Everyone's buzzing about NY Gov. Eliot Spitzer being linked to a prostitution ring - and I do mean everyone. At right - I'm wondering if he was trying to send a message after one of his debates?
Still, credit where credit is due, at least he wasn't hanging out in Parkway rest stops like NJ Gov. McGreevey. What is this, Northeast Dem Governor of big states syndrome? I hope Fast Eddie Rendell of PA has the good sense to stay home at night.
As a law enforcement official, Spitzer is said to have carried a big stick. Sure looks like it might have been the case from here! heh!

'Bout damn time. I was beginning to worry the Democrats had a libido problem. Between Foley and Vitter and Craig and 911 and maybe-possibly-McCain, the Democrats weren't getting any news in this department.
Of course, Spitzer is a big Clintonista. I eagerly await the local gang to denounce his connections to the Clinton campaign and demand that Hillary resign in shame.

This is great news for patriots. Maybe you will now win Denny Hastert's seat back!!

Mr. Riehl,
Since you're the only right wing blog that allows leftie posters you get stuck with me.
Couple of points I'd to to offer.
First, I was a huge fan of Spitzers and am very disappointed.
Resignation? I don't know. I'll have to ponder that for awhile.
To me the worst part and what separates him from Vitter, Craig, and the rest is he was prosecuting prostitution cases and then patronizing them.
I have a big problem with that.

1. we still have McGreevey constantly in the news.
2. this is the only right wing blog that allows leftist postings? Is that true?

Might be an exaggeration but it is the only one I know of without a lengthy registration process.
And many don't allow any comments.
Though I disagree with many of the viewpoints here I do thank you for the opportunity to comment.
I think it's good for all of us.

FWIW...
I find that many of the righty blogs that try to over-moderate their commenters risk alienating different perspectives. RedState.com is a prime example; they are very nearly an echo chamber for the pro-Bush neocons.
I got banned from it... although I'm a bit of a "paleocon", so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised.
I reckon there isn't much room on the left either, guessing from what I hear about the mods at dKos and MyDD.

"I think it's good for all of us."
jharp Tis a bit 'sad' that some blogs screen who can and cannot post but as I say about Hannity and others who shout down dissent and hang up on callers...it only shows a lack of conviction. Now this bunch here. The 'regular' posters can get awfully close to out of control with name calling and arguing but I've only seen one I wouldn't buy a beer for, though I think at some point I've disagreed with them all. So maybe Dan is doing something right, maybe you should feel welcomed here.

The story goes that Spitzer's bank reported his money transactions to the IRS. The investigation began because it was thought he was taking bribes or kickbacks and was trying to hide the money.
He was paying the hookers with a credit card (maybe he was earning airline miles on the card)

There is not one of the regular posters at this blog who I could not sit down, eat a meal, and have a few laughs and drinks with. That's how I feel, no matter how much I might disagree with their politics.

"I reckon there isn't much room on the left either, guessing from what I hear about the mods at dKos and MyDD."
Oh no, quite the contrary.
Try Crooks and Liars, Americablog, Digby, NoQuarter, Groupnewsblog, Anonymous Liberal, Carperbagger, Washington Monthly, SadlyNo, and I'm sure I left a few out.
Thanks for the kind welcome.

Wahoo Willie, you are so concerned about Hannity hanging up on callers, but I noticed you did not mention pies being thrown at Ann Coulter, leftwingers trying to attack David Horiwitz while he was on state and the most recent shout down of Karl Rove at the University of Iowa where a loudmouthed, physical leftwinger attacked an 84 year old veteran.
Shouting down a person is a tactic of the anti-war left wing, not of conservatives. So perhaps in your attempt to be fair and balanced, you could have made note of that.
Civil dialog should be encouraged. But it seems that it is sorely lacking in some groups. When have we ever seen Media Benjamin of CodePink when she wasn't shouting?

"but I noticed you did not mention pies being thrown at Ann Coulter,"
Well retire05 I wasn't trying to be fair and balanced. I was trying to be nice to jharp. Since he is a self proclaimned lefty, I am quite certain that he s familiar with the tolerant left.

Wahoo Willie, check mate. LOL
Posted by: retire05 | Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at 12:24 AM
screw this guy. Dunno why so many of these jerks pull crap like this. You'd think being a governor or a senator would make it easier to get tail in a more discreet fashion. Maybe it's the thrill of doing something scandalous... blah. He should definitely resign.

I do not think that there is any correlation between libido and the size of the stick. I am betting that the Spitz has a pea shooter myself.

"Since you're the only right wing blog that allows leftie posters you get stuck with me." From jharp. But also from jharp we have this: "To me the worst part and what separates him from Vitter, Craig, and the rest is he was prosecuting prostitution cases and then patronizing them.
I have a big problem with that."
Whom are you kidding, jharp? No real lefty (LOL excepted of course) would have any problem with that.

Here is an objective poll from the Daily Kos. It appears under a post that argues Spitzer is not a real hypocrite. Why not? Because he is a Dem.
"Poll
Who do you think was worse?
Larry Craig was worse.
15% 21 votes
Craig Vitter was worse.
5% 7 votes
John McCain was worse.
3% 4 votes
Rudolph Giuliani was worse.
7% 10 votes
All of the above.
30% 40 votes
It's always worse when it's a Republican who touts their "family values" approach to sexual morality over what they characterize as others' more lax approach
38% 51 votes

My answer does not appear in the poll. "Spitzer is worse than all the others." This is how fair the DK is, jharp.
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at 10:14 AM
Fred I have to agree with the poll. It is worse when a repubugnican does this kind of thing because even the dems expect more from them. Everyone expects dems to be cretins so no one is surprised when a Barney Frank's room mate is running a male whore service out of his own home. Clinton to Juanita Broderick after ALLEDGEDLY raping her...."you oughta put some ice on that"
Posted by: WAHOO WILLIE | Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at 10:22 AM
Spitzer was clearly exaggerating. Objects suggested by the placement of hands may be smaller than they appear. Contents may shrink during processing. Package is sold by weight, not by volume.
