Hookers: More Trustworthy Than The New York Times?
Just one of those thoughts that occurs to you - this one while reading an ABC item - that's their image at right, not mine. Pretty amazing that an allegedly 20 year-old call girl, among others, would service the State's Attorney General and ultimately Governor and we wouldn't hear about it for years. But we can't keep secret prisons or certain interrogation techniques out of the New York Times. Maybe we should sign some of these girls up for DHS, or the CIA?
A 22-year-old escort found on another call-girl Web site told ABC News in a phone interview that Gov. Eliot Spitzer had been one of her customers two years ago when he was New York attorney general and that he was a nice guy who tipped well.
Spitzer Exposed"He didn't do anything that wasn't clean," she said, adding that she knew who he was because he had made calls from the attorney general's office in Brooklyn, N.Y.

"--- And by the way, I assume whoring Sen. Vitter and trolling Sen. Craig will be tendering their resignations shortly, before the GOP cries out for their impeachment, as well. ---"
Not really... considering that the NYS Assembly, where articles of impeachment must begin, is a bulletproof Democratic majority house.
The threat of impeachment charges was raised by Assembly Minority Leader James Tedisco, (R, C, I-Schenectady-Saratoga) of the 110th Assembly District. He's a "republican" because them, and the Democrats are the only two outfits by which you can get elected to any office in this country for the most part; NY State uses electoral fusion, and that is why he can also run for and represent the Conservative Party of NY (the "C") and the NY Independence Party (a centrist party that occasionally skews right - the "I").
And yes, it is absolutely all about the Game™ of Politics: the minority (R)s have little to lose by DX'ing The Spitz and bringing in Patterson. It might not have worked as well as hoped for (I was hoping for a knock-down, drag-out fight resulting in The Spitz being lead from the Governor's Mansion in leg irons off to pound boulders into gravel, and likely get pounded himself, not to mention the longer range goal of seating a Repub governor in the next election cycle).
Vitter still has his job because if he quits, he immediately gets swapped out for a Dem.... not a good thing to empty yet another seat where it isn't needful in a Dem majority congress.
Indeed, Life is Not Fair™ here on earth, but rest assured that God will surely judge the Spitz and Vitter and Craig and Foley all the same.

Well, sure. If you're an authoritarian Republican, you are all about poking into and regulating people's bedrooms and private lives -- but only with respect to other people and not yourself or your fellow travelers.
But running secret prisons, going medieval on "detainees," destroying public documents, secretly misappropriating public funds to banned projects, renditioning untried suspects to foreign barbarians, giving away billions in federal dollars to private business pals without measurable oversight, cooking classified intelligence and making some of it up? According to this blog, those are the kinds of actions by our government that no American needs to know about. Because, hey, it might make the citizenry feel ashamed, and give them pause to wonder what the hell's wrong with this country.
Spitzer's gone for good reason, but not because scrutiny of his sex life has anything to do with democracy or responsible government.
And by the way, I assume whoring Sen. Vitter and trolling Sen. Craig will be tendering their resignations shortly, before the GOP cries out for their impeachment, as well.

Paul:
I have heard the drone of the Left about authoritarianism, the Constitution being shredded, and civil liberties being curtailed for years now. If all of that is true, praytell, how you can comment on here without a knock coming on your door soon in the middle of the night?
You would not know a jackboot stomping on a human face for eternity if it were your own. If you want to know what all these look like, take a trip to Venezuela or Cuba and criticize the "revolution" publicly.
As for HeeHaw, is that the best you can do? Geesh. I can see your great love of the common folk in your disdain for their entertainment. Who do you think actually lives in this country outside your cronies at Starbucks?

"It saddens me when I hear of anybody who has been suckered in by the lies of a failed ideology."
Good, but you must be very saddened by the failed ideology of the Democrats and their allies on the Left. As a matter of fact, you must be one of the saddest guys alive when you look at the billions of your fellow human beings who have been suckered in by socialism, communism, nazism, fascism and Islamism, i.e. the totalitarism of the Left. Sad Sack would be a better nick for you, Robert.

Willie, in all seriousness, you didn't have to goad him. He came in here with his stinger out, and did his best to bury it somewhere. The infantile mind, the total lack of character, and the bellicoseness of these nutroot types never ceases to amaze me. He speaks of you hating your fellow Americans, yet his comments prove him to be the hater. And you not even a Republican. The guy is a hack.

Temp: To be fair I have to confess that I goaded poor paulie into about half of his nonsense. I dont mean to be bad but I just can't seem to resist pulling the monkey's chain. Let a leftie think you disagree and the name calling ensues rapidly. They will call you everything BUT a child of God.....Oooops being a child of God IS an insult to the tolerant left. It got easier rattling paulie's cage and I kept at it. When he used stoopud, I knew I had a kid. He writes well but this cat isn't a day over 25, maybe not out of HS really. I like to exhibit their tolerance and love for their fellow human being by poking them with a stick. They are such sad, sad hate filled people. Have you noticed that they never, ever post a "hey how y'all are?" post. It's always, always some hate filled diatribe directed at people they dont even know. Damn, they dont even bother thinking about posts they've read before they attack someone. I thought we had LLama at teh "I hate your politics but how's Trix?" point once but she seems to have fallen off the wagon.....and her guy is kicking Hilda's ass!! Seems like she could have one sunny day but it isn't in their nature. Sad, very sad.

Paul, if you have to watch sites like this to gauge the "high tide mark" of authoritarianism, you're in serious trouble. And you must be totally deranged to accuse someone of hate, when your posts are some of the most hateful I've ever seen. You should check yourself into a hospital in search of professional mental help. You need it. And take chris with you. There is probably a discount for twin baboons, and you two would make quite a study.
Posted by: templar knight | Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at 06:25 PM
Thanks for the tip, Chris. Of course, I've been discussing these points with authoritarians now for some years, so I know enough not to try to reason with them. Plus, the slender few who continue to support all-things-GOP and all-things-Bush represent the lowest among us, and are by definition unable to comprehend a point that wasn't hammered into their skulls at an early age. Ironically, 10,000 years ago, these types wouldn't have been able to survive, but now, thanks to the social structure they generally decry, they are kept around.
The main reason I check in with sites like these is to see exactly where these guys stand regarding their ultimate goal of dismantling the republic and setting up a GOP-dominated empire. Not that they have the numbers or support to effect such a change democratically. But based on the reason-free, violence-prone nature of these people, I know they'll have no hesitation in taking up arms against their fellow Americans, whom they hold in such contempt and loathing.
Basically, I watch sites like these to gauge the "high tide mark" of authoritarianism in this country. Sometime before we have troops goosestepping down my main street, my family and I will have left. I check periodically to see how close that time is approaching.

Dear Paul,
It's futile to reason with this backward collection of rednecks, religious fanatics and general simpletons. It's far better to simply laugh at them, much like 74% of America does at their leader. Encourage them to expound on their grand, angry theories but, most importantly, enjoy these dinosaurs - who knows how much longer they will be around.
Sincerely,

Yeah, I had fun with unca paul you can alsways tell you're talking to an adult when they begin calling you stoopud. I especially enjoyed being called a traitor. That's probably the real reason Lama posted and booked, so as to avoid your foolishness. You're cute though, pretending to give a crap about freedom, legality, whatever but like most of your kind you'll be all over taking someone elses freedoms away when the time comes. HYPOCRIT!!!!
Posted by: WAHOO WILLIE | Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at 03:45 PM
BTW, in your futile attempts to portray Democrats as the real racist authors of the Southern Strategy, you provided a link that contained this quote:
In a 1970 New York Times interview, Nixon strategist Kevin Phillips was blunt in describing the strategy he perfected,
"From now on, the Republicans are never going to get more than 10 to 20 percent of the Negro vote and they don't need any more than that... but Republicans would be shortsighted if they weakened enforcement of the Voting Rights Act. The more Negroes who register as Democrats in the South, the sooner the Negrophobe whites will quit the Democrats and become Republicans. That's where the votes are. Without that prodding from the blacks, the whites will backslide into their old comfortable arrangement with the local Democrats."
What this says is "let's promote blacks voting for Democrats, so all the racists will vote Republican." And, of course, that still works to this day. But no, I'm sure liberal college professors are all to blame.
Posted by: Paul | Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at 03:41 PM
"Martin Luther King was a Republican."
Lala Dr King was not a registered repugnican, sorry. The black gop clung onto a few of his speeches where he spoke a lot like a republican but it isnt true. He was quite conservative in a lot of his views, no where near as liberal as some would have us believe. He was more like Bill Cosby than Jesse Jackson. I am not alone in my opinion that he would not be happy do see what he gave his life fighting for.
Posted by: WAHOO WILLIE | Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at 03:38 PM
Thanks for the honesty, Willie. It's rare that an authoritarian will wear his colors with such pride. Since most Americans would not support something so reprehensible, it is of vital importance that those who support a move towards authoritarianism say so, and directly, rather than hide behind terms like "freedom is on the march".
And IslamoLlama, the term "Southern Strategy" was popularized by Richard Nixon strategist Kevin Phillips during the 72 campaign. Relative to you guys, Nixon was a bleeding-heart liberal, but relative to the remaining 70% of Americans, he can hardly be called a "liberal college professor". (Ironic, your thing about revisionist history, as you engage in it yourself, eh?)
Actually, IslamoLlama, I can't decide if your post is sarcastic. After exchanging ideas with Dumb-As-Rocks Willie, I think satire is officially dead on this site.

Silly Paul. The Southern Strategy is just revisionist history pushed by liberal college professors who don't want to admit that they're all double-super-secret Nazi racists. MLK was a Republican. Vietnam was all Johnson's fault. Racism in America exists only in the minds of class-warfar waging Commi-islamic sympathizers. And George Bush has done more for minorities in America than any President since Lincoln by teaching them to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps.
All of history is a lie, expect for those bits verified by Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh. We know this because Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh told us so. Lalala. Heil GOP! /facedesk.

"the enemies of freedom,"
I guess it took you a while to find out you were quoting Lincoln. I was around when the dixiecrats switched parties, were you? Look panzy, I AM an enemy of your freedom or what freedom you THINK you have. See, I can go anywhere I want in the world so I truly dont care what happens to you tender flowers. True I would love to see you enslaved but safe and secure from yourself, working hard for the glory of the state. You have no right to your so called freedom, you're too weak to defend it and it should be stripped from you like 75% of your pitiful income.

Sorry, Willie, if your fantasy is an authoritarian dictatorship, and you want them to punish dissent with death, and assuming you vote at all, then you're a republican. No 2 ways about it.
Also, if you think the Republican party of Lincoln bears any resemblance to the Republican party of today, then you're hopelessly stupid not to mention ignorant of the transformation of the GOP when the Dixicrats joined in the 60s as a result of the Southern Strategy.
Not that I expect you to agree with any of this. After all, stupid is as stupid does. Thanks for providing this opportunity to check in on the progress of the enemies of freedom. Now, feel free to get back to your episode of Hee Haw.

What a crock!! especially quoting a president who sed the bill of rights for toilet paper. 'We da peeples' aren't smart enough to govern ourselves and we certainly don't deserve a 'free society'. So please, please hasten an authoritarian government. I pray that it is one that punishes dissent by death!

Don't worry, Willie. Your dream will come true. You and every other traitor like you have sold our country down the river, voting for republicans who are completely hostile to the idea of government of, by and for the people. However, Rome wasn't built in a day, so you're going to have to wait for a little while. But thanks to your man Bush and the staggering wave of corruption and malevolence of which he is the figurehead, you won't have to wait nearly as long as you would have otherwise. Just think of it like a commercial break before Hee Haw comes back on. Sucks having to wait, but in the end it's sooooo worth it.

The NYT did not find it out until recently. The story was broken first by them, not by any "conservative" media outlet.
But of course the real disappointment to me was the failure of the National enquirer to break the story first.

Um.... isn't Spitzer's story about sex between consentual adults and the stories about secret prisons and torture about illegal, immoral barbaric violations of national and international codes? Just saying, maybe that's why more journalistic investigations go into the administration's international criminal behavior than a governor's dalliance with a hooker.

The difference, of course, is that the higher ups at the CIA/DHS/FBI routinely piss off the people who actually get the work done. When those at the lower levels get pushed to the breaking point, they tend to leak inconvenient documents to the press.
Johns on the other hand, have a strong incentive to be courteous, grateful, and prompt with payment. They have good reason to fear what information might get out if they piss off the working girls.
