Obama At HuffPo: Why It Doesn't Fly
I don't think this is quite over - and I agree about doing it on a Friday afternoon being dubious as it allows for little immediate follow on. But rumor has it he may be on Fox tonight. And let's not forget the double-talk angle. One hour before he posted at HuffPo his campaign released word Wright would maintain his post with the campaign, however ceremonial. Talk about having it both ways - geesh!
The pastor of my church, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, who recently preached his last sermon and is in the process of retiring, has touched off a firestorm over the last few days. He's drawn attention as the result of some inflammatory and appalling remarks he made about our country, our politics, and my political opponents.
Let me say at the outset that I vehemently disagree and strongly condemn the statements that have been the subject of this controversy. I categorically denounce any statement that disparages our great country or serves to divide us from our allies. I also believe that words that degrade individuals have no place in our public dialogue, whether it's on the campaign stump or in the pulpit. In sum, I reject outright the statements by Rev. Wright that are at issue.

Finally, Obama is outed as a racist. Ever seen his wife at some of the rallys? She can't even hide her hateful racist views. As soon as she opened her mouth in SC, I knew she was a racist. Thank God they have been called out on it.

How did the Church of Christ managed to become so hateful, racist, and anti-Christ?
Or has it always been this way?
I don't think so. I have a very good friend who is Church of Christ, and she's more conservative than I am (although that has nothing to do with her religion). She's white, BTW. TUCC is just one Church of Christ--it's a big denomination.
Of course, my friend says that people do have some misconceptions about the Church of Christ and some even call it a "cult" (that would be from hardcore doctrine types--it's certainly not a common belief).
I wouldn't write of the Church of Christ because of this lunacy. Certainly, they're more liberal than, say, Southern Baptists or Catholics, but so are the Methodists, Presbyterians, etc.

Fron Patterico's Pontifications blog:
"One wonders about the timing, since it wasn’t news to Obama that his pastor of 20+ years says outrageous things in his sermons. As the New York Times article I linked this morning says:
According to the pastor, Mr. Obama then told him, “You can get kind of rough in the sermons, so what we’ve decided is that it’s best for you not to be out there in public.”
This is all reminiscent of the whole Goolsbee/NAFTA flap, isn’t it? The message: there are certain things we have to say in campaigns. Between you and me, don’t take it seriously.
Boy, Obama sure is different from other politicians, huh?

Nice job, Senator Obama.
Clear and concise refutation of stupid comments made by the pastor.
Can't wait until you're President.

Just watched Larry Elders being interviewed (author of Stupid Black Men). He said Wright is a combination of David Duke, Farakkhan and Mo from the Three Stooges.

How did the Church of Christ managed to become so hateful, racist, and anti-Christ?
Or has it always been this way?
Further, is the Church of Christ an example of the Religious Left?

I wouldn't say he's done yet. He's damaged, but the Friday news cycle timing *is* in his favor. Not in his favor: no other news to distract from it. If Pennsylvania's primary were this Tuesday, he'd be in REAL trouble, because Billary would annihilate him and all the talk would be about how Wright killed him. But it's not.
He's still going to get the nomination, but this issue is NOT going to just disappear. McCain will stay above the fray, as he should, but there's no way I will, and neither will anyone else opposing teh Obamessiah.
I don't see Obama actually LOSING a lot of support either, at least after he gets the nomination (he will lose some to Hillary in the voting booths, though). The Obama cult is in overdrive, trying to excuse all this shit and equate it to Hagee and Parsley's endorsements of McCain, which is beyond ridiculous. You have to be seriously committed to someone to keep up that risible exercise, and if they're doing it now in the heat of the moment, they aren't going to give it up when the news cools down. You know how the Left works--they'll just redefine everything and repeat it ad nauseum until it takes hold in the Obama-obsessed media.
I'm not too worried, though--I believe we've only scratched the surface with this charlatan. How hard is it to find out about his church, after all? Especially when it's a well-known church and people have been LOOKING at his religion because of the stupid closet-Muslim whispering campaign. This anti-American radical left shit doesn't exist in a vacuum, and we've already seen hints (William Ayers, Michelle's "mean America," etc.).
My hope: Billary beats him so badly in PA that superdelegates start to get wobbly, and Billary is forced to bring out the big guns on him to try to force the superdelegates' hands. I don't think for a minute that it'll work, but it *will* be fun to watch. And add to the dossier. ;)
Worst case scenario: Billary somehow miraculously pulls it off and she gets the nomination after all. At this point, Obama looks easier to beat, and if Billary can pull off the nomination, I don't doubt they could also win in November. It'd be a tough call, though.

Hold the pony! How long was this clown Obama's spiritual advisor?
Posted by: cindi | Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 12:32 AM
Done? Question is, do those supporting him, even have a clue what is required to be POTUS? I live in PA and we are starting to see the trickle or his campaign coming thru this neck of the woods. To be honest, the only supporters I am seeing are young yuppie kind of kids wearing his support buttons. Yep, you know the kind. My bet is they are all government social workers.

agreed, stick a fork in o'bama, he's done.

Someone in Chicago send out a fast car to catch the circus, they left their clown 'Howdy Doody' standing on stage alone and he don't remember anything from this afternoon.

Watching Hussein on FOX. Every excuse from this afternoon has changed tonight. He's not such a great speaker when you take his teleprompter away...He's made mistakes??????

I'm calling it. Stick a fork in Obama, he's done. This is his Kitty Dukakis moment.

So, far from throwing this fulminating fruitcake under the bus, Obamessiah is helping him onto the campaign bus. The ads just write themselves, don't they?
Oh, and nice find, Yarrr. Obama can't now claim that Wright's incendiary rhetoric and whitey-bashing were some kind of surprise he just discovered the last week or two.

"where white folks’ greed runs a world in need"
"Reverend Wright spoke of Sharpsville and Hiroshima, the callousness of policy makers in the White House and in the State House."
Mr Post-Everything loves to slyly attack the divisiveness of the religious right. He may have a good point about some of those leaders, but come on he's a hypocrite.

But somehow, somewhere along the way, faith stopped being used to bring us together and started being used to drive us apart. It got hijacked. Part of it’s because of the so-called leaders of the Christian Right, who’ve been all too eager to exploit what divides us. At every opportunity, they’ve told evangelical Christians that Democrats disrespect their values and dislike their Church…
