I've come to realize how unseasoned and occasionally brash is Barack Obama - not to mention his Not Ready To Be First Lady wife. I suspect the couple is quite different than the myth.
But did he actually give Hillary the finger as some suggest? You be the judge.

You remind me of a third grader.

Don't get sore at Dan for pointing out another man's idiocy: Obama wasn't exactly a paragon of maturity there either.
Even if he was just scratching his cheek, WHY with his middle finger instead of his index finger?
Seems a little deliberate to me, and evidently immature.
Posted by: seekeronos | Friday, April 18, 2008 at 11:22 AM
seek,
Please, with all the issues facing us today you feel a need to question which finger Senator Obama uses to scratch his cheek.

"--- Please, with all the issues facing us today you feel a need to question which finger Senator Obama uses to scratch his cheek. ---"
Indeed I do. People (especially liberals) were no less quick to point out Bush's lack of oratorical polish, nor his less-than-charming gaffes like doing a wink-wink/nudge-nudge to HRH Queen Elizabeth when she visited us last year.
Obama lets his speech slip when he (thinks he) is behind closed doors with the "bitter" remark, and he plays down his relationships with his vitriolic pastor, and with Bill Ayers, the domestic terrorist. And now this not-so-subtle jab at Hillary.
Hillary herself is no less open to critique, with her "dodging bullets" in Bosnia, among so many other mis-speakings.
So, yes... it is immature to point these things out, no more or less than it is for Sen. Obama to stealthily flip Hillary "the Bird".

"But did he actually give Hillary the finger as some suggest?"
The audience certainly thought so. But to Harpo Obama is godlike and therefore could never act like a Southside Chicago punk.

You guys are hopeless. And, just in case, this is what giving someone the finger looks like.
Certainly you can see the difference.

Screamin' Howie Dean demands the supers to take their stand.
Actually, if I remember the interview correctly, he is calling for the supers to vote after the last primary; the headline is misleading.
I guess this will effectively pre-empt whatever primaries remain, as the sheep will almost certainly greet their new overlord Obama with the press putting this spin on it.
Hillary is about to have her "Mitt Moment". I wonder how gracefully she will handle it (or not: if she starts up the shrill factor over th MI and FL delegates).

I may vote for McCain, and I might not: if Bob Barr makes the Libertarian ticket, or better yet, if Roy Moore gets the Constitution party ticket - I'll vote for him.

jharp, is there a liberal in the World who has any shame? Or isn't a stinking hypocrite? Because you nutroot liberals have acted like 2nd graders for almost 6 years of Bush's presidency, and now YOU want to criticize someone for acting like a 3rd grader. For God's sake, man, you nutroots started this crap, and you're going to have to live with it. From now on. Ironic, isn't it?
You see, it's now impossible for me to have a policy discussion with a son of a bitch like Boob. I can't possibly take him serious, as his actions on this blog over the past two years indicate him to be an immature moron.

Right. We also noted how his AGs turned the Department of Justice into a laughing stock that couldn't convict the Hamburgaler of petty larceny. And how he ballooned the deficit. And how he still hasn't captured Osama Bin Laden - either dead or alive. And then there's the Iraq War thing.
We laughed at the lack of oratorical polish and less-than-charming gaffes because he's a buffoon and these are just a few blunders in a list that goes back a lifetime. What are you insinuating about Obama, exactly? That he's a secret evil man who will one day hand-gesture us too? Do you have a point? Is Obama unfit to be President because... wait, is there even a reason here? Or is this just another hollow gotcha-moment?
I can just see the McCain attack ad. "Barack Osama Fingers Your Momma! From San Fransisco! Can America afford to vote for this man? McCain '08."

That thought had crossed my mind, and may well cross it again, if the Obama 4-Year Plan takes us down the road to triple-digit hyperinflation, 50% unemployment, crop failures, infrastructure failures, complete economic collapse, and millions of starving and malnourished Americans.
And I am afraid of who the "convenient scapegoat" will be, as Xopher Hitchens and his bosom buddy Richard "the Heathen" Dawkins gurgle with glee as the Christians are sent to the gas chambers to make room for the hungry secularists.

Obama is a typical 'magic negro', not the god some want to make him. He's no different than any black druggie on the street, only he has better suits. One thing for sure, his racism has opened my eyes about being fooled that racism was dead. Now we can all be the racist they want us to be and they have no complaint coming. The democrats can't honestly call David Duke and the KKK racist without being hypocrites. Like some of the others I may not vote for McCain, I haven't liked him since he became a whiner in 2000, but then his whining is no match for
Shrillary and Hussein O's whining.

I don't get it. Acting like second graders?
You mean for pointing out the blown $4 trillion, warrantless wiretaps, no habeas corpus, 4,100 dead soldiers for nothing, ignoring the warnings for the worst terrorist attack in U.S history, monetary policy that created the worst housing crisis since the depression, outing of a CIA agent, and more.
Why don't you point out to me how adults act over such outrageous and incompetent leadership?

Harpo, two questions. (1) Why do you think waterboarding is torture? (2) Don't you ever get tired of simply regurgitating Dem talking points over and over, using no originality nor creativity?
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 01:22 PM
(1) Why do you think waterboarding is torture?
Because we prosecuted and convicted the Japanese of war crimes after WW2 for using waterboarding.
(2) Don't you ever get tired of simply regurgitating Dem talking points over
No. It is my patriotic duty as we've got GW the second running for the Presidency who promises to continue the same failed policies.
Posted by: jharp | Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 01:53 PM
GW the second? are you paying attention, mccain opposes water boarding.
Posted by: tally | Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 04:22 PM
tally,
I believe McCain flip flopped on torture.
He voted against it before he voted for it.
Posted by: jharp | Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 04:25 PM
Tally,
It is you who isn't paying attention.
Feb 13, 2008, the Senate brought the Intelligence Authorization Bill to the floor, which contained a provision from Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) establishing one interrogation standard across the government. The bill requires the intelligence community to abide by the same standards as articulated in the Army Field Manual and bans waterboarding.
Just hours ago, the Senate voted in favor of the bill, 51-45.
Earlier today, ThinkProgress noted that Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), a former prisoner of war, has spoken strongly in favor of implementing the Army Field Manual standard. When confronted today with the decision of whether to stick with his conscience or cave to the right wing, McCain chose to ditch his principles and instead vote to preserve waterboarding:
Mr. McCain, a former prisoner of war, has consistently voiced opposition to waterboarding and other methods that critics say is a form torture. But the Republicans, confident of a White House veto, did not mount the challenge. Mr. McCain voted “no” on Wednesday afternoon.
The New York Times Times notes that “the White House has long said Mr. Bush will veto the bill, saying it ‘would prevent the president from taking the lawful actions necessary to protect Americans from attack in wartime.’”
After Bush vetoes the bill, McCain will again be confronted with a vote to either stand with President Bush or stand against torture. He indicated with his vote today where he will come down on that issue.
John McCain: He was against waterboarding before he was for it.

Harpo??????
We interred Japanese Americans in during WWII. Should we inter Muslim Americans now?
Now how about a reason why waterboarding is torture, Mr. Patriot?
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 04:38 PM
"Now how about a reason why waterboarding is torture, Mr. Patriot?"
In 1947, the United States charged a Japanese officer, Yukio Asano, with war crimes for carrying out another form of waterboarding on a U.S. civilian. The subject was strapped on a stretcher that was tilted so that his feet were in the air and head near the floor, and small amounts of water were poured over his face, leaving him gasping for air until he agreed to talk.
"Asano was sentenced to 15 years of hard labor," Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.) told his colleagues last Thursday during the debate on military commissions legislation. "We punished people with 15 years of hard labor when waterboarding was used against Americans in World War II," he said.

In my life I believe I have witnessed a throng of males so inherently in love with themselves that they just assume all there actions will be perceived as cuteness and brilliance. Obama is one of these. He has been propelled along on a silk pillow as if he were the great biracial hope of America. His family, his society, his school, his party all have well regarded him as a birthright. Excuse me while I go get a phenergan. He has never had to truely be worthy or prove himself. He is cast in a role from youth. This is the stuff elitism is made of. A real democrat this Obama. But in his element as well. Im sure Hillary has given him the one finger salute a time or 2 also, so no love is lost.

"Should we inter Muslim Americans now?"
No. But I'm sure many of the right wing racist nitwits would like to.
"We interred Japanese Americans in during WWII."
Clearly was wrong and a disgrace.
And you know something else, Fred, we used to enslave black people and not allow women the right to vote.
Should we enslave Muslims and take away their right to vote?
You truly are a dunce.

2. Obsolete. to put into the earth.
interred

You have the mind of a child.
Do you honestly believe a U.S. Senator who is most likely to be the next President of the United States would engage in a 3rd grade stunt on national television.
Friggin unbelievable. I have a strong suspicion you vote republican.

"Why don't you go to school and educate yourself?"
Fred; I guess while the educator was playing pompous ass he could have clued you in that the word is inter(n). Example; "The democrat admistration of FDR had Japanese-Americans (and a few less famous others) interned into internment camps."
"4,100 dead soldiers"
Harpie, I'd buy you a steak dinner *and* a beer but you're really pissing me off pretending to give a crap about dead soldiers. You do not and I wish you'd stop pretending.

Harpo???????? Thanks Harpo and Wahoo for the correction re interred vs interned (a brain f---). But, however, yet, and still, Harpo, you have not answered my question. All you did was cite that great lady-killer Sen. Kennedy. I asked why waterboarding was torture. You said the U.S. government jailed a Japanese soldier for waterboarding a civilian and that made waterboarding torture. But the U.S. government interned (son, ah say interned) Americans of Japanese ancestry in that same era. According to your logic that should make it OK for us now to intern Muslim Americans.
In WWII waterboarding was considered torture and a crime.
Ergo: Waterboarding should be considered torture and a crime. WRONG
In WWII interning Americans whose background was Japanese (as was the enemy's) was considered legal.
Ergo: interning Americans whose background is Muslim (as is the enemy's) should be considered legal. WRONG
Now, I request an answer. Why do you view waterboarding as torture?
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Sunday, April 20, 2008 at 09:09 AM
Harpo asks, albeit without the required question mark (the stones/glass houses saying comes to mind doesn't it Wahoo????):"Do you honestly believe a U.S. Senator who is most likely to be the next President of the United States would engage in a 3rd grade stunt on national television."
But Harpo, do you seriously think Senators are incapable of 3rd grade stunts after all of the senatorial 3rd grade stunts we have seen over the last 100 years, one of which resulted in the loss of a young woman's life???????????
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Sunday, April 20, 2008 at 09:28 AM
Harpo says: "Indga,
You have the mind of a child."
Indga, is absolutely right, Harpo. She listened to the video. I must surmise you did not. Listening to it makes it quite clear the audience got his finger message.
Harpo you have shared your illustrious presence and brilliant thoughts with us for a few weeks. I now have a pretty firm opinion of you. In my opinion, Harpo, you act like a cur, a mountebank, a jabbernowl, a fruitcake, a puss-in-boots, a shill, a bridled goose, a rake, a phony, a blowhard, a rapscallion, a bitter Indianian clinging to gun bans and atheism, a finger-giver, a pimp for the Left, a f-----g lifer civilian, a wise ass, a chimp in a tizzy, a goldbrick, a cad, a propagandistic ignoramus, a grifter in pantaloons, a moron, a cheapskate, a lecherous individual, a turkey, a fraud, a dimwit in a dunce cap, a socialistic hand-out taker, a slob, a personage who has never had a creative or original thought in 4 trillion years, a Daily Kos and Huff and puff reader and memorizer, a charlatan, a freak of nature, a dope, and a second grader. Of course I could go on.
Thank you. Your friend, Fred
