Did Obama say anything about those progressive people who black-faced Lt Gov Michael Steele or ridiculed Secretary of State Rice as an 'aunt Jemima who is a lackey for the white guy'?

Any reference to the Democrats doing the dirty on these exceptional Americans?

When did Condi and that idiot Michael Steele become 'exceptional'??? I did hear that Barry found a pubic hair on his Coke, though.

"--Did Obama say anything about those progressive people who black-faced Lt Gov Michael Steele or ridiculed Secretary of State Rice as an 'aunt Jemima who is a lackey for the white guy'?--"

Wow. He didn't condemn the Tiananmen Square incident or reproach the Frost family for having granite counter tops either. Way to stay topical, Syn. Not one word about the Duke Lacross Rape Scandal. And he didn't have a single bad thing to say about Osama bin Laden. What is he hiding?!

That Frost vs. SCHIP item a few months back sure was a sockologer of a thread, weighing in at nearly 400 posts, IIRC.

http://www.riehlworldview.com/carnivorous_conservative/2007/10/alright-thats-e.html

Hopefully we need not be distractly by a family of headed by a wealthy, loveable goof of a dreamer who just can't find a job with benefits, and has a house replete with granite countertops and Genoese tile or what-have-you, and can focus on dismembering the speech of a one empty-suited, gild-split-tongued hero of America's underclasses, one Barry "Heinrich" Obama.

*sockdologer.

It is hard to listen to him and determine what he said. As he speaks one is put into a trance and logic sleeps the sleep of the heavy dreamer. I did hear him blame talk radio for some of this country's universal poverty, sick people without health care, people without jobs (Where are those people going in their cars and buses every weekday, I wonder?), racists of all races, unjust wars, and other terrible things. Well, he does reside in Chicago and Washington. No wonder he is so gloomy.

But are things really that bad? The Boob/chris goes on publishing his rabid comments, unafraid he will be imprisoned for them. Could it be there is nothing to fear from the government concerning free speech? Yes, nothing to fear in speaking freely, unless one is in a university.

If you can't understand the words coming out of his mouth, try reading the transcript written on any number of websites. If you feel yourself being put into some sort of hypnotic trance, stop taking the oxycotin or perhaps seek the aid of a professional psychologist, as you may be suffering from mental issues. If none of these things work for you, I guess you'll be forced to vote Republican in the fall.

"I did hear him blame talk radio."

While I generally think this logic silly and distain any idea of limiting free speech, I have been putting some thought into this talk radio thing. Specifically the hosts, ALL OF THEM,constantly decrying tax hikes under the dems as if they will affect us all. Most of what I've read about tax hikes are for "the rich". Of course, none of the candidates defines "rich" so I've no idea who they are. I do know that everyone of those big mouths on both sides are what I consider rich so I see why they dont want theior taxes raised. Just a thought.

"--Of course, none of the candidates defines "rich" so I've no idea who they are.--"

"The Rich" as defined by Pelosi and most of the other Congressional tax hikers are those in the highest income tax bracket. People making over $200k / year. "The Rich" are also those who benefit most from the 15% capital gains tax - a tax that Democrats plan to raise back to its pre-Bush Tax Cut 25%+ level.

I don't know how anyone with a salary can complain about a 25% capital gains tax when they are almost certainly paying 25% of income greater than $25k in federal payroll taxes (plus another 6.2% for Social Security and 1.2% for medicare). But that's just my opinion.

Obama framed Wright's occasionally lathered-up sermons in the context of frustration within the African-American experience.

Obama claimed his white grandmother's racial stereotyping caused him to cringe. Did Wright's views cause Obama to cringe? Possibly - but obviously not enough to deny him a seat on his presidential advisory board.

No one can be held accountable for what another person says or does. But submitting yourself to another person's counsel - suggests either affinity, or poor judgement. Neither are desirable in a presidential contender.

Still, I find Obama to be a great American, and a potential leader. Perhaps a little naive evidenced by some misplaced loyalty. Nevertheless, I think he should survive this issue. The cream rises to the top (cream is absolutely no reference to color). I am a Republican and I think Obama deserves another chance!

"---

---"

If this is so, I can't say that I have a great big problem with it -- as long as the tax cuts can remain in place for the under 200k limit.

BTW, is that 200k per family, or $200k per individual (meaning that a family grossing under $400k would not get lose the tax cut) ?

And for the super rich (not corporations, but private individuals) grossing over a million per year - especially them hedge fund folks living on investment income only - I probably would not cry too hard if the tax brackets on them went up a few notches to pay down our national debt, among other things - to bring back the value of the dollar.

Of course, this being predicated on the additional income being used for things like rebuilding infrastructure and developing urban/post-suburban design that reduces dependence on foreign oil, as well as funding alternative energy R&D, re-acquiring gold and silver in anticipation of reverting our currency to a hard specie-backed money, and deciding upon a reasonable and reachable goal so as to bring the troops home, and let Japan, Europe, and nearly every other place on the planet where we have the Army patrolling back home, save for a few vital naval ports of call.

Oh, and indexing those income limits for inflation would be nice too. Can't say as I like the notion of worrying about whether or not I'll be bit by the AMT this or that year or the next.

So Hussein 'Tinker Bell' Obama admits (deep in the speech) that he has heard some of the 'racist' rot from the heavenly Revrund Wright. Again he assumes 'whitey' just fell off the turnip truck and tells a totally different story than he told on the Sunday propaganda shows. He could win a hillbilly story telling contest but they don't pay millions of dollars. Guess he'll just keep lying for the big money.

Barack Hussein Obama must think that the Dems are totally stupid, and granted, as an independent conservative, there truly have been times when I have thought so as well, but in this attempt to distance himself from his ‘longtime pastor’, an individual that has exhibited gross hatred for the United States of America and prejudice against all of white America, Obama has only widened the chasm between the races and the parties…

There is NO WAY that Barack Hussein Obama attended this persons church and claimed this person as a spiritual advisor for the last 20 years and can then say that he, Obama, didn’t KNOW that these were the views held and espoused by Wright, there is no way that these very same views aren’t those held by Obama himself, regardless of what his current words say, you don’t attend a HATE church, led by a HATE preacher, for that length of time, and not be in agreement WITH him, because if you don’t agree with him, why keep attending??

Why continue to listen to, and follow the rhetoric of a hate filled person calling himself a preacher of God’s word as that so-called preacher hides behind his title and muddies all lines of decency with his vitriolic hate of all things white and American, unless you are Wright’s disciple and hold those exact same views yourself??

Obama is either a closet American hater and a racist or he is a liar and a hypocrite of the worst order, either way, Barack Hussein Obama is the WRONG person to hold the highest office in this land, and if the Democratic citizens of Illinois have any dignity left in them, once this is over they will NOT return this lying hypocrite to the U.S. Senate…

Many say that racism is alive and well in America, and they are correct, it is, and people like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and now Jeremiah Wright make us all painfully aware of that fact as they keep radical racial issues and all around hatred inflamed simply because it serves their purposes, even if the continued hatred destroys America, as long as individuals like them can make a few dollars off of their hatred, that hatred will continue, and ALL Americans will suffer from that hatred, black and white, as long as hatred and racism is preached, regardless of who is doing the preaching, hatred and racism will remain alive and well in this nation…

What did he say? In a nutshell:

"In his recent speech, Obama mentions that “to the untrained ear”, a congregation such as his may indeed seem foreign, offensive or
confusing to people unfamiliar with the “process”."

In other words, we're ignorant and intollorant for pointing out hate speech in the Revs. sermons.

Then he proved hinself a liar by first claiming to have known nothign about the hate speech by the Rev., then claiming he infact did hear it but....

Then he refused to dissasociate hismelf with hte Rev.

Then he lectured us on how we should accept the hate speech from the Rev because hte Rev. grew up in bad times (imagine someone saying we shoudl accept the hate speech of the KKK or any other organization simply because they grew up in a time when it wasn't condemned)

Then he threw his white Grandmother under hte bus by exposing her fear of black folks and suggested that we should not ask him to dissasociate himself from the Rev because he 'can't dissasociate hismelf from his Grandmother or the black community.

Then he basically told us that 'this is just how hte black churhc thinks, just deal with it and don't expect me to genuinely rebuke the Rev nor distance myself from his hateful speeches.'

So in the end, We're all to blame for the Rev. Obama's grandmother is to blame, his wife is to blame, but by golly, Obama is never to blame, nor should white America call him to hte carpet because he's the great uniter messiah.

"People making over $200k / year. "The Rich" are also those who benefit most from the 15% capital gains tax - a tax that Democrats plan to raise back to its pre-Bush Tax Cut 25%+ level."

OK LLama let's look at this differently. I've got a little mom n pop taco shop in El Paso that's just barely making me 50-55 G a year. Course 32.4% of everything over 25k goes to Uncle Sam, then there is state and county taxes, oh and insurance, plus taco fixins and co-cola. Esmerelda and Jaunita swim over from Jaurez each day to wait tables and they have to be paid. Thank goodness I don't have to pay SS and Workers Comp since they're "undocumented" and Maw can make good burritos. Then there's that pink haired daughter of mine and her tuition to UT. We tried to get her into OSU, but with a 915 SAT and 2.8 GPA, a good education was impossible. (sorry, had to) So maw and me have worked our asses off for forty years in this place, never could afford to even buy CDs or bonds and 70 is coming up soon. The Walmart wants our property and is offering 250k for it. Our daughter says it's wise to sell so El Paso doesnt condemen and sieze the place. That quarter million will pay of all our debt and with SS allow us to live out our remaining years just below what we're used to. SO in my last year of work I've made 50k and sold out for 250k. How much of the rest of my life is Sam going to take?

"I don't know how anyone with a salary can complain about a 25% capital gains tax when they are almost certainly paying 25% of income greater than $25k in federal payroll taxes (plus another 6.2% for Social Security and 1.2% for medicare). "

A: I dare say you dont understand because you aren't paying 32.4% of any of your check.

B: No one minds Trump paying 25% of a multi million dollar property. But how would you feel when dad's gone and it's time to put mom in a home...and you (the estate) have to has to pay 25% of the gain from selling the family farm?

Obama and his wife are both recipients of not just one, but two, degrees from universities that most Americans can only dream of sending their children to; but we have not progressed and have been in a racial statemate for forty years. His wife earns nearly 3/4th of a million in three years, but we have not progressed and have been in a racial stalemate for forty years. Affirmative action, black judges, the narrowing of income inequality narrowing with every passing year, home ownership among minorities at an all time high, and we have not progressed and have been in a racial stalemate for forty years.

And of course, corporations [run by rich white people] are evil. Talk show hosts are evil. And basically [what I heard] was that while Wright's comments were over the top, they were no more over the top than Obama assumes other churches, parishes and synagogues are. Perhaps Obama would be well served to have attended other churches if he thinks that Wright's rhetoric is the norm and not the exception.

What I also heard was that only by voting for him, can we transend past sins and hatreds. Only he offers the chance for national redemption.

B: No one minds Trump paying 25% of a multi million dollar property. But how would you feel when dad's gone and it's time to put mom in a home...and you (the estate) have to has to pay 25% of the gain from selling the family farm?

Inheritances tax exemptions are something like $3 million. Very few estates - I think it's less than 5% actually pay estate taxes. So paying the inheritance tax isn't driving anyone into the poorhouse. And I don't think anyone's ever found a case of a family farmer who lost the farm because of the inheritance tax.

But it makes for a nice story.

The Catecism of the Audacity of Hype by Brother Love and the Travelling Salvation Show

My favorite line: "It is not enough to give health care to the sick, or jobs to the jobless, or education to our children."

Who shall give them healthcare O Messiah? Why those undertaxed, greedy, rich people taking more than their "fair share" of the economic pie. Despite paying over one half of all income taxes in America, it is not enough. Don't they realize that they really don't "own" their incomes or property. It is I, your Messiah, who shall smite them for their greed and provide an enlarged government department to provide "free" healthcare to all. I shall do this without wrecking the economy by disincentivizing effort, investment, risk-taking and just rewards. I am the Messiah and can work miracles.

Where shall the jobless get jobs dear Savior? Why, good paying government jobs, like Social Worker. I shall not rest until every American has his or her own Social Worker. Again, I will work the same miracle above. I will not wreck the economy. I am such a genius and my supporters so intelligent that we will pick and coddle the "winners" of the "new" economy that the federal government shall choose and regulate all competitors. I will work my miracle powers so that the "greedy corporations" will magically become altruists and none shall ever become addicted to my new tariffs, corporate welfare and monopoly policies. My magical venture capital skills will dazzle and amaze those other than those irrational greedy people who move their money and investments offshore to escape my low rates of return and high inflation.

Last, who shall educate our children Chosen One? We shall elide that troublesome Constitution thingy that assigns responsibility for educating children to the administrative divisions of the federal government known as "states". We shall mandate that these entities spend even more "investment" dollars than they do currently and hire more administrators to determine continually that their spending is insufficient, staffed by the altruists of the teachers unions. Again, I shall not wreck the economy. In fact, I have determined that logic shall not be an essential core curriculum matter so that we can safely ignore that there is no correlation between spending and outcomes (a la the District of Columbia school system). We shall instead focus on "our hearts being in the right place" and "feeling good about ourselves" by spending ("investing!") other people's money.

Raise high the red flag, Comrade.

So Saith He Who By His Presence Brings Us Together--and you are a heartless, racist, troglodyte for not believing so

Well he was right about one thing. All white men are going to vote for McCain.

"All white men are going to vote for McCain."

You mean all 'useless' 'old' white men, right?

Why is no one asking how well Obama's message of "hope" and "change" fared in his own home district when he was a state Senator? Why does no one ask if his friend, Tony Rezko, while contributing to Obama's campaign coffers also contributed to the pervasive blight in the Chicago inner city that was Obama's district? Did Obama do anything to improve the lives of those living in Rezko buildings that had substandard plumbing and often no heat in the dead of winter? Did the schools in the 13th District improve? Did children no longer have to walk past the drug dealers on their way to a substandard school? Did the gang population decrease? How about jobs? Did Obama set up a day care system so that undereducated citizens could take GED classes knowing that an education was one step on the road out of proverty? Did he help bring in businesses that needed workers and set up job fairs to help those businesses find workers? Or was his message as empty as it seems not having any real effect on those Illinoisans who voted for him? But no one has asked. And my guess is, no one ever will.

The bar has been set. Obama himself has made this campaign about race. It is a "them against us" policy and as he talks of "moving on" past the divide, he himself just gave a speech that let's us know the divide is alive and well [in his view] in black churches.

Since Obama has made his race his Presidential campaign then all his supporters must be racists.

"-- Since Obama has made his race his Presidential campaign then all his supporters must be racists. --"

Shorter Syn: I don't follow politics.

"-- Well he was right about one thing. All white men are going to vote for McCain. --"

Someone inform the Iowa caucuses.

"-- Who shall give them healthcare O Messiah? Why those undertaxed, greedy, rich people taking more than their "fair share" of the economic pie. I really do love this logic. Income taxes in this country are capped at 33% and 15% for salary and capital gains, respectively. So the subset of people paying half of all income taxes in America are - by mathematical necessity - making at least half again what the rest of the country earns. So, in short, the people who make the most money are paying the most in taxes. Remind me again why this is a problem?

Furthermore, remind me why if guy A gets paid in stock options, he is taxed at a 15% rate, while if he is paid in salary cash he can be taxed between 25% and 33% of his income? That makes absolutely no sense, but its how Donald Trump and Warren Buffet (two major proponents of raising taxes in America) pay a smaller percentage of their income to the US Government than you or I do.

No one ever seems to successfully explain this dilemma while they're screeching and frothing about how "Commu-Social-Islamo-Fascist Obama is gonna RAISE OUR TAXES!"

Finally,

"-- On his radio show, Rush Limbaugh said that Barack Obama was now "the candidate of race."

He said Obama "is not an agent of racial healing, he is a product of it."

He accuses of Obama of wanting to be the nation's racial-healer-in-chief, rather than its commander-in-chief. --"

Why is that a bad thing? Do you honestly prefer the alternative - some sort of bigot-in-chief or apathetic-to-intolerance-commander? Since when does the President have to make a choice between handling domestic issues and playing dress up on the decks of aircraft carriers?

If this is really a "negative" in Rush's column, what on god's green earth does that man plan on electing to high office?

(clears throat)

"my fellow amerikkkans,

hope hope hope! change change change!"

(big sincere smile)

"thank you and good day."

Shorter John McCain:

If you liked George Bush, you're gonna love me.

"--- "He accuses of Obama of wanting to be the nation's racial-healer-in-chief, rather than its commander-in-chief."

Why is that a bad thing?
---"

Because I'd rather not elect some empty suit to cavil over identity politicking, perhaps? Because I'd rather him win the war (or at least obtain a reasonable objective tangent to removing Islamist menace to our citizens here) and get our troops back home and engaged in border defense and perhaps even some civil engineering projects like fixing up broken bridges?

Because maybe, just maybe, I'd want to have a president who has a clue about how to revive our broken economy, and who could appoint someone more responsible to handle the Federal Reserve than "Helicopter Ben" (if we cannot simply disband it and start backing our money with rare metals or some sort of reliable and hard to inflate specie) ...?

Every time Barry O. stumps on race issues, he grows more divisive by leaps and bounds. We really don't need to be reminded about the 1-2% of the population whose bread and butter comes from race-baiting. It'd be nice to think we have better things to do with our time and mental efforts.

IslamoLlama, are you even aware that 40% of the wage earners in the U.S. pay NO taxes due to the Earned Income Credit rule? Are you aware that the Democrats, which Obama is one, wants to increase the taxes on all families making over $62,000 a year? Why should those who use the least in services be the ones to pay the most for it?
Poverty, and a low income, is not something that is set in stone, like the color of your eyes and the size of your ears. It is determined by the decisions people make. Try reading Thomas Sowell or Clarance Thomas.

Obama told us that he only took [around] $60,000 from Tony Rezko. Ooops, that figure now seems to be around $250,000 that he has had to return or give to charity. Obama told us, for a week, that he had never heard Rev. Wright speak such hate rhetoric when he was in the pew of Trinity. Ooops, now he said he did. But the one thing you have to give Obama credit for is his arrogance. The arrogance that he, the great black hope and change artist, would never have to answer for these things as we have reached a level of political correctness that would not permit it. Even as the front runner, the nation would never dare to ask those hard questions from a man who is trying to bridge the divide in the nation. We have not seen that kind of arrogance since William Jefferson Clinton. We do not need to see it again.

IslamoLlama:

I can agree that the tax code is FUBAR. However, it is a "progressive" system designed by Liberals to be "fair". I do not defend it and will not.

If Donald Trump and Warren Buffett wish their taxes raised, great. Let us introduce the stupid capitalist tax that is 110% (200% if you are in the entertainment industry)of your wealth. It applies to those of great wealth advocating taxes being raised because "we" are not taxed "enough". If so, "we" get to expropiate all of "your" wealth.

However, if we want a truly "fair" system, introduce a no-exemption, no "credit" flat tax on incomes (like in Hong Kong or Eastern European countries). Let everyone put their shoulder to the wheel, including those who are getting tax rebate checks for taxes they never paid.

I betcha the Messiah does not advocate anything so radical. If he was really against "special interests" then he would smite the tax code and replace it with something lobbyist free.

One of the best take downs of Brother Love I have yet read.

Why not? Because the medium is the message. Obama is an empty vessel that you fill with whatever you want. It doesn't matter to Democrats that the emporer has no clothes, he's "change you can believe in". He's a miracle cure.

Well this is the year of block voting. 50% white women will vote for Hillary. All blacks will vote for Obama. All white men will vote for McCain. End result: a really resounding win for Johnny McCain and a big disappointment for white women and black folks.

"my fellow amerikkkans,
compassionate conservatism!"
(big scary face) "TERR'RISTS!
thank you and good day."

"--I can agree that the tax code is FUBAR. However, it is a "progressive" system designed by Liberals to be "fair". I do not defend it and will not. --"

:p The tax code that's been on the books since the 20s is hardly a "progressive" system. Eisenhower and Nixon had no problems with a 70% tax on people making millions a year. Even Reagen and Bush 41 weren't afraid of raising taxes when necessary.

That said, the flat tax gets kicked around every ten years or so, and is regularly shot down when people realize that taking X% from everyone - be you prince or pauper - either rapes those with small incomes or fails to support the budget of the greatest nation on earth. You want to take 30% from the guy making minimum wage? Great. Enjoy your poverty riots. You want to run a government on a 23% sales tax? I hope you're not too attached to that $500 billion / year military.

Bear Sterns just picked up a $30 billion bailout this week. Victims of Katrina had $8.3 billion to work with.
http://www.fema.gov/news/newsrelease.fema?id=39209

By that math, why shouldn't the richest Americans be paying three times as much of their income as their poverty-stricken neighbors?

And if you don't like EITC - a Republican invention designed to replace welfare checks - then perhaps you'll be willing to raise the minimum wage to match inflation. Sure, EITC lets small businesses get away with paying their employees below a living wage, but we've got to be "fair" to everyone. Far be it for the might conservative mind to consider why a program exists when he can just scream "handout" and forget about it.

"But it makes for a nice story."

I guess you're right worst. Here I was thinking both parents hide to be dead for the children to inherit anything and thereby pay inheritance taxes. But since you're so much smarter I guess selling the houose to put mom in a nursing home is the same thing as being dead.

In fairness I misused the word "estate" and that likely confused you.

"-- Well this is the year of block voting. 50% white women will vote for Hillary. All blacks will vote for Obama. All white men will vote for McCain. End result: a really resounding win for Johnny McCain and a big disappointment for white women and black folks. --"

A) McCain only gets to run against Hillary or Obama. There won't be three names on the ticket in November.
B) Check your demographics. Dems have been beating Reps in primary turn-out anywhere between 2 and 9 fold. If half the Obama voters go to Clinton or half the Clinton voters go to Obama, and McCain gets all Romney and Huckabee and Paul voters, the Dem candidate still wins a landslide victory.
C) White men love Barack Obama. Women in general love Barack Obama. Young people in general love Barack Obama. Black people have been polling 30-50% of voter registration turning out to vote for their dude. McCain and Hillary split the over-75 vote.
D) OMG! Take a course in civics and another in statistics before you hurt yourself. If you're going to play political pundit prophet, the least you can do is learn the basic election math.

Islamobama: I explained this once or twice before so I will do it one last time. In the primaries white men(nationwide)have been voting for Obama to get rid of Hillary. Once Obama has rid us of the hated Hillary(who would run much stronger against McCain)and Obama is the Dem nominee well when the general election arrives in Nov. All white men will then vote for McCain.
McCain will then easily defeat Obama.

IslamoLlama:

Its obvious you do not appreciate the difference between a loan and government spending. Bear Stearns borrowed money from JP Morgan. FEMA spent the people's money on its projects.

I am not surprised. Democrat policies are always about using the levers of government to allow some to live at the expense of someone else. Bugger your neighbor, you're a hapless victim. That is the crux of "social justice".

If you are so earnestly concerned about the lack of government funding why don't you voluntarily pay over all money you demand of everyone else to the revenue now? My quess is that it is taxation for thee and not for me.

The UofU scholar speaks: "Furthermore, remind me why if guy A gets paid in stock options, he is taxed at a 15% rate, while if he is paid in salary cash he can be taxed between 25% and 33% of his income? That makes absolutely no sense, but its how Donald Trump and Warren Buffet (two major proponents of raising taxes in America) pay a smaller percentage of their income to the US Government than you or I do."

Moe, you must address your complaints to the Congresspersons who developed our impossibly complex, unfair, loophole-ridden, motive-confused tax code. Did you know that is their function? Did you know roughly 40% Americans pay no taxes whatever? Did you know that, Moe?

As for Buffet and Trump favoring more taxes, ask them why they don't simply donate more of their money to the government. There is nothing preventing their voluntarily paying more. Also, ask Mr. Clinton why he used to deduct a gift of his used underwear from his income tax? He is clearly one of the rich.
