Actually, Jeralyn at Talk Left made the case for why Florida doesn't need a re-vote - and she's correct. Objectively speaking, by bringing up the topic, Florida Gov. Crist is actually proving himself to be the jerk he proved himself to be when he abandoned Rudy for McCain at the last minute.
The reality is - the Republicans in Fla moved the primary, not the Dems. And every candidate was on the ballot, none of them campaigned. Fla doesn't need a do-over, it should simply have the delegates seated. It was never right to penalize the Fla Dems over that which they didn't control. And it was a level playing field for all - with massive turn out, to boot. How is that not a democratic result?
Obviously MI is another story, as the naive Obama took his name off the ballot, while Clinton played it smart. Obama gained nothing from removing his name. Typical of how he would deal with foreign dictators, he made what he thought was an empty gesture that could now come back to hurt him in the end.
Disparage Hillary if you want, I understand. But she made the smarter play in Michigan, as she realizes politics is a blood sport and isn't still playing the sand lot equivalent to be expected from a light weight like Obama.
Chicago politics may be down and dirty, but it's still nothing when compared to presidential politics and their national scale.

Ah, classic "fuck the rules" mentality. Here's a man who lives and breathes the Bush Doctrine.
Florida's Dems could have pushed for a separate primary date, as Wyoming and WV and a number of other states have. Michigan's Dems could have bowed to the DNC mandate and played by the rules.
But "Wingnut Cheerleaders For Hillary Clinton" say that the Democrats should toss internal consistency out the window and just seat the delegates regardless, because... "Wingnut Cheerleaders For Hillary Clinton" want Hillary Clinton to win the nomination. It's as simple as that.
After all, these rules were made by Howard Dean and Howard Dean hates America. So what better way to flip off the Deaniac, piss on the electoral system, and show utter disregard for the rest of the Democratic Party than to screw the rules and hand Clinton the nomination by virtue of an invalidated election. Then McCain can beat her in the general, and horray! 4 more years! 4 more years!
If you're wondering why its McCain and not Romney as your Presidential nominee, its because mainstream Republicans just aren't as politically naive as you.

Oh, and the "This proves Obama can't protect us from Terrorists!" was pure gold, btw. Now run along and change your pants.

Actually IslamoLlama has a bit of a point...
Think of the chaos that would ensue if this whole thing gets dragged onto the convention floor, Florida seated and Michigan left hang to twist in the wind...
Overweight, middle aged dweebs slapping at each other with their silly signs, race pimps posing for cameras and screaming something inordinantly inane as usual, and the crowds of parasitic larvae warming up in the streets waiting for just about any sort of excuse to vandalize and or steal someone else's personal property...
Libtards at their finest...

I guess I misunderstood the furor but still disagree with tax money being used for a redo and I dont care whose fault it is.

No do overs. Seat the delegates that the voters elected. It is neither the voters fault that the party hierarchy tried to play cutsie. It is not Hillary's fault that Obama tried to be too cute by half in Michigan, nor is it the voters fault either. Plenty of them voted for uncommitted rather than for Hillary. A do over is pandering to Obama.

It is, in fact, entirely the voters' fault that the party hierarchy tried to play cutsie. The voters select the hierarchy. This is, after all, still a Democracy. Obama wasn't trying to be "too cute by half" in Michigan. The DNC stated that the Michigan ballot was invalidated by its date. Obama was following the rules.
Of course, its amazing to see Republicans take the side of Hillary Clinton - now, in her time of greatest need - when they have no intention of voting for a woman they are all-to-quick to call a bitch or a shrew or worse. That conservatives suddenly think they have a great deal of say in "rules" when their favorite President regularly ignores everything from subpeona power to bans on torture, leaves me laughing.
Where was this sudden, fervent commitment to Democracy in 2000 or 2004... or even 2006... when Floridans were claiming they'd been disenfranchised by Republican shenanigans? It's absolutely outrageous how you'll go to bat for a woman you hate just because you think you might have a better chance of beating her in the general election. If Florida Dems could see the screaming and howling on the right in support of Hillary, they'd no doubt vote for Obama in droves.

For Islamoe:
Ya know...
...some of us don't really give much thought to whether or not Hillary or Obama is on top of the ticket, much less if one beats out the other.
In fact, I think we are seeing a win-win for J-Mac here, in that:
a) Hils keeps knee-capping and scratching and clawing in her true form and buries Obama: then we get to see how J-Mac handles the shrill, divisive Harpy of the Left face off against the slightly center-left McCain, who will give us the dirt fest of the decade between the amount of dirt both of these snakes-in-the-grass can dig up on each other. Less ideal of a campaign and more of a chance McCain looses, but fun to watch the Politics of Personal Destruction in its full blossom...
b) Hills keeps knee-capping and scratching and clawing in her true form, but somehow Obama keeps his lead and slides by with a couple or three more delegates and SuperDelegates enough to relegate Hils to the dustbin of political history (or at least back to her Senate job): McCain has a sufficiently deflated far-left (Marxist) empty-suit NOI and terrorist sponsored opponent to knock down in a few well-placed hits as the War Hero of the centre-right.
I'd prefer B if only because I think it gives us a better shot at locking you socialists out of the WH for another few years, but if Hils is our opponent, I think our playbooks are well documented on how to put her horse out to pasture as well.

First off....Hve you been here that long Dan? Second and speaking only for myself. I was mostly concerned about the military whose absentee votes the dems din't want counted.

Okay..coming from a registered Libertarian living here in Florida..here's my take on this. First, we the people of Florida elected the representatives in our state legislature that voted to move the date of the primary up. Yes, there were some Democrats who voted in favor of it. Both the DNC and the RNC said they would punish Florida if the date was moved forward. The DNC took away all the delegates. The RNC only took half of the delegates away. Both Obama and Hillary signed off and agreed to abide by the rules. I say, NO DO-OVERS! For whatever reason, and I don't know how the people gave them the power, both the DNC and RNC make the rules and the states can't overturn them. How the hell do private organizations overrule state governments?!?!?!? Anyway, the rules were set and everyone agreed to them. First, there is no need for a DO-OVER in Florida since EVERYONE was on the ballot. If they do decide to seat the delegates..they should do it based on the first votes. If they decide to seat the Florida delegates..then, yes..it is mandatory they have a DO-OVER in Michigan since only Hillary and what's his name and the other what's his name were on that ballot. Edwards and Obama were not on it. But, it's just like a Clinton to cheat when things are working out for them.
Nuff said.

rofl, please stick to talking about your own party wingnuts. None of you have any business pretending like you care about "fairness" when it comes to elections.
