Via The Politico, allegedly Hillary told someone she thinks Obama will get "crushed" in the Fall against McCain:
Here is why: She and Bill Clinton both devoutly believe that Obama’s likely victory is a disaster-in-waiting. Naive Democrats just don’t see it. And a timid, pro-Obama press corps, in their view, won’t tell the story.
But Hillary Clinton won’t tell it, either.
It is beginning to look that way, what with him supposedly dropping big in PA before the pending primary, though I would take the ARG Poll with a big grain of salt.
Putting aside the race issue, Obama has several problems. He's young, inexperienced, and far better working with a teleprompter, than working on his feet. McCain is somewhat the opposite of that.
Also, while some do, personally, I don't think whites will vote for Obama out of some sense of guilt, or desire to show their lack of bias.
In the end, he's never held an executive position, is starting to look rather brash - more ego, than substance - and for now I'm thinking he'll lose on the merits, even if the media will make the race all about race.
In the end, it may not be so.
Becoming the nation's first black president is enough of a challenge for someone to overcome. Doing it when you lack the qualifications and experience is probably too much to ask. I don't believe that many Americans really believe in Affirmative Action, anyhow. And it's starting to look like that's precisely what an Obama nomination by the Dems would be.

"and far better working with a teleprompter, than working on his feet"
As opposed to George Bush who couldn't do either.
You guys are killing me. I swear you couldn't make stuff up to be more ridiculous.

In case you didn't know the GOP just blew through $4 trillion with nothing to show for it. And we, that's you and I, have to pay it back.
I cling to the fact that it's nearly over.

"I cling to the fact it's nearly over."
What? Big deficits? You're kidding, right? When Dems are proposing Universal Health Care, which is set to dwarf Social Security when it comes to spending. Giving organ transplants to illegal aliens, treating illegal aliens for cancer, TB, and every other disease known to man. They will come, by the millions, for free medical care. And it will cost in the trillions. And liberals will approve, they already are in places like California and New York.
Posted by: templar knight | Monday, April 14, 2008 at 04:12 PM
Hillary's not exactly an objective observer of the race. I wouldn't believe anything she says about Obama at this point.
As for McCain winning, if America liked what Bush gave them over the last 7+ years, then McCain will win. Afterall, he's essentially running as Bush III. A platform based on unending war in Iraq, bomb, bomb, bombing Iran, but not knowing anything about economics doesn't sound like a winning combo to me though.
McCain doesn't have any executive experience either. And pretty much every major bill with has name on it also has the name of a liberal Dem - McCain Feingold, McCain Kennedy.

Oh it's been too much fun to be over soon. This is the bestest most funnest election cycle EVER!! So much more fun than the Hildabeast coronation that we expected. The Big Rockcandy Mountain tour has been incredible and watching Hilda schlep around like she wants to cry one minute and cuss the next, awaiting with bated breath for her next lie. Watching Obie kick her ass at every turn. Don't wish it all away too sonn Harpie because you're going to be oh so disappointed the next 4 or so years.

"--- Oh it's been too much fun to be over soon. This is the bestest most funnest election cycle EVER!! ---"
Indeedie. We haven't even gotten past the Democratic bloodletting, erm, primary. We then get to see how a war-weary Obie holds up against a fresh Johnny Mac who has (hopefully) been doing his homework and thinking about a nice, youngish solid conservative VP to stand up in the general race to November.
Don't it just make ya wanna squeal like Howard Dean?
Posted by: seekeronos | Monday, April 14, 2008 at 04:36 PM
I agree, this is going to be the most interesting election ever. But it sounds like Wahoo is misunderestimating Obama just like Hillary did. Barring some surge of racist sentiment - Dan will do all he can to help I'm sure - Obama wins in a walk.
The country's really, really unhappy with how things are going and Bush's War. McCain is the status quo candidate - he's offering no solutions, no real new ideas. Stay in Iraq, threaten war with Iran, more tax cuts. Some maverick - it's Bush III. He can't bring himself to actually talk about the housing / mortgage crisis or the economy let alone offer any ideas.
Obama will have more money, an energized base, and new ideas. McCain can't even count on his base - the conservatives - to support him. Start saying it now, because it's going to be President Barack Obama.
Posted by: Worst President Ever | Monday, April 14, 2008 at 04:39 PM
"Wahoo is misunderestimating Obama."
It isn't my first day here WPE and it is you who "misunderstands". I've never inferred that Johnny Mac has a chance against Obie...In fact Obie's commie wife has a better chance than Johnny. What I have enjoyed, almost as much as chrissy matthews "tingle up the leg" is watching Obie pimp whip Da Hildabeast. I've not seen any "new ideas" from Obie, but neither do I presume to know what the entire country thinks. I do respect the man and it will remain fun to watch. Hell, deep inside I dont even really care what happens to Iraq when we walk off.....so long as they keep it in their own sand box. Does break my heart though, the waste of America's children in that hole.
Posted by: WAHOO WILLIE | Monday, April 14, 2008 at 04:52 PM
The most recent polls in Pa and Indiana, taken over the weekend and released today by ARG and Survey USA have Obama capturing exactly 29% and 35% of the non black voters in those two States. Since Blacks only make up about 12% of the population, you cant be skunked like that with non blacks and win anything. And remember, and here is the most important part, this is the percentages of Democrats. It only goes down when you include Republicans and Independents.
I would contend that there is no racist sentiment in play, other than blacks voting strictly for the face color instead of on the merits. But it might be a bit of a vote on affirmative action in a strange way. Clearly, Obama has the skinniest resume maybe ever for a major party's contender for the highest office. Kinda of a Democrat Party affirmative action ploy. I think a pretty significant percent of voters and going to vote no on his experience, no on his far left polices, no on his condescension and thus no on affirmative action for the Presidency.
Posted by: GMax | Monday, April 14, 2008 at 05:33 PM
It's a DEMOCRATIC Primary, not a general election. It's ludicrous to spin those numbers to say that Hillary supporters will bolt the party to back a conservative republican whose positions are anathema to pretty much all Democrats.
Actually people are going to vote no on Iraq, no on bombing Iran, no on more Tax Cuts for the Rich, and no on failed Republican policies.
Remind me again, what great things has John McCain done in the Senate?

WPE, is english not your first language? Or is it BDS blindness that causes you to be unable to comprehend what people write? There is no where in Gmax screed that implies he's talking about the general election. Here's the link to the survey he's wrting about, though the numbers seem off.

templar,
"What? Big deficits? You're kidding, right? When Dems are proposing Universal Health Care, which is set to dwarf Social Security when it comes to spending."
Just what was the deficit and national debt in 2000?
And on health care. You are mistaken.
Our health care system is twice to three times more expensive than the rest of the industrialized world.
Single payer will lower the cost.
Granted, we have the interest on the $4 trillion the GOP pissed away and (that alone is $200 billion per year) forever. But I figure between ending the occupation of Iraq, single payer health care, and ending the corporate welfare to Wall Street, spending will at least slow down.
Posted by: jharp | Monday, April 14, 2008 at 06:20 PM
Numbers not off at all, Obama gets 29% of white voters in the link just like I said. If you do the same thing in the Survey USA poll of today it will show 35% fo Whites in Indiana for Obama.
Since blacks overwhelming vote Democrat, primary or otherwise, If you get a certain vote % in the primary the general amount will by definition be less, ie Republicans and Independents are much more white as a group than Democrats.
But your point is a good one that I did not bring up. Lets look at the polls of Hill supporters that ask if Hill is not the nominee, who will you vote for? Seems like the number consistently is around 23% of her supporters. A big fat problem for you who desperately want a Democrat. Sorry about that.

That's a bogus number. It will shrink to less than 10%, probably less than 5% by election time. And if gas is $4+ a gallon, the economy's in recession and McCain is still talking about a 100 year war, the real movement will be republicans voting for Obama.
Posted by: Worst President Ever | Monday, April 14, 2008 at 06:29 PM
The United States continues to spend significantly more on health care than any country in the world. In 2002, Americans spent 53 percent per capita more than the next highest country, Switzerland, and 140 percent above the median industrialized country, according to new research from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
....
U.S. citizens spent $5,267 per capita on health care. The country with the next highest per capita expenditure, Switzerland, spent $3,446 per capita.

# In 2005, the United States spent 16 percent of its gross domestic product (GDP) on health care. It is projected that the percentage will reach 20 percent by 2016.1
# Although nearly 47 million Americans are uninsured, the United States spends more on health care than other industrialized nations, and those countries provide health insurance to all their citizens.3
# Health care spending accounted for 10.9 percent of the GDP in Switzerland, 10.7 percent in Germany, 9.7 percent in Canada and 9.5 percent in France, according to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.4

Support the "put your money where your mouth is" bill.
We are trying to get IRS to put a check box on your 1040 so that you can pledge your "fair share" on your taxes. Apparently "the rich" did not know that you can already give the government more money than their bayonets snatch now. So we want to make it easier for you. Now, instead of bragging about paying less tax than your secretary......you can send another check and feel good about yourself.

don't forget lie #7:
even though the government-run, single-payer VA med system is famously bad - so bad they make movies about it, when there's a republican in the white house, anyway - going to a government-run, national health system like britain's massively inept one will somehow miraculously be all right.

and all the idiot liberals nod in lockstep. "yeah! that's the ticket!!"

Lala: While that is true, look at the money we would save if our cancer patients only lived two months or if we only had 1-2 MRI machines per state. ANd what about those doctors, imagine the savings if a GP ionly made about 50k a year and a nuero-surgeon about 75k. On a personal level the yearly increase of $300.00 to my taxes is more than I pay a MONTH for insurance now.

Yeah, our Health System is KILLER man!
# Nearly 47 million Americans, or 16 percent of the population, were without health insurance in 2005, the latest government data available.1
# The number of uninsured rose 2.2 million between 2005 and 2006 and has increased by almost 9 million people since 2000.1
# The increase in the number of uninsured in 2006 was focused among working age adults. The percentage of working adults (18 to 64) who had no health coverage climbed from 19.7 percent in 2005 to 20.2 percent in 2006.1 Nearly 1.3 million full-time workers lost their health insurance in 2006.
http://www.nchc.org/facts/coverage.shtml
Health insurance companies are rapidly adopting a new pricing system for very expensive drugs, asking patients to pay hundreds and even thousands of dollars for prescriptions for medications that may save their lives or slow the progress of serious diseases.
With the new pricing system, insurers abandoned the traditional arrangements that has patients pay a fixed amount, such as $10, $20 or $30 for a prescription, no matter what the drug's actual cost. Instead, they are charging patients a percentage of the cost of certain high-priced drugs, usually 20 to 33 percent, which can amount to thousands of dollars a month.
The system means that the burden of expensive health care is no longer a problem only for people who have no insurance. Instead, the new pricing system can mean that even insured people may not be able to afford the treatments they require.

The Killer Elite. This is very amusing seeing the Democrats argue about who is elite and who is not. When Hillary and Bill went to Yale Law School and Barack went to Harvard and his dad did also. Doesnt that make them all elite? Just like the Bushes. Johnny Mac went to the Naval Academy and the Hanoi Hilton and I would say that doesnt make him elite. The fact that his second wife has money is not his fault. Johnny Mac is not your average rich Republican. He is not your average rich Arizona Republican.
Bill and Hillary Clinton have made over 100 million since they left the White House. That makes them elites without question. For them to call Obama elitist is like the pot calling the kettle black.

How long should we put up with old men in wheel chairs being shoved off of cruise ships? One could excuse Iraq as a better bagdhad than Boston strategy but it makes no sense when you're already in A'stan (better Kabul than Kansas City).
