Obama seems to have lost some of his glow in the eyes of many. Many might expect Michelle Malkin to be unimpressed with Obama's latest response to the Wright issue.
But looking at Memeorandum, the disenchantment seems to be spread around.
Honestly, this just doesn't add up for Obama. His connection with Wright was either very close, or he's the kind of individual who doesn't care about who baptizes his children, marries him, etc. And that would fly in the face of the image he's created -, of a man who cares about everything, all creatures great and small.
The O-gasm might have been nice while it lasted for some on the Left. But the parties over. The lights came up. They're now finding themselves in bed with just another coyote ugly politician. And there's another one with much more experience in the wings that's been around seemingly forever: Hillary Clinton.
Only people as deranged as Andrew Sullivan, or Glenn Greenwald are buying his nosense.
I'll hold off predicting which dog the Dems go home with for now. But I suspect either way, they end up screwed in November.
Also, assuming some libs will respond to this post with the poll of the day showing Obama and or Clinton as a likely winner in the General - give me a break. Those polls aren't worth the paper they are printed on, or the HTML it took to code the web page they're on.
The Democrat's chickens have come home to roost.

"I'll hold off predicting which dog the Dems go home with for now. But I suspect either way, they end up screwed in November."
Put the pipe away.
Clinton leads McCain by 10 points in the states with brains and electoral votes.
That'd be New York, California, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida, New Jersey, and the entire Northeast.
Do the math.

"The Democrat's chickens have come home to roost."
Now THAT's the most truthful thing any of us have heard in a long, long time.
Well said, Dan!

Obama Rama Ding Dong:
“Obama would be a catastrophe. A sick cross between David Dinkins and Jimmy Carter. A vacant suit masquerading as a messiah. There is nothing to this guy. He got into college and law school in an atmosphere of extreme affirmative action. He accomplished nothing in the private sector, beyond what perfectly ordinary lawyers do all over the US. He has no history as an effective politician. He has no business in the White House. He isn’t even fit to be a cabinet secretary. And what little record he has tells us he wants to impose worn-out, destructive, completely discredited socialist policies on us. If “change” means going back the Johnson administration, change is what this guy is all about. Ralph Nader is more credible.”
The best summation of Candidate Ding Dong yet.

On Brains & Electoral Votes, you mean the ones that are socialist bent and heavily reliant on
Welfare and the Dole? Tell me that is the best use of Tax Dollars again.

"...the states with brains..."
Yep, keep that attitude up and you'll lose the election. That's exactly the kind of talk and elitism that has cost the Democrats dearly over the past few election cycles. I just can't believe that you folks with the "oversized" brains haven't figured that out yet.

Here in the "brainless" state of Texas, my grandmother put it this way, Lala:
Birds of a feather flock together.

Harpo hoist by his own petard:
"Clinton leads McCain by 10 points in the states with brains and electoral votes.
That'd be New York, California, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida, New Jersey, and the entire Northeast."
Say, Harpo, don't you live in Indiana? Hahahahaha.
For 'tis the sport to have the enginer
Hoist with his own petard; and 't shall go hard
But I will delve one yard below their mines
And blow them at the moon: O, 'tis most sweet,
When in one line two crafts directly meet. (Shakespeare)
Here is more on the subject of Harpo. I repeat it from another thread lest it be lost. Included is Wahoo's response:
"Wahoo will at times defend Harpo. My opinion is that Harpo is not capable of being defended. That is what I find so offensive about Harpo. Look at this statement by this incorrigible dope, for example:
"Like the $4 trillion the current administration just pissed away.
Posted by: jharp | Monday, April 28, 2008 at 04:51 PM"
Over and over again he has been shown that this statement is incorrect, that it cannot be true under our form of constitutional government. Links have been provided for his convenience. Yet he persists. He goes on, untroubled in his conscience.
At least Moe, LOL, Boob and our other friends, when they, on those so rare occasions, are confronted with incontrovertible refutations will change the subject or use some other device to slip out of the noose. Oh sure they may days later go back to the SOS, but at least they wait for some of the sting to go away. But not friend Harpo. Oh no, Harpo is oblivious to truth, has no shame, and will jump back in with both feet 15 minutes afterward. That is why I believe Harpo has zero sincerity and is dishonest.

Ah, another round of back slapping by the wingnut crowd.
While it is comforting to see that - despite losing your own personal Messiah Romney - you're willing to settle for 71 year old sloppy seconds, I still can't get over the rather pathetic projection.
McCain has anti-Catholic bigot and Rapture Ready Hagee, Obama has civil rights leader and community activist Wright. McCain has a slavishly fawning media, Obama has an energized and activist voting base. McCain is on the public doll for campaign funds while getting free rides from his wife's billion dollar company, Obama is receiving record-breaking fund raising numbers from a nationwide network of grass roots support.
I mean, they're practically the same candidate and yet you can't seem to demonize Obama enough for sins that McCain clearly shares.
Seriously, is all this Obama-hating because he wants to raise the capital gains tax, or do you guys just hate him because he's black? I'm just trying to be clear.

Trooper,
"On Brains & Electoral Votes, you mean the ones that are socialist bent and heavily reliant on Welfare and the Dole?"
You've got it backwards. It's the red states sucking the teat funded by the blue states. You know the blue states that contribute the majority of gross national product and tax revenue.

Other Wingnut Talking Points:
The economy is doing great. You can't trust those phoney unemployment numbers and foreclosure counts.
We're winning in Iraq! Don't look at troop or civilian casaulties or the latest appropriations bill as they are both wildly inaccurate.
If you don't look at the $200 billion dollar budget shortfall, we're breaking even for 2007! We'll have this national debt paid off in no time!
Bush will be remembered as the greatest Preznit EVAR! Approval numbers not withstanding.

Serves 'em right, they ought to secede, and form their own nation, or better yet, join Quebec and form a moonbat heaven on Earth, sure to attract a crowd of teat suckers. And then the nutroots would be free to try all their proposed programs, with nary a bit of opposition. Oh, it would be a glory to behold! Moonbat States of America(MSA).

Yes, it is. It's also the state Lincoln suspended habeas corpus during the Civil War. There were a lot of traitorous support the south types down near the Ohio River. And I guess we ended up stuck with em.

Not here you don't! You have a huge number of republicans, including myself, who were going to vote for McCain but after hearing Obama diss his pastor and seeing McCain not being able to remember his name from day to day, we've joined a republican group called REPUBLICANS for OBAMA!!! They've had an increase in 24% over the last two months. Between a hundred year old demented McCain and Obama, the choice is simple. Obama WINS It's like you tube versus the FEEDING tube!!! AND obama is 8 points ahead of mCCAIN HERE.

Moved here for business about 10 years ago. Worked out well but no need to be here anymore except I have two high school aged kids, a daughter who is a junior and a son a freshman.
And it's dam cheap living and I have a dam good golf group.
Don't want to uproot the kids but most likely I'm outta here after graduation.

"...most likely I'm outta here after graduation."
Harp, I have a liberal friend who has been saying the same thing for 12 years now. His kids have graduated from high school, college and have good jobs, yet here he still is, dissatisfied as hell to hear him tell it, but he's in as tight as a tick on a bloodhound. Hell, we couldn't run him off. He's like you, he likes the cheap living. The 2400 sq. foot brick home on two acres of land he bought for $150,000 would cost him $700,000 or more in the West or Northeast, if he could even buy two acres of land.

Me think the blue states are about to figure out (the hard way) where the eggs, bread and milk on the table comes from. It don't work like the stupid broad in NYC said during the Dairy farm crisis, I get my milk at the store, screw the dairy farmers. You can go to the grocery store but it ain't going to be there. I think the farmers will say 'we barely got enough to feed ourselves', go someplace else. I would tell you to eat each other but most blue staters already do that, in a way. You may end up so poor you have to masturbate the dog to feed the cat.

Scrapiron,
"Me think the blue states are about to figure out (the hard way) where the eggs, bread and milk on the table comes from."
Methinks you don't know much about agriculture in the U.S. Most of the good shit comes from California(blue) though the redstates are quite good at growing the pre hydrogenated vegetable oils(the worst thing to put in your body).
Dairy? Ohio(now blue), Pennsylvania(blue), New York(blue), Wisconsin(blue), Florida(soon to be blue), Illinois(blue).
You redstaters will have plenty to eat. The problem is it's 100% pure shit.
Posted by: jharp | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 07:04 PM
jharp, the center of America is the bread basket of the united states. If you're looking for corn or wheat, you'll be shopping in a red state as likely as not. If you want wine, you'll admittedly be hitting up Napa Valley in California. If you want cotton, you'll be looking to the Gulf Coast and Texas.
But the entire country is deep into agriculture. The very notion that state X is going to starve out state Y is patently stupid. Did you know that New Jersey has the highest horse to human ratio in the United States? Did you care? If New Jersey joined Canada, would America run out of horses?
:p
Posted by: IslamoLlama | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 07:18 PM
"Most of the good shit comes from California...Ohio...Pennsylvania...New York...Florida...Illinois."
The problem with that is you need to look at a county map, harp, and see that all the major food-producing counties in every state...every state, including blue states like California and New York, vote RED. They, along with us evil red staters, will rebel and starve all the blue-state junkies to death. I do take notice that you and Mo live in red states.
Posted by: templar knight | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 07:24 PM
"...would America run out of horses?"
Damn, what a question for a Texan to ask. I took a couple of minutes, and looked out the back window and saw several horses in the pasture. No, I'm not going to run out of horses, and neither is America. We have more horses in Texas than New Jersey, dammit. I want a recount.

LLama, Does this mean we have to stop taking care of roads, bridges, military installations in the rest of the country too? See, jharp was pointing out which states get the most money thrown back at them. A bit inaccurately, I'd add. New Mexico gets the most and DC was listed as an after thought. I'm sure you know that very few people actually live there (just over 1/2 million) thus the point that the money aint going to the teat suckers.

Posted by: WAHOO WILLIE | Thursday, May 01, 2008 at 12:08 AM
this post really reeks of sick desperation. Calling the November election already eh? Please. Obama needs less than 300 delegates to wrap up the nomination. There's approximately 720 delegates that are unpledged, which means he needs substantially less than half of the remaining delegates to win.
He's won basically. The Dem nomination is now at the same stage the Republican nomination was at after Mittens dropped out. (Speaking of which, wasn't he supposed to win the Repub nomination according to your prognostications? Hmm... shows what you know about the American people eh? Maybe being wrong so often would give on pause about making prognostications, but I digress... footnote over).
Once Clinton concedes, the electorate will quickly shift to Obama when they realize that McCain really has no plans to help anybody. Unless you own stock in Halliburton or KBR or in oil. He's finished. It's going to be like Clinton v. Dole for you guys. But yes, try to brush aside polls. What good is asking the opinion of hundreds of people when you can ask one bitter, old, lonely man?

Probably not a well thought out post by myself but, Willie, my friend.
Other than peaches, I believe the blue staters produce a very comparable amount of the good stuff you mentioned.
I like your mention of collards. Good stuff and not much available here. Getting ready to put some in the garden.
And another red state favorite, okra. Tried planting some early and it didn't make it. Will plant more soon.
Making me hungry thinking about my new gardening hobby but the garden is going to have to wait til Friday.
Big golf match tomorrow.

And I don't think it's over by any means.
I'm still kind of hoping for them on one ticket.
Posted by: jharp | Thursday, May 01, 2008 at 12:54 AM
It's over
do the math
295 to win
720+ left
He's going to win big on may 6, probably win over 60% in NC and about 50% in IN. Meaning in 1 day he will likely get 100+ delegates.
Posted by: LOL | Thursday, May 01, 2008 at 01:17 AM
Hard to argue your point and like I said I like them both.
And not trying to be a dick but I think there is still some road to travel.

LOL,
A question my brother and I went over and I'd like your opinion. Others welcome too.
Regarding the super delegates.
Is their duty to vote for the most electable candidate or is their duty to follow the will of the popular vote within their state? Or is it to follow the vote of their own constituents?
In advance, I don't know the answer.
Posted by: jharp | Thursday, May 01, 2008 at 01:37 AM
America will elect a black man some day, but it won't be one with the racial grievances and resentments boiling in Barry Obama.
It was always going to be tough to elect the first black president, plus he's more liberal than any candidate since McGovern, and with all this baggage? Common wisdom says little gaffes like "I voted for it before I voted against it" and saying he invented the internet sunk the last 2 Dems. What is bittercling and Rev. Wright stacked up to those tiny gaffes? A helluva lot of problems.
I really don't see a snowball's chance in hell of Obama getting elected, but there will be rioting in the streets if he's not nominated. There may be rioting in the streets when he's not elected.
The Dems better hope the downticket damage doesn't turn into a bloodbath when McCain wins in a landslide.
All you McCain doubters, it turns out in fact, that McCain is the perfect candidate to pick up the pieces, in fact, probably the only one who could. Rove's piece on McCain today is really good, you should read it. The guy is a class act, of stellar character, and will be a credit to the office of president. I hope he does great things.
About those polls: Dems always do better in Gallup polls than they do at the actual poll booth. You can probably handicap Obama down 5-10pts minimum from what people are telling pollsters to what they'll do behind the curtain.
I never did think Obama could win, now I think he'll be annihilated.
Posted by: docweasel | Thursday, May 01, 2008 at 03:49 AM
Well, for once I have to agree with the weasel. "Rove's piece on McCain today is really good, you should read it."
I'm beginning to feel a bit bad, though, for JustOneNut and all y'all other Obama supporters. It looks like the Dem big-bucks boys are fixin' to put the icepick in Barry's back. All y'all will be so disillusioned...again. The sky will be full of the flying lawyers and especially chaser Boies...again. The word swiftboating will be misused..again, etc, etc.
Happy convention, folks.
