Nothing like ending the week on an upbeat note.
(CBS) A German resident held by the U.S. for almost five years tells 60 Minutes correspondent Scott Pelley that Americans tortured him in many ways - including hanging him from the ceiling for five days early in his captivity when he was in Kandahar, Afghanistan.
Even after determining he was not a terrorist, Murat Kurnaz says the torture continued. Kurnaz tells his story for the first time on American television this Sunday, March 30, at 7 p.m. ET/PT.
Damn ... they must have gone a little too light on this dirtbag, considering he didn't give up the goods and is now playing the propaganda game. Oh well, maybe next time!

And then they nailed me to the roof and crows pecked out my eyes!
.....
I got better.

They should have asked the Vietnamese what they did to make that old man crack.

You stay classy, chris.

"-- Damn ... they must have gone a little too light on this dirtbag, considering he didn't give up the goods and is now playing the propaganda game. --"
Wingnut smears torture survivor as serial liar and Islamic Propogandist.
"-- They should have asked the Vietnamese what they did to make that old man crack. --"
Liberal makes a wisecrack about Senator and Presidential contender who - having been tortured himself - still voted to approve "enhanced interrogation techniques" such as water boarding and electric shock treatment.
I wonder. If this were Vietnam, what sort of baseless allegations would Dan be flinging at Senator McCain? I mean, getting thrown in a bamboo prison and stabbed repeatedly for soldiers' amusement? Who does that? It's ridiculous. I would question the veracity of any such claims. And to go on TV and talk about it? Clearly someone is just playing propaganda puppet for his own party's interests.

No, I believe it was Jane Fonda and Noam Chomsky that called the Vietnam troops who reported torture "liars" and "propaganda tools".
You know, your side.

You are out of your mind.
Did it ever occur to you that he could possibly be innocent or have no goods to give up?
I guess since he's a Muslim and everyone knows all Muslims are terrorists he deserved to be tortured.
Posted by: jharp | Friday, March 28, 2008 at 02:18 PM
he deserved to be tortured
No one deserves to be tortured for being a Muslim, or a member of any religion for that matter. Now, for going on 60 Minutes? I'd suggest the death penalty. heh!

60 Minutes huh? Time for us wingnuts to get to work. First check for forged documents. See if he "mis-spoke". If the story is not true, it will be up to us to find out.

Strange what a few years difference makes, eh? Today the Bill Kristols and Rush Limbaughs get to fill that role.
Just to be clear, are you siding with the modern Jane Fonda crowd or 60 Minutes? I wasn't sure if you believe torture victims now or you've converted to knee-jerk denialist.

But what do his ears look like, Dan?

"But what do his ears look like, Dan?"
There are those more-moral-than-you guys again. I notice they only get on their high horses when someone cracks off on one of their favs. But when chris/Boob says rotten and bigoted things about McCain Harpo the Great and Moe keep their yaps shut tight. A t--d for them.

In Moe's defense, he did suggest once (somewhat recently) to Bob that he keep quiet if Bob couldn't say something constructive to that particular thread.

Yeah LLama? Care to point out how many Americans were tortured to death or allowed to die because of anything Kristol or Limbo said or did?

"In Moe's defense, he did suggest once (somewhat recently) to Bob that he keep quiet if Bob couldn't say something constructive..."
Well, seek, I missed that one. Sometimes it's hard to see the pearl under all that swill. My sincere and heartfelt apologies, Moe. As I said, I didn't see that comment. Well now I might have seen it, but if I did it was probably out of context. Oh, I saw it OK? But I could no more admit I saw it than I could admit I don't like white people. If I didn't know you were going to retire from commenting, I would have repudiated your remarks. Oh, and thanks for your apologies to me over these many months. I appreciate them, don't forget that. Sometimes, rare though they may be, some of us say right or wrong things for which we may be sorry or even proud.
How's that, seek, opaque enough? I'm studying to be a pol.

Willie,
"Care to point out how many Americans were tortured to death or allowed to die because of anything Kristol or Limbo said or did?"
That is a good question as I have often thought of just what is our enemies take on the drug addicted one.
As you're aware he is broadcast in the green zone and I'm sure our enemies are aware of the content of his propaganda.
How do suppose they take the mocking of those held at Gitmo? The Abu Ghraib prisoner abuse being called fraternity pranks. Collective punishment of Muslims?
We'll never know but I think El Limp dick is hurting our cause. And probably causing more suffering.

Wow, Harpo, I wasn't aware you were intimate with Rush. But as to your concern about the sensibilities that may be bruised by Rush, I can't believe you ignore the murderous acts of the terrorists and have no concern for their victims. You are one cold-hearted individual. May you never see a son or daughter blown to pieces by vicious, brutal, fanatical savages, especially those who are so sensitive about our hating their rotten guts.
Oh and you write: "As you're aware he is broadcast in the green zone and I'm sure our enemies are aware of the content of his propaganda."
Now if I understand you, Limbaugh is a propagandist and Al Franken is a speaker of truth. Is that about right, Harpo? Limbaugh is causing terrorists to attack the Green Zone and Al Franken is a peacemaker. That's your thought?
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 05:15 PM
Fred,
You are an interesting character.
What in the world does Al Franken have to do with my post?
"I can't believe you ignore the murderous acts of the terrorists and have no concern for their victims."
You are delusional. How would you know either one of these preposterous claims you make?
You are correct that Rush is a propagandist.
Posted by: jharp | Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 05:47 PM
I had no problem understanding Fred's post Harpie, but then my mind is a bit more open than some. He's saying that when folks like yourself bring up "hate radio", blah,blah,samo-samo it's always Limbo, never Air(leak) amerika. Pretty simple really.
Now, what you said about Limbo being broadcast to the troops and it's effect on the sensitive, head chopping muzzies. Very provocative, you may have a point old bean. One I've never considered. Brava!
Posted by: WAHOO WILLIE | Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 07:20 PM
Hey Willie,
You were the one who brought up Limbo and Kristol and that was the subject being addressed.
I think both you and Fred extrapolated that into all talk radio.
The reason I singled out ElDrugbo was solely because of him being broadcast to the troops.

strange how limbaugh gets bashed for a drug problem - a thoroughly liberal affliction - while alec baldwin, good liberal that he is, has *his* wife-beating and child-abuse issues swept down the memory hole. was it just that kim and "the little pig" *deserved* their beatings and abuse?
it's....it's....it's *almost* as if liberals have selective memories!
