And So It Begins

It would appear that the Clintons are at least floating the idea that she will eventually drop out of the race. That's how I interpret Carville's remarks and another recent report that Hillary hinted she may leave after WV and KY. That report was based upon a campaign video and pretty thin. The Carville remarks aren't.

With that in mind, it's time for the liberal media to do its job and start playing the race card for Obama. Gawd! If Obama were to win, why not just call him President Victim? The MSM is going to do everything it can to guilt people into supporting Obama because he's their guy and they also love beating the racism drum.

Here's the worst: In Muncie, a factory town in the east-central part of Indiana, Ross and her cohorts were soliciting support for Obama at malls, on street corners and in a Wal-Mart parking lot, and they ran into "a horrible response," as Ross put it, a level of anti-black sentiment that none of them had anticipated.

"The first person I encountered was like, 'I'll never vote for a black person,' " recalled Ross, who is white and just turned 20. "People just weren't receptive."

I have a news flash for the news guys. That white guilt thing isn't going to play. If Obama is going to win, and I am far from sure he can, he's going to have to earn it. I don't believe he has the experience or the positions to do it. Of course, that's assuming we ever get to hear a real position from him on anything.

All hail President Platitude. The policies the guy is advocating are still wrong for America. In about ten years his crap might sell, given the direction of the country. But demographics may not yet be enough in his favor.

There might be just enough traditional Americans left who love freedom and independence to keep Obama out of the White House. Hopefully his positions and his baggage will keep him out. We don't need an empty suit with pie in the sky rhetoric as President right now.

Who would have thought just one year ago the the Clinton dynasty would fall apart at the seams like this. I guess Bill's baggage was to much to overcome. She tried to move to the left of Barry but it wasn't possible as he is as leftist as they get!

How is this the race card? Or white guilt? The events in that article really happened. Those incidents aren't moves in a game. And news stories aren't designed to elicit guilt; they report facts. These are the facts. Even SNL can see it.

"--- She tried to move to the left of Barry but it wasn't possible as he is as leftist as they get! ---"

Barry "Heinrich" Obama is looking over his right shoulder at V.I. Lenin on some days.

Clinton fatigue is real and growing by the minute. It will be real good to see them be defeated. Bill Clinton is like Madonna he won't go away.

This claim of yours, Confused, is completely unfounded:

"The events in that article really happened. Those incidents aren't moves in a game. And news stories aren't designed to elicit guilt; they report facts. These are the facts. Even SNL can see it."

(1) There is no evidence presented that all of these things, or even one of them, reported mostly by CAMPAIGN WORKERS, really happened. I am white. I know a lot of whites. How come none of them, not one, has ever told me they would never vote for Obama because he is black?

(2) Of course news stories are designed to elicit guilt. The Wapo and NYT do it all the time and have for years. TIME ragazine [sp intentional] used to use this ad campaign, "TIME cries and let's you care."

(3) Whether SNL sees something or doesn't see anything means nothing.

I am white. I know a lot of whites. How come none of them, not one, has ever told me they would never vote for Obama because he is black?

I am male. I know a lot of males. How come none of them has ever told me he's raped a woman? There must not be any rapists! Rape is imaginary!

With Obama you get what you see. It was naive of the press and most of the Dems to believe that race would not be an issue. Just as trying to pretend that Hillary is not a woman or the the wife of Bill Clinton. Both have too much hide to carry to market. I'm tired of the MSM trying to frame this election as something it is not, and am already weary of the rehashing of old issues involving black vs. white. The political reality is that Blacks will vote for Obama 97% but 88% of Americans are white and he will come up woefully short in the general. The fact that Hillary did not survive the primaries till the convention is strictly the Democrats fault (florida & Michigan). Watching the Dems fail is not nearly as much fun as I thought it would be.

Carville made lots of money being Bill's devil and doing the dirty work. He is from Louisiana and corrupt. It paid off for him and Bill and Hillary. Check the incomes of Congressmen who have been there more than four years. It's millions:

Welcome to the Riehl World. I'm pretty confident Dan's pitched that line of logic somewhere in the archives. Just too lazy to dig it out. Don't worry, just give it time. He repeats himself regularly around here.

*Checks math*
Blacks make up 97% of the Democratic Electorate... but are only 12% of the general population.

Women make up roughly 50% of the population.

Barack Obama is winning the Democratic Primary.

People will always vote for each other if they have similar anatomical features. Ergo, blacks always vote for Obama and women always vote for Clinton.

From all this we are able to conclude that either a) black people make up over 50% of the Democratic Party - and by extension the Democratic Party consists of less than 1 in 4 Americans, b) there are less women in the Democratic Party than black people and therefore the GOP is roughly 85% female, or c) tonynoboloney will follow in the noble footsteps of so many Republicans before him and absolutely fail at math.

However, it still raises the question - who are black women and white men voting for in the Democratic Primary?

Yup, McCain's got this all clinched up. No one donate that many any money or political support. He doesn't need it.

Oh my convoluted math! Boils down to this folks. Obie may or may not win todays primaries but unless Hilda pulls some really nasty tricks out of her caldron, Obie's the dem candidate in the fall. Those of us who've been through a few elections know that anything can happen between now and November and it wouldn't be the first time we were surprised. Can Johnny Mac beat Obie? I have my doubts but who knows what will happen. Where is Johnny? Is he still running?

I'm not convinced either of the authenticity of these claims of racist remarks, etc. If they happened, seems the media or at the very least Chris Matthews would be making hay off of it. I'm cynical enough to suspect that this is just a strategy to elicit votes for Obama based on painting him as an underdog or some such thing. I feel no sympathy or empathy. In other words, i don't look for this to work.

Speaking as a south asian in the post 9/11 America, I know for a fact that a lot of Americans are racists, you guys just like to hide it

axt113,

Racism is an equal opportunity employer, hun.

Ouch, ouch, ouch. Let's hear it McCain fans. How is this going to help McCain?

Per NBC News, Democrat Travis Childers will win the special election in Mississippi's first congressional district!

This is as bad news as the GOP could possibly get at this point. They lost a district that leans 6 points more Republican than the nation as a whole in Illinois in March. They lost a district that leans 7 points more Republican than the nation as a whole earlier this month in Louisiana. Now they lost a district that leans 10 points more Republican than the nation as a whole in Mississippi. If they can't win in Mississippi's first congressional district, where can they win?

Sorry. In my glee to get this news posted I didn't tell the whole story.

Not only is Childers, the Democrat, winning that Mississippi House seat. It's really not even that close. With 94% of the votes in, he's winning by a 6 point margin.

Late Update: Scratch that. With 99% in, it's an 8 point spread. Not even close.

No biggie

Childers has spoken against abortion and for gun owners' rights -- positions that are nearly identical to his opponent's.

Lala,

They lost a district that leans 6 points more Republican than the nation as a whole in Illinois in March.

They lost a district that leans 7 points more Republican than the nation as a whole earlier this month in Louisiana.

Now they lost a district that leans 10 points more Republican than the nation as a whole in Mississippi.

No biggie?

Bwahahahahahahahahha.

"Reagan Democrat"

Bear in mind that not all Southron Democrats are necessarily San Francisco Liberals.

Some of them are even significantly to the right of what passes for a moderate Republican here in NY.

"Bear in mind that not all Southron Democrats are necessarily San Francisco Liberals."

DAmmit Seek! Don't tell him that, he's on the edge as it is.

Jharp, don't pay any attention...they're all the same, really they are, don't worry about it. Just like here, our Lt Governor got there by being Beverly Purdue (R) now she's running for Gov as Bev Perdue (D)....See, no difference at all...Abbreviate the name, change a letter and Voila!!! You've got a real live donkey...

Continously confused writes:
"I am male. I know a lot of males. How come none of them has ever told me he's raped a woman? There must not be any rapists! Rape is imaginary!"

Only a goof like Moe could come up with an analogy this badly flawed. Rape is against the law, one of the most serious felonies. People who commit this type of crime usually like to keep it on the QT, don't they? One white telling another white that he doesn't plan to vote for candidate X or Y because of race is not against the law and there would be no reason to keep it a deep secret.

But here is something to keep confused even more confused: What are blacks telling us when they vote 90% for Obama? No other group, even his own party, can come anywhere near close to such a large margin for any candidate, except perhaps in Russia or Saddam's pre-war Iraq.

seek/willie,

I'm well aware of your point and you should have known it.

You think we've got San Francisco liberal democrats here in Indiana?

In my opinion our republican Senator Lugar is more liberal than our democratic Senator Bayh.

And don't think I have such love for the Democratic party. I've said before but it's just the past 6-7 years that has me totally disgusted with the republicans. And for the reasons I have mentioned before.

Hell, sometimes I think I'm a liberal republican.

Say, Moe, here is another hate America candidate for your party. I am certain this new victim is suffering terribly here in this terribly cruel environment.

"Speaking as a south asian in the post 9/11 America, I know for a fact that a lot of Americans are racists, you guys just like to hide it."

Bet axt113 hates it here and wants to get back to South Asia (wherever that may be) as soon as possible. Oh no? axt113 wants to stay here? Gee that's strange.

Say, Race-card, Double-Post Harpo, is that where you are from, South Asia?

"--- Hell, sometimes I think I'm a liberal republican. ---"

Labels and (parenthetical letter)s are deceptive indeed.

As for me, I may be a registered Republican, but have given some serious thought to changing that to Constitutionalist.

Chuck Baldwin in '08

http://www.baldwin2008.com

Hey Harp-O that explains you being a closet Sean Hannity watcher! I think most republicans would agree that the overall lack of vision by the current party leadership is disturbing.
The "get er' done" philosophy that was present when Newt pushed through the "contract with America" is long gone. The current congress is staffed with a collection of partisan hacks that would rather suck the public teet dry getting all of those earmarks through.
Unless the republicans see the light and start to lay out another contract with the people you and your like minded friends may get your wish.

"I'm well aware of your point and you should have known it."

Aw come on Harpie are you adopting chrissy's sense of humor? Gotta let me make fun of your partisanship once in a while dude. You have to admit that you're looking for a sombrero towear while riding your burro to the polls in November.......

Seeker,

My good friend grew up in La Porte, IN (same as Chuck Baldwin) and is about the same age and it's not a big town.

Can't wait to ask him if he knows the dude.

"--- Can't wait to ask him if he knows the dude. ---"

He's known by a few more people than just your friend in La Porte, enough to get him the CP nomination over Alan Keyes.

And I realize that he has almost zero chance of getting elected.

But I'll support him because of his constitutionally compliant principles, which are lacking in any of the Big Three.

The joke of it all is the insistence that we're going to see a GOP revival in '08. When you lose the Republican vote in deep red Mississippi to a man that was linked loudly and continuously to Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama's scary black preacher, you can safely announce you're in trouble.

Let's review: Tom DeLay's district? Blue. Dennis Hastert's district? Blue. The Missouri Senatorial race went blue in '06 along with 4 out of the other 5 closely contested Senatorial seats. The state of Texas is looking at a competitive senate race between Mexican Iraq Vet Noriega and Big Time Bushie John Cornyn. The incumbent President is polling with approval in the high 20s and is below the 50% line in every single state.

And in all of this, the wingnuts continue to insist that '08 will be a windfall year for Republicans. Wow are you guys in for a ride come November.

Islamo,

What I don't get is the GOP is still pushing the same failed and unpopular policies.

It seem like a suicide to me.

Maybe they can't even stand themselves anymore.

".....'08 will be a windfall year for Republicans."

Ah they probably can see the writing on the wall but without "hope" we cannot expect any "change" otherwise they needn't even bother.

"--- What I don't get is the GOP is still pushing the same failed and unpopular policies.

It seem like a suicide to me. ---"

People are essentially stupid.

They cannot see that the Dem policies will be even worse off, for the most part, than the GOP policies.

What we need is "freedom" and "liberty", not "hope" or "change" or "stay the course".

The law of this land is the Constitution, despite what either party's partisans would have us believe... and it is a dashed shame that we, as an electorate, have collectively seemed to have forgotten that.

seeker,

"People are essentially stupid."

"They cannot see that the Dem policies will be even worse off, for the most part, than the GOP policies."

Please elaborate.

Occupation of Iraq.

Health care.

Taxes.

Civil liberties.

All favor the dems. Except, of course, if you are Warren Buffett.

"---
Please elaborate.

Occupation of Iraq.

---"

OK, here goes:

Occupation of Iraq -- I do not expect this to go away any time fast, even for all the election year rhetoric. This is not necessarily a partisan thing as much as it is a logistical item (i.e. safely getting all of our materiel and men safely out of Iraq). Having a Saigon-style withdrawal would be bad on all accounts.

Health care: If we go for all out socialized medicine in one swoop, it could get very ugly. A more moderated approach or a two-tiered single-payer basic plan operating alongside the existing plan may mean less upheaval, but still require excessive mandates, which by nature, are at odds with personal liberties (for example, the liberty to be non-included in a federal health care plan).

Taxes: will skyrocket and have potential to collapse the already unstable economy. Cash flow will be stifled as middle class (or those "stealth rich") Americans grossing over $60k/year have to work even more months just to pay Uncle Sam before they can take their fair cut. According to my records, I've just now started to make money for myself for this year... everything prior to that was taken by Uncle Sam's money machine. And it gets worse for investors who have helped the economy thrive with the 15% Cap. Gains Tax.

Civil liberties: Don't expect the Bush power grabs to be reversed, nor for the secret state security apparatus to go away. Power once gained is seldom given up without bloodshed. Clinton (both of them) must be gurgling with glee at the thought of all the power suckered away from the plebeians as a result of 9-11 into the hands of the Executive.

And I do not think that Obama will be to hasty to undo all those executive orders when it comes time to settle the hash of people on his dirt list either.

Thanks and my reply.

McCain has made it clear he is OK with staying another 100 years. Both dems have promised an orderly withdrawal asap.

"Health care: If we go for all out socialized medicine in one swoop, it could get very ugly."

No one is proposing socialized medicine.

"Taxes: will skyrocket and have potential to collapse the already unstable economy. So you think Warren Buffett paying 17 % tax on 46 million and his secretary paying 30% on 60,000 is a fair tax system.

Taxes will go up, no doubt. They have to. We've blown through $4 trillion in the last seven years. Interest alone is 200 billion. The democratic tax proposals do not target the middle class. They target the wealthiest.

"Civil liberties: Don't expect the Bush power grabs to be reversed, nor for the secret state security apparatus to go away. Power once gained is seldom given up without bloodshed. Clinton (both of them) must be gurgling with glee at the thought of all the power suckered away from the plebeians as a result of 9-11 into the hands of the Executive."

And I do not think that Obama will be to hasty to undo all those executive orders when it comes time to settle the hash of people on his dirt list either.

That is exactly why most reasonable folks were and are against Bush's power grab in the first place.

And the democrats have clearly objected and fought them all the way.

"--- 100 years ---"

I see that as rhetoric/fodder for the Hannity/Limbaugh crowd. I do think that he wants to wrap this mess up, but is willing to see the mission done in terms of standing up an Iraqi military and government with some hope of sustaining itself.

In like manner, I believe that any rhetoric about "getting the troops home in 90 days or less" is just that ... fodder for the Kos Kiddies. The best we can hope for (an orderly and defendable withdrawal) will take at least a year, maybe 18 months to do. Perhaps even two years, if done with some sort of balancing act that allows for some degree of face-saving between ourselves and the Iraqis.

The price to be paid for a faster withdrawal will be the Iraqis recognizing that they can never, ever trust another thing that the US government says vis-a-vis supporting its interests against the Islamists.

"--- No one is proposing socialized medicine. ---"

Perhaps not, but a candidate with the agenda furthest to the left (and Obama comes closest to being a socialist) lowers the bar considerably toward morphing a simple single-payer system into something far more reaching and invasive.

"--- So you think Warren Buffett paying 17 % tax on 46 million and his secretary paying 30% on 60,000 is a fair tax system. ---"

Absolutely yes. Because 17% of $46,000,000 USD is going to be much, much more (about 7,820,000 USD) than the bracketed income tax of someone making $60,000 USD (something in the neighborhood of $15,000 USD, perhaps less with appropriate deductions)

$7.8M USD can buy a few more rounds of ammo than $15k.

"--- That is exactly why most reasonable folks were and are against Bush's power grab in the first place. ---"

Bush also promised us a "humble foreign policy", but did quite the opposite. Frankly, I'm ill-disposed to think that Hillary would undo any of the power grabs Bush attained, much less Congress being able to overturn them (they won't and they can't) ... and Obama being even more a socialist: well, they don't cotton much to turning in their excess powers either.

In short, we the electorate, should be able to discern the rhetoric and the campaign feed-lot pablum from the candidates' records and the general failing of human nature not to use and abuse power.

Contrary to the _typical_ view of human nature espoused by most humanists, human beings are generally very lousy, cruddy, sinful and evil beings. The only spark of good that we can hope to have is blank slate of childhood (soon corrupted) and most importantly, the saving grace of being able to turn to Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sin and the regeneration of our souls unto a new life in Him.

"I have a news flash for the news guys. That white guilt thing isn't going to play."

I think all the press will really do is pass along whatever guilt-spin Obama's people try to place on events. There's be exceptions, of course. Frank Rich will beat the drum like a good soldier. But anyway, you're right, this sort of thing tends to be counterproductive. You just can't 'guilt trip' 70% of the public. You'll get a backlash.

The Dems, and especially Obama, are really falling apart at the seams. McCain should get elected, unless the Republicans prove especially incompetent. (Of course, THAT is always possible, too.)

The Republicans will play the White Racist Card but the Dems will trump it with the Bush Card.
