This is incorrect. The McCain in the article is John McCain Sr. who is the *grandfather* of the GOP nominee.

John S. McCain Jr. lived to be 70 years old; he was born in 1911, died in 1981. He lived his biblical threescore and ten.

John S. McCain, Sr. ended up as four star admiral, not a vice admiral.

"Departing immediately after the ceremony, McCain died of a heart attack at his home in Coronado, California on September 6, 1945. He was posthumously promoted to full admiral."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_S._McCain%2C_Sr.

Always have respected our veterans as everyone here does too.

Always troubled me how Senator Kerry was treated regarding his service in Vietnam.

As a matter of fact I will never forget the band aids mocking his purple heart. Can't recall where it was but I do recall it was at a gathering of rightwingers.

I thought it was disgraceful then and I still do. As a matter of fact I thought it was one of the disgraceful things I've seen your party do and that is saying a lot.

You all need to give it some serious thought. Especially those who call themselves Christians.

Found it.

Delegates to the Republican National Convention... sporting adhesive bandages with small purple hearts on them.

Doesn't this make you all feel proud? The republican party of the past 10 years is a disgrace to our great country.

Jesus clearly hates the wicked John McCain. He allows little yellow people to torture him and then sends rays of light to poison him.

The bandaid bit does seem childish and lacking.

And the Swift Boat business seems to be unwarranted on the surface, and politically motivated. Nobody ever said that Bush was one to play nice politics.

But one is still lead to question Kerry's "Winter Soldier" and other anti-war activities.

Harpo, John Kerry, a real comrade warrior for all seasons, reported for duty to Congress. He told Congress, and others, he himself, as a war criminal, burned villages and his band of warrior brothers raped, pillaged, murdered and destroyed similar to Genghis Kahn's military.

"The republican party of the past 10 years is a disgrace to our great country."

Harpo, you are calling Barack and Hillary liars? Both of them look at our country and do not say it is great. They say the people are jobless, the people have no health care, they say our giant corporations are crooked and corrupt, they say our political system is broken, they say everything must be changed, then it would be a great country. Harpo, I am shocked and dismayed by your dissing of the Dem leaders.

Honk honk.

Harpo, the docs are ready to see you now; you can go right in. Oh, one thing. Could you take off that multi-colored cap you have on with the floppy points with bells at the end? It will make it easier for them to examine your huge brain.

Did you, Harpo from Gary, Indiana, see Marlon Brando in "Streetcar Names Desire"? There is a scene wherein he says to Blanch Dubois:

Blanch, you seem to me to be the typical white person type. I used to date this girl. She said, I am the typical white person type.' I said, so what.

Sorry, "Streetcar NAMED Desire".

One of you, or perhaps fewer, may be wondering who I am. I've made comments here before, before Obama's latest gaff about typical white people. I used to use a more glamorous-type name with French overtones. You see, I am the glamorous type. Now you may say: "So what."
I understand. But my grampa came to the US via Ellis Island as a child. His parents looked at the America of those days, you know before it became a really terrible place, and said to themselves lets use a better last name than the one we have now, Schniklegrubberholenhoff. Let's change it to Yourtypicalwhiteperson. And so it was that I became Fred S. (for Schniklegrubberholenhoff) Yourtypicalwhiteperson. I'm sure you will be hearing my real last name a lot today.

It's 'gaffe' you old fool. It must be lonely in your trailer if you are responding to your own posts.

Thanks, for the spellcheck Mr. InStamford. You can take your hand out of the hole in your pocket now.

Any time, patriot. It's the least a grateful nation can do for a hero like you.

More bad news for harpo and boob.

Regarding Kerry, harpo, he got out as soon as he could, after 4 months, having managed to get himself awarded 3 purple hearts for minor flesh wounds. He then came home and launched a political carreer by defaming "his comrades". He gave comfort to the enemy. He showed so much respect for his office and the people he represents that he got up in the Senate and claimed Nixon had sent him an a covert mission to Cambodia around Christmas in 1968. There was a slight problem with that particular lie. It was a month before Nixon was inaugurated.

You feel sorry for Kerry. You must be delusional. He got back 1% of what he deserved.

Where do you get your news? The View?

"It's 'gaffe' you old fool. It must be lonely in your trailer if you are responding to your own posts". The boob

As if you have company in your parent's basement.

How is your war, Terry? Still 'winning'? The longer it lasts, the more victories there are to report! Thank you once again for your service.

I feel safer already!

Terry Gain,

Who you gonna believe. Earth Times or General Patreus?

Just can't stop dissing our veterans, huh. You Terry, are a disgrace to America. Senator Kerry put his life on the line for his country. Nothing less.

And no I don't feel sorry for Kerry. I think he is doing fine.

I am repulsed by todays republicans mocking his war injuries. And I don't care if it was only a hang nail.

"...you old fool..." Hahaha. The Boob has chosen the wrong field to play the bigot in. If one is a racial bigot of either race one doesn't have to worry about ever becoming the opposite race. But if the Boob lives long enough, by avoiding AIDS, for example, he will himself become old. Since he is already a fool, he will then be a bigot against his own stereotyped group. Most amusing. He ain't the brightest streetlight on our street, is he.

"todays" should be today's, Harpo, you disgrace to our formerly great country. Ask the BoobinBridgeport. He'll tell ya.

"by avoiding AIDS"

You angry old geezers are funny. Why not just relax, be happy and watch your prostate grow.

Over and out, patriot!

Yourtypicalwhiteperson,

Have you thought of changing your name to Typicalknuckledraggingneocon.

Yes, I omitted an apostophe. I am sorry that I have shamed our country in such a way.

"you disgrace to our formerly great country"

You disgrace to the human race.

"--- You disgrace to the human race. ---"

"--- You angry old geezers are funny. Why not just relax, be happy and watch your prostate grow. ---"

Such nasty and heated invectives coming from the party of reparations, entitlements, maternalistic government, patchouli, and "certainly ain't no racism..." (sit down, Sen. Byrd) "...going on here"-ness.

Sounds like some of y'all need to take some sensitivity training and diversity training with a concentration on "respect for one's elders".

"--- I am repulsed by todays republicans mocking his (Sen. John Kerry's) war injuries. And I don't care if it was only a hang nail. ---"

Somehow, I doubt that Sen. Kerry's minor injuries come even close to being detained and brutally tortured both psychologically and physically by the North Vietnamese for over fiver years, no?

And while Sen. McCain, by the grace of God, survived his ordeal with honor and without impugning his command or his service, or his fellow soldiers/airmen/sailors/Marines, despite whatever other personal flaws he has.

I'm not entirely sure what the point of this little cheer lead for McCain is, other than to say that his family was big in the navy. No doubt his father and grandfather had distinguished careers, and if either of them were running for President, I'd be happy to look at their histories and voting records too.

But if Bush 43 has taught us anything, its that the apple can fall pretty far from the tree. The son hasn't half the intellect or a quarter of the integrity of his father - and his father wasn't exactly a moral stalwart. If you are trying to imply that McCain would be an able commander and chief because he had important parents... well, never let a conservative fail to make the same mistake twice.

Of course, I guess McCain should consider himself very, very lucky. His parents named him "John" and not some funny sounding name of our enemies. Heaven forbid his middle name had been Adolf or Joseph or Guevera, the entire GOP would have dumped his sorry ass decades ago for having the audacity to be born with such an un-American name. Thank god twice over that he didn't align himself ideologically with the Democrats, or we'd be hearing how he was such a shitty pilot back in Vietnam and how he's a double-secret communist surrender monkey today.

Because, as we all know, the greatest sin you can commit in America today is to stick a little (D) after your name.

seeker,

"Somehow, I doubt that Sen. Kerry's minor injuries come even close to being detained and brutally tortured both psychologically and physically by the North Vietnamese for over fiver years, no?"

You are probably correct. So what. That wasn't my point nor does it have anything to do with what I posted.

My point was Senator Kerry risked his life as a soldier in a war.

And at the Republican National Convention the attendants mocked his injuries by wearing band aids with purple hearts printed on them.

It was a repulsive disgraceful act by republicans and they should be ashamed.

"My point was Senator Kerry risked his life as a soldier in a war." He does deserve that much respect.

"And at the Republican National Convention the attendants mocked his injuries by wearing band aids with purple hearts printed on them." Yeah, not very nice.

"It was a repulsive disgraceful act by republicans and they should be ashamed." As he should be for dishonoring brave men with much more serious wounds and tossing his medals away. Mostly he should be ashamed for lying about atrocities that he supposedly witnessed and, as an officer, for doing nothing about any that may have actually occured.

"--- Because, as we all know, the greatest sin you can commit in America today is to stick a little (D) after your name. ---"

Nah, Fox News has done that at least twice... here is one such case:

WAHOO,

"It was a repulsive disgraceful act by republicans and they should be ashamed." As he should be for dishonoring brave men with much more serious wounds and tossing his medals away. Mostly he should be ashamed for lying about atrocities that he supposedly witnessed and, as an officer, for doing nothing about any that may have actually occured."

Cannot disagree with you. But I come from the camp that our soldiers deserve the benefit of the doubt and deserve to be cut some slack.

As I understand it war truly is hell and it's impact goes much deeper than physical wounds.

The Kerry story that really stuck with me was his chasing down a young Vietnamese and killing him. Pretty heavy shit.

Then coming home and realizing the entire war was based on a lie and we had no business fighting it.

I'm sure that would have a profound impact on me and I might even say something that I'd later regret.

Harpy I wont disagree with any of that. Except to say that when you say: "I'm sure that would have a profound impact on me and I might even say something that I'd later regret." That you seem like the type who may also be MAN enough to apologize for lying about what you saw.

skip wicked wiki and go to the horse's mouth. the arlington national cemetery website has all the correct info..

"the arlington national cemetery website has all the correct info.."

Care to be more specific?

www.arlingtoncemetery.net/mccainjr.htm

"That you seem like the type who may also be MAN enough to apologize for lying about what you saw."

Thank you for the kind compliment and you are right.

I take great pride in telling the truth and admitting when I'm wrong. It's how I choose to live my life.

"I take pride in telling the truth and admitting when I'm wrong."

That's a crock of bullshit if I ever heard it. Jesus, man, at least be real.

Maybe Harpy is Zifnab/Llama's coworker in the Texas Bull Shipping Corportation?

"Just can't stop dissing our veterans, huh. You Terry, are a disgrace to America. Senator Kerry put his life on the line for his country. Nothing less." jharp

Nothing less? You completely ignore his actions when he came home. I did not denigrate Kerry's very brief service in Vietnam. I simply pointed out some of the facts of his service. What is disgraceful was his libelling and slandering those he left behind. They honorably served out their full terms of deployment, or were injured or killed doing so, rather than gaming the system as he had.

harpo, your hysterical reaction to the posting of these disturbing facts is amusing.
