge into that sin.

As far as I have always been aware, the "cheese" isn't even really milk as much as it is vegetable oil and food colouring and a smattering of preservatives, with the smallest part of it being skim milk.

Furthermore, beef hamburger comes from young oxen, not calves. That would otherwise make it _veal_.

And if you must be particularly legalistic about it, the verse(s) say(s):

Specifically, the part we are concerned with is in agreement in three times in the Bible, for which it is a fact (for on the testimony of three witness, every fact is established) talks about "not seething a kid in his mother's milk".

This is the TORAH law, applicable to the Jews under the Covenant of the Law, and not the TALMUD, which was the supposed "Oral Tradition" (the perverse Babylonian writings acquired during that particular diaspora) finally put to writ by Maimonides in the 10th century.

The TALMUD, and other Rabbinic commentators after Maimonides added additional restrictions about actually consuming dairy products within a certain time frame after consuming meat (these are NOT in the Bible).

Considering another translation, the World English Bible, it reads as:

"----- ... You shall not boil a young goat in it's mother's milk (Exodus 34:26b, WEB) -----"

Let us go a step further and dissect the Masoretic text (Hebrew) behind this verse:

Seethe: (Strong's Hebrew Concordance- #01310) bashal [baw-shawl'] / a primitive root; properly, to boil up; hence, to be done in cooking; figuratively, to ripen: --bake, boil, bring forth, roast, seethe, sod (be sodden).

kid: (Strong's Hebrew Concordance- #01423) gdiy [ghed-ee'] / from the same as 01415; a young goat (from browsing) :--kid.

mother: (Strong's Hebrew Concordance- #00517) 'em [ame] / a primitive word; a mother (as the bond of the family); in a wide sense (both figuratively and literally) :-- dam, mother

milk: (Strong's Hebrew Concordance- #02461) chalab [khaw-lawb'] / from the same as 02459; milk (as the richness of kine):-- cheese, milk, sucking.

By a very wild stretch, you might conclude that this is talking about frying a burger with a wad of hydrogenated vegetable oil congealed skim milk...

...but context matters: literally, these verses are talking about killing a baby goat, and dunking it in a pot of it's mother's milk, and boiling the critter up, and then eating it.

The literal execution of action proscribed by this verse, would seem rather cruel.

I think we can be relatively certain that the ancient Hebrews did not have Big Macs in the first millennium BC, and even if they did, it would not be literally barred in the sense of boiling up a young goatling in milk would be.

Really, this is a big distraction from the important part of the Gospels... you are straining out the gnats whilst swallowing the camel.

And for Gentile believers (who are the bulk of Christians in this current Age of Grace, which started from the Day of Christ's Resurrection) -- there are no particular dietary restrictions or any other restrictions imposed by Mosaic Law on Christians who believe truly in the salvation given them by the Lord Jesus.

Much of the TORAH Law is impossible to keep due to the destruction/non-existence of the Temple in Jerusalem. Mixed fabric law? Specifically, Leviticus 19:19 addresses not mixing wool and linen. This law points to the required linens that were to be worn by the Levite Priests, and is contained within a pile of other laws concerning not mixing certain other things. The core lesson behind these laws was not to mix the holy with the profane.

Some of these laws go beyond the scope of what was mandated to the Israelites, and has bearing on civilized society in general.

Particularly germane to this discussion is Deuteronomy 22:5, which forbids transvestitism - men wearing women's clothing and vice-versa. The verse defines it as an ABOMINATION:

"----- The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God. (Deuteronomy 22:5, KJV) -----"

"Abomination" is rendered from the Hebrew "towebah [to-ay-baw'], meaning something disgusting, morally abhorrent, loathsome. That, and that God says "for ALL that do so are abomination... to God" gives it scope beyond just the first millennium BC theocratic nation of Israel.

In like manner, so does Leviticus 18:22, using the exact same word, towebah, to define homosexual acts (specifically, sodomy).

Moreover, there are plenty verse in New Testament which further indicate God's disgust for homosexual (and heterosexual) immorality.

While there is a plausible Biblical argument for genetic, or patrilineal transmission of certain vulnerabilities to specific gross sins, weakness to sin is no excuse for the commission thereof.

Gays may not have a choice in the particular vulnerability ro sexual sin that may be born with, but a truly redeemed man (or woman) in Christ shall be cleansed (1 John 1:9) and transformed by God's Word (Romans 12:1-2) should he truly seek to be made free from his sins.

It is the same for drunkards who give up the bottle and turn to Christ to be filled with His Spirit instead (Ephesians 5:18), or for idolaters who give up their idols, or whoremongers who forsake their whoremongering, or thieves who forsake their thievery, and so forth.

Add to that that the bulk of what modern Jews observe today as the Law is not the TORAH law, but the man-made religious add-on bits from the TALMUD.

However, the most important thing to take away from this is that there is a division between the things which are inherently sinful, particularly sexual immorality, be it fornication, pornography, adultery, homosexual acts, "swinging", polyamory, to name but a few... and the minutiae of Jewish Law which serves us Christians today to teach us about how God seeks for His people to discern between the holy and profane, the impossibility of keeping the whole of God's Law in our own strength, and the utter need for God's grace unto salvation.

The key to keeping the Old Testament is to "major on the majors, and minor on the minors". Nobody sacrifices goats and sheep and oxen in Jerusalem anymore, much less keep the Sukkoth or First Fruits or the New Moon festivals anymore; that culture has been displaced (although it will be re-instated in a limited form when Jesus returns as King) nor do the dietary rules bind Gentiles beyond a few simple things disclosed in the New Testament.

The major league things though, address sins like idolatry, sexual immorality, murder, exercising love and kindness for your fellow man, and the like. All of which is taught by Jesus.

When He preached that He did not come to abolish the law, He spoke the truth: during His lifetime and ministry on earth, He never contradicted the Law. His ministry was to the Jew first. For the most part, His fellow Jews rejected Him and His gospel.

Grace was not given to the Gentiles until after His resurrection, and since most Gentile converts are largely ignorant of the huge pile of Jewish laws and customs that informed Judaism and early Christianity, the apostles - moved by the Holy Spirit - saw no compelling need to impose this burden (which arguably, not even the Jews themselves were able to keep) on the new Gentile converts.

But because I believe you to be less willing to receive my counsel, I exhort you to read Acts 15:1-31 for a definitive answer to this issue:

In general, what I find curious about fundies is that apparently the coming of Christ rewrote all the rules - no more kosher living - except the part about being gay. I think we have already danced this particular tune a few times already.

But here goes anyway, since some are hard of hearing and/or pretending to be stupid:

(D) All of the above would apply, if you are referring to the ancient theocracy of Israel which existed from about 1400 BC to AD 120 at the extreme outside.

Certain restrictions, particularly the ones primarily directed at the Levitical Priesthood, and some of the general ones directed at the "children of Israel" on mixed fabrics and what to eat, do not necessarily apply to Gentiles who believe in Christ, although they certainly have a basis in healthy living.

Cheeseburgers in particular, could be eaten by Jews since they are made from beef (oxen/cows, animals which chew the cud and split their hooves), as can be the cheese made from the milk of the same animals.

While Christ's coming did not suspend the Mosaic Law (it applied to Jews under the Temple Worship system, which was done away with largely after General Titus (Vespasian) destroyed it in AD 70) - and while certain aspects of it may still apply to Jews living today, those living under grace are under a greater Law, the Law of the Spirit.

I suggest reading Romans 6 to understand this more clearly.

Old Testament Law was primarily intended as a guide to Israel to teach them to be a holy nation belonging to God, but moreover, it serves to teach us that we, as a sinful people, cannot keep God's perfect law.

As a model of criminal jurisprudence, it is probably not a bad model for generating a healthy fear of God's justice, and for reducing the draw for certain people to engage in criminal acts, if they are ever mindful of the penalty for their actions, should they be caught, tried, and found guilty.

Stoning disobedient children would probably keep them mindful of their parents and less willing to slut themselves around (although I blame most of that on their parents who generally have the morals of snails themselves) and less likely to gun down their classmates or sass their elders.

I think that for our society, though, some short but quality time with a leather belt or a firm switch across their backsides would do them as much good as it did me or many people my age and older.

This could also be extended to adult offenders as well, caning or flogging folks for minor offenses (petit larceny, disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct, gross indecency, excessive public drunkenness, fraud, those sorts of things) fourfold restitution for property crimes (grand larceny, vandalism, etc) and the death penalty for serious crimes (murder, rape, sex offenses against children, production of pornography, treason) and fines and banishment for other offenses which do not necessarily fit the scope of the previous categories.
