Everybody, yes literally everybody is either hinting at, or shouting for Eliot Spitzer's resignation. Most fascinating to me is that it would give New York it's first Black - and blind - Governor. I've seen suggestions that maybe Rudy should run next time out. But I'm struggling with the campaign theme given his own indiscretions: Vote for Guiliani, because NY deserves a Governor who doesn't have to pay for it!! Sorry, I think not.
Rudy ran his Presidential campaign like a blind man. Personally, I think I might like to see the real deal succeed as the new NY Gov. Time may tell.
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) -- Less than two years after he reluctantly ran for lieutenant governor, David Paterson is suddenly in line to be only the third black governor since Reconstruction, and the first in New York.
"He's the next governor and probably quite soon," said Maurice Carroll, director of Quinnipiac University's Polling Institute and a longtime New York political reporter.

Boy history in the public schools really does suck. I had no idea New York was reconstructed, well there was that one little town that seceeded with the southerners, but geeze they reconstructed the whole state?

I think they were talking nationally as far as reconstruction, WW - not specifically NY. But assuming one accepts it as a measure, then the lack of high level Blue State pols that are Black, including govs - does sort of put the lie to racial issues being confined to the South. Perhaps the North needed some reconstruction beyond being handed over to liberal Dems. heh

Actually, the backward South was Reconstructed after being humiliated in 1865. Sadly, that reconstruction did little good. Personally, I think General Sherman knew best how to deal with them.

Actually it was the so called 'reconstruction' that was humiliating and ineffectual. Truth is also that Sherman would have handled that 'reconstruction' a whole lot better than the southerner who was in the whitehouse at the time. No one expects victims of public education to know that though. It is remarkable that you even know where the term 'reconstruction' came from.

I wish David Paterson all the best. Still it will be the blind leading the blind. Those people in New York State are the same people that elected Hillary.
