"-- As if there were no such thing as racism—as if there was no such thing as racism that is alive and well and present in the most cellular of spaces. She could have gone by a pen name. Mark Twain apparently sold a lot more books than Samuel Clemens.

In this fight we are the only winners. Please pass the chips and I hope they claw each others eyes out.

Boob and some of the other nutroots were wanting a match between Westboro Bapt. Church and one of our own, and look what he gets instead. A racial catfight. How ironic.

Enjoy, Boob, enjoy! And get that TIVO warmed up. Hahaha!!!!!!!

Wow, this is on TV? Where? Oh, blogger fight. Yeah, they'll have the news vans out any minute now.

And Boob, I have some great news for you. We'll be in NYC the week of May 10th. The wife needs to do some shopping, and I'm tagging along. We'll be staying at the Pierre, so do come visit.

Perchance you aren't up here for a grilling event, aside from the shopping? If so, I shall definitely clear my calendar.

No grilling, just shopping. How far are you from the city, seek?

Temp, when you get to NY be sure to keep your eyes open for a portly, bumkinish clodhopper from rural CT. He will be approaching well-dressed and well-heeled sophisticates trying to make friends. They will be giving him the cold shoulder and laughing behind his back at his rustic manners and clownish appearance. That will be the Boob. Say hello to him for me, but first make sure no one is around to see you speaking to him.

It is always fun to watch as the left turns on itself and starts to feed. There has always been the hint of racism lurking beneath the shinny exterior of modern Progessives, it is now coming out. Another area where this is happening is in the green movement. For decades the radical, white, far left has done great harm to miilions of poor black people around the world. By banning the use of DDT without having an alternate plan tens of millions of black people have died from milaria. Now we have a looming food crisis due to the lefts pushing of bio fuels. Add into that the growing evidence that Planned Parenthood and other abortion rights groups have quietly been encouraging black women to terminate their babies at a faster rate then white or asian babies.
Black people have been so brain washed by progressives that they don't even realize that the left is slowly killing them off in a form of slow motion genocide.

poppycock. it's impossible for a liberal to be racist.

I'm about an hour north of Manhattan, which puts me conveniently accessible to all NYC offers, but far enough away not to be troubled by the "Tyranny of the Urban", such as it is. :)

That last item was a reply to TK.

"poppycock. it's impossible for a liberal to be racist."

nope, obamanite arugula eaters have been calling hillary supporters redneck racists for a couple of month now.

"poppycock. it's impossible for a liberal to be racist. "

LOLOLOLOLOLOL damn I nearly hurt myself when I fell out of the chair!! That statement is either a snidely joke or joe28 needs a dictionary. I guess slave traders weren't racist either.

Mark Steyn praising God and guns, seek:
"A while back, I was struck by the words of Oscar van den Boogaard, a Dutch gay humanist (which is pretty much the trifecta of Eurocool). Reflecting on the Continent's accelerating Islamification, he concluded that the jig was up for the Europe he loved, but what could he do? "I am not a warrior, but who is?" he shrugged. "I have never learned to fight for my freedom. I was only good at enjoying it."

cockypop. It is impossible for a racist to be liberal:

("...Etymology: Middle English, from Anglo-French, from Latin liberalis suitable for a freeman, generous, from liber free; perhaps akin to Old English lēodan to grow, Greek eleutheros free

Translation: Ah! Liberals! *hides*

Seriously, get out of that state while you still can. The state house and senate are going through a GOP purge the likes of which have never before been seen. Soon liberal fascism will have washed away what few tax loopholes and gun repositories still exist. And then it'll be only a matter of time before the Caliphate comes rolling in.

Not to be terribly persnickety, but *exactly* how familiar are you with NY State politics, Llama?

For one, the lower house is called the "State Assembly" (and its members "Assemblymen", gender correctable as the case may be) -- and has been controlled by the Donks for nigh unto 40 years or more, with no sign of changing.

The State Senate on the other hand, is Republican by a two-seat toe hold. Also bear in mind that what is considered "Republican" up here is more in the Rockefeller "Limousine Liberal in an elephant costume" mold, much more so than a Goldwater Republican, much less a Coolidge Republican.

Concerning those latter two types of Republican, I think we have a couple-three of them; and for that matter, a lot of the career Dems in either house trend toward being Blue Dogs who like their guns (although there is a very large cluster of gun-grabbing Obama arugula eaters, most of whom come from NYC, with a few from Buffalo and Albany to balance out the mix).

There is a lot more to NY State politics than meets the eye; what is so for The City™ is not necessarily the same for Upstate. You might be surprised that within a 15 minute drive of my home one could easily find hunting ground a plenty of rednecks with rifles and shotguns in one direction, and suburban strip malls and big box stores in the other direction.

But not too many "pistols" (NYS legal term for "handguns") as they shamefully require a county judge's permission, and a rather arcane (and somewhat costly, if you are doing this in NYC) procedure to even get the permit.

Ah, the sorrows of living in a "may issue" state, indeed.

"But not too many "pistols""

So one can buy a revolver without a permit?

Willie, the whole New York system sounds bogus to me. I don't think a revolver is easy obtainable, either. But I've never lived in New York, so I'm not sure. Let's just say Texas is a damn sight better when it comes to gun control laws, and ditto for No. Carolina, I'm sure.

NC= permit to buy, back ground check for permit and at point of sale (including gun shows) If you do not have a concealed carry permit (permit requires training, backgrounnd check), firearm must be in "plain sight". Legally, with few city ordinance exceptions, one could wear a holster and carry openly......caveat being, one complaint by John Q Public and you must lock it away. If you have minors in the home under age 16 ALL firearms must be "locked".

Two things I'd like to see: Banning unrecorded intra personal sales. I should have to have a permit to buy your handgun as I would from a dealer. Second, Id like to see extra time for carrying a weapon in the commission of ANY crime. This would include a burgular in possession of stolen firearms.

"--- So one can buy a revolver without a permit? ---"

Not in NYS. You'd need a "Pistol Permit" for any revolver, autoloader, single-shot pistol, black powder muzzle loader "pirate gun" ... pretty much anything other than long arms (rifles and shotguns)... and NYS puts up some pretty steep barriers to discourage private ownership of handguns.

You'd need a judge to sign off on it, four character witnesses, approval from the county Sheriff, and a few other things I am probably forgetting. The best bet is to go whole hog and try to apply to for an unlimited, unsrestricted CCW permit as well (there are numerous other categories and circumstances besides CCW, but woe to you if you carry outside of those other limited circumstances). Therefore, go for the most "unrestricted" variety. The worst that the interviewing officer can do is say "no" (refuse to grant you a license). :P

There is also the usual background checks (FBI/NCIS) and "hope you contributed large $um$ of money to that particular county judge's most recent election" soaked luck biscuit that may help to seal the deal. (In actuality, you might not meet the county judge face to face, but some other court functionary or sheriff's deputy to whom it has been delegated to deal with all the riff-raff who wish to beg for the privilege of purchasing a handgun; however, being on a first-name basis with the county judge certainly never hurts).

And even then, the process can take several weeks to several months.

Some counties are more or less stringent on some matters than others. The typical pattern is that the counties closest to NYC are the most restrictive, with NYC being virtually impossible to get a pistol permit (unless you are a Hollyweird celebrity/retired NYPD/NYC politician/Donald Trump, in which case you can pick one up on the cheap with a set of finger prints).

Adirondack counties tend to be the least restrictive (although, compared to like Texas or AZ, it would still be quite restrictive).

Addressing Willie's last comment - NYS also requires Sheriff/County Judge approval of handguns sales between private individuals (removal of the handgun from seller's license - $3 surcharge - and added to buyer's license for another $3 surcharge).

And first-time licensees require NRA-approved instruction, if I recall correctly.

"NYS also requires Sheriff/County Judge approval of handguns sales between private individuals (removal of the handgun from seller's license - $3 surcharge - and added to buyer's license for another $3 surcharge).

Bringing in the judge is a bit excessive NY is a bit too much like registration, but I dont mind some record of sale/transfer. You get a buy permit, I sell you the gun keep the permit and receipt between us. Also not opposed to including instruction....we do it for hunting licenses here, so why not for your .50 cal AE?

I think firearms safety and hunting instruction should be part of the high school (if not junior college) curriculum.

But then gain, I'm also a nut who believes that any free man (or woman) of decision-making age should have free and unfettered access to firearms of any type, with some due consideration to where you carry said firearm (i.e. taking the M-60 out for a ride on the bus or out grocery shopping should qualify for an Official Frowning™).

Hm...I don't like No. Carolina's laws, either, willie. Damn good thing I live in Texas, where my CCP was issued after taking a firearms safety course. My license is also valid in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Mississippi, I believe. Perhaps a few other states as well.

In any event, where I live, open carry is common, anyway, so CCPs are not that big a deal unless you are traveling to another state, which in my case is Arkansas and Louisiana, which both recognize my CCP, I think. Hell, I carry a gun anyway, regardless of the state, including right straight through downtown Chigaco, and Obama can kiss my ass if he don't like it.

TK; Our laws sound pretty restrictive on first blush but they aren't that bad. I wear a pistol whenever I go in the woods or creeks, to the range which means wearing it in public hither and yon. Out where I live it isn't unusual. If I wanted to carry "in town" I would get a CCW easily. I've not seen a reason to though, I avoid the high crime areas. I think we also have reciprocal agreements with neighboring states vis CCW. A lot of what I would think if the world were populated with rednecks like us has changed in modern times. You and I were taught from children how to handle a firearm, right/wrong and dont shoot your best friend. Not that way anymore, people have kids and cant even spell parent, they're taught 'there are no absolutes' so trying to tell them it's wrong to kill is accused of teaching religion. On and on society rots from within! So, I prefer that people be required to learn what their parents should have taught them before they walk among us armed.

Maybe you're right, Willie. The rot has set in, and one doesn't know how deep it will go before it stops. Or whether it might be terminal. Time will tell.

That rot of which you speak is called "sin" and "hubris". They are quite intertwined, actually.

And it is a terrible rot, a disease, and an affliction which is taking an awful toll upon our nation, and will continue to worsen unless we Americans repent and turn back to Christ.

"----- If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. -----"
(2 Chronicles 7:14, KJV)

"...shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face,..."

That won't happen, seek, as the only god most of these liberals have is government. They think the government can solve every problem of mankind, from healthcare all the way to the grave, as if this silliness hasn't been tried over and over again, with nary a chance of long-term success. But they think it will all be different this time. Lock and load, and get ready for a wild ride, is my advice.
