From an LA Times blog: Silda Spitzer struck me as so incredibly sad in what seems to have become the definitive image of the brief Spitzer presser. McGreevey, Vitter, Craig ... Clinton - the list goes on and on. I imagine there's a lot to say on the dynamics going on here that almost make me embarrassed to be a man, what with all these power seeking types unable to keep it in their pants. But it's only visibility that prevents us from focusing on the vast majority who play by the rules.
Just once I'd like to see the embarrassed wife in chief step up to the podium, grab the philandering pol by the short hairs and tell him what she most likely has in store for him when they get home. That, more than any formal action or rebuke by the general public, might actually give someone a bit of well-deserved satisfaction in these disappointing affairs.
Why do so many women suck it up and stand grimly by, like a prop for the photo op, as the hubby spills his guilty guts for the cameras? Today Silda Spitzer looked like she might have had a gun at her back -- or she might have had one in Eliot's back -- but there she was nonetheless, ``at his side,`` as they say.
I'll leave it to seeker to go off on turning our backs to God but what do we expect? Seriously, in a country that seems to have lost any sense of right and wrong, morality who cares about this woman's "feelings" being hurt? Humiliated children? When everyone should be outraged the first posts are the same old "yeah, well your rich white guy did it too.....and with boys" WTF is the matter with us? Personally I dont care much what consenting adults do in the privacy of their own 'space' but for whatever reason prostitution is illegal and our pols ought at least obey the laws they force on us. Then there's the fact that these guys all made promises, marriage vows, to other people and proceded to drag them through sh**. Where does it stop, what are we willing to take from these slimeballs who apparently have no morals, cant be trusted. Yeah, mention teaching simple concepts of right/wrong to our kids, or upholding some sense of decency in our elected people and here they come "keep your religion out of schools" (note I said right/wrong & nada about religion) MY FAVORITE "whose to say what's right and wrong?" "It's their private life" You all can add more if you want.

Nah, you pretty much said it all, Willie. A sign of the times, I suppose, bad times when our leaders fail to obey the very laws they pass. Illegal immigration is very much the same thing. There are laws against employing illegal aliens, etc., yet almost every politician has them either doing the yard or keeping the baby and the house. It's as if the laws are only made to apply to certain folks.

Most of these guys are sociopaths and compartmentalize their behavior. Also like Bill Clinton said he did it because he could.
Why dont the women leave the men or speak out. Because they stand by their man because they know they have a family and know where the bread and butter they eat comes from. Money. That is why they stand by their man.
This guy was either trying to get caught or enjoying the thrill of living on the edge. There may be some connection also with the type of person that goes into politics. Not all of them but the megalomaniacs. Being the big boss leads these corrupt guys to act like the juvenile delinquents they really are. Bill Clinton is the best example of that.

I'd say Wahoo Willie about summed this up succinctly w/o my having to sermonize on it.
But it is a sad testimony to where we are so jaded that we take this in stride without so much of a thought for what God would have us do... such as:
