New Dem Poll: Don't Quit, Hillary - Rezko Bribed Iraqi Official?
A new Washington Post - ABC poll may come as a shock to some highly visible Democrats pressuring Hillary to leave the race without across the board victories today. And some telling splits among certain groups still spell big trouble for the Dems.
Two-thirds of Democrats say a victory in either Ohio or Texas would be reason enough for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) to keep her historic bid for the party's presidential nomination alive, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.
Personally, I think Hillary would be foolish to quit if she still has the desire to become President one day. She may never get any closer than she is now and much can happen in the seven weeks before Pennsylvania, where Hillary still has a lead. Add to that, the media finally seems ready to actually look at Obama with a critical eye, which could leave her looking like the stronger candidate in the Fall in the eyes of, among others, those Super Delegates.
Almost 1,000 Google News hits on Tony Rezko with this gem buried in the mix. Why was Obama against war with Iraq when over 80% of the country was for it at the time? Whether it's a fair question, or not ... it still might get asked.
In a footnote to a motion last week seeking to exclude some government evidence against Rezko, his defense lawyers disclosed for first time that prosecutors have alleged that Rezko paid a $1.5 million bribe to Iraq's former electricity minister to obtain a contract in that country. The alleged bribe was paid from an escrow account held by Bryan Cave, prosecutors said.
Also, from top link - of possible concern for Democrats in terms of coming together in the Fall ... these below are some very wide splits and someone has to lose.
Eight in 10 African Americans want Obama to be the party's standard-bearer, as do about two-thirds of younger voters ... Overall, white Democrats prefer Clinton by a 10-point margin, masking a wide gender gap: By about a 20-point margin, white women are more likely than white men to want Clinton to be the nominee.
Whites without college degrees and those with annual family incomes of less than $50,000 back Clinton, while those with more formal education and higher incomes split about evenly between her and Obama.

tk, I want to vist one of those chuck wagon cooking events but the steak cook off is probably fun as well.

Thanks, Fred and seek. I won't be going to the Steak Cookoff this year, but I highly recommend it as one of the really good festivals. It's in a small town, yet the festival regularly attracts 20,000 or so people, with 3000 eating steaks. We served steaks to people from as far away as Canada and Hawaii last year. The music and entertainment is first class, especially if you enjoy country and gospel, but the younger generation isn't left out, either. Rap and rock is always represented as well.

Gee, what was that I wonder?

Maybe John Kerry had a point, after all...

"What do you think it makes us look like when videos like that get out?" Well that's why chris posted it, isn't it? To make us look bad. And it does make us look bad. But you don't win, because the enemy looks worse.
"Even the people running the Nazi death camps were too ashamed to take pictures of themselves standing next to the piles of dead." You are ignorant, scar. They did take pictures of themselves in such circumstances.
"An Army of Bad Apples." No some bad apples. For instance, you and chris are angry, dim-witted pacifists who hate the United States. That doesn't mean we are a nation of bad apples like you two, now does it?
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Tuesday, March 04, 2008 at 03:49 PM
Wow, a one million man army and a handful make them all look bad, especially if you look hard enough to find it.

that 12-year-old savage, a product of his savage trainers, incompetently sawing off the head of a living man and the pouring of lighter fluid by some masked savages on three live prisoners and throwing them into a burning pit were a wee bit worse, wouldn't you say?
Geez, the puppy video was enough for one day. Do me a favor and send a link to it - tomorrow.
Posted by: chris | Tuesday, March 04, 2008 at 02:10 PM
The point?
What do you think it makes us look like when videos like that get out? Something is deeply wrong with those soldiers. Even the people running the Nazi death camps were too ashamed to take pictures of themselves standing next to the piles of dead. And it's not just the availability of camera phones. We have honest-to-god sociopaths running around, like this guy and Lynndie England. They show no remorse whatsoever.
I'm fully aware that this is a war and this "Heart of Darkness" stuff is nothing new. But if this is supposed to be a war of liberation, if we're supposed to be winning people over to our ideals and our way of life, we WILL fail with guys like this as our ambassadors. An Army of Bad Apples.
It's not PC to say this, but plenty of guys joined up after 9/11 for the wrong reasons, and it's showing. He's probably over there for revenge, and that's no better than the endless tribal warfare that's been going on forever in the Middle East, and there's no way in hell that it will have a happier ending.

Congrats TK, on your placing at the Magnolia Blossom festival. If you ever find yourself touring up on the northern east coast on a grilling circuit, be sure to let us know so some of us "Yankees by Circumstance" can taste a bit of TX.

Thanks, Boob. However, that 12-year-old savage, a product of his savage trainers, incompetently sawing off the head of a living man and the pouring of lighter fluid by some masked savages on three live prisoners and throwing them into a burning pit were a wee bit worse, wouldn't you say?
No excuse for the soldiers in this video, if that's who they were. The military is no better than the society as a whole, I suppose. How could it be? The big barrel and the small both have rotten apples.
What was your point again?

Hey, I've got a video of a couple of those savages for you.

My sentence: "Let the Iraq bloodbath begin with the few, but still dangerous, suicidal and murderous savages remaining there." was badly worded.
What I meant to write was: "Let the Iraq blood bath of Iraqis, by the few, but still dangerous, suicidal and murderous savages remaining there, begin."
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Tuesday, March 04, 2008 at 01:02 PM
Oh, the new liberal meme, scar? You agree we won years ago and it is all over. So naturally we should bring the troops home. Just as we did in Korea? Sure, sure. Let the Iraq bloodbath begin with the few, but still dangerous, suicidal and murderous savages remaining there. Their blood will be on the hands of the Dems if we leave there, just as in Vietnam. How many hundreds of thousands of dead would be enough to satisfy lefty nitwits like you, scar?
By the way, like Tom hagen in The Godfather, I'm German-Irish. Also, very funny comment. You sure are cute when you get angry.

"I once read a lot of history books."
Surely you meant comic books.

Todays democrats are yesterday's French. Never miss a chance to surrender. They can always hope They are one of the few they don't slaughter. I once read a lot of history books. B Hussein Obama (Islam party) could run lap for lap with Hitler in the BS race.

"They have to Steve. They are in a tough spot. They used to say 'we are defeated'. But reality says the enemy is being defeated. So now they have to change the argument to 'it costs too much to win'."
You want to talk defeatist, let's talk about the French traitors like Fred Beloit who insist that there's a "war" in Iraq, in blatant contravention of several objective facts of reality:
1) Cell phones, power grid, fresh-painted schools.
2) Remember Mission Accomplished day? The war's been over for years!
3) "We have found the weapons of mass destruction." - George W. Bush verifies that every claim his administration made was true. QED.
The way Fred and his islamomexofascidhimmicrat ilk tell it, the war in Iraq has been going on longer than WWII. My friends, you cannot get further into the BDS fever swamp than this. We won the Iraq war in two weeks and now we're just taking a victory lap.

"Why does every anti-war person take off on some long-winded rant?" asks SteveC.
They have to Steve. They are in a tough spot. They used to say 'we are defeated'. But reality says the enemy is being defeated. So now they have to change the argument to 'it costs too much to win'.
Now this guy Castrato, has to make this argument for socialism. It goes this way: The war is taking up all the money that the government steals from the productive citizens. If we stop the war, that stolen money can be used to pay my dentist for my new gold front tooth. Steve, it takes a lot of words to make this argument sound logical.

Boob, did you see me on National Television Sunday night? The Food Network highlighted the Magnolia Blossom Festival/World Championship Steak Cookoff Sunday night on their festival series, and there I was, in all my glory. Didn't win, but got a respectable 3rd Place.

For a country full of people who constantly complain they don't have enough it sure is funny to see Obama and Hillary raise $30 million plus for their personal campaign coffers month after month after month after month; where in the heck are these "poor" Democrats getting all this money!
In America we are living the world's dream yet there are some who believe they are worse off than poor Iraqis who don't even have indoor pumbing; it's sickening to see we have forgotten JFK's 'we shall bear any burden, pay any price' for liberty against tyranny for both ourselves and our friends.

A mysterious fugitive from Iraqi justice named Aiham Alsammarae, who is also a Chicago resident, is the focus of a politically fraught episode in the association between accused political fixer Antoin "Tony" Rezko, who goes on federal trial today in Chicago for graft, and Senator Barack Obama, the most spectacular Illinois presidential candidate in half a century.

"Every day America fights this war it gets worse" -for al Qaeda. When your enemy is willing to fight a war for decades what's hopeless is the mentality of people who insist the war must be over in 4 years or less. Obama or Clinton will bring only a temporary reprieve from the Islamist war on the West.
If America is unwilling, with the help of Iraqis, to fight the small war in Iraq against al Qaeda, it will fight a much bigger war later on, and with less help.

"Why was Obama against war with Iraq when over 80% of the country was for it at the time? "
Because Obama didn't care that Saddam would have turned his attention to developing nuclear weapons the moment sanctions ended - as the book Saddam's Bomb, by McGrory and Bhattia makes clear.

Iraq: A Hopeless Cause
It has been far to long and I am sick and tired of our country fighting a war we don't need. With all the problems in our country, why are we concerning ourselves more with others. It has been 4 1/2 years too long and we need to take action NOW!!!! The Bush Administration needs to take a closer look at their Bible, "remove the wooden beam from your eye first; then you will see clearly to remove the splinter from your brother's eye." (Matthew 7:5) While America has been paying attention to every other country, the U.S. has been experiencing economic problems, unemployment, a stalled housing market, and a growing deficit. Every day we fight this war all of those problems listed worsen, and as they worsen our country fails it's citizens more and more. If we don't end this war now it will never end. The world is moving to fast for us to waste time on meaningless conflicts.

ooooo Can you imagine that Clinton vengefulness if she gets to the big house? She'll spend her first year digging through Teddy the K's garbage trying to destroy the whole Kennedy family. And presumably the next three giving cheese to under-educated, unambitious white women.
