Creepy. Must be some of Wright's inspirational tapes.

How empty and hollow will be the Bush-haters lives come 2009; walking zombies.

Perhaps you misunderstood my earlier note.

I think McCain is better than Hillary or Obama by far. Though I bitterly swore that I'd do otherwise, I see no choice but to support him in the general election; a tiny amount of liberty is better than a guarantee of no liberty whatsoever.

As for the Dem majority congress, that whisper makes a difference, however small. I am of course, hoping that we see many more men of Ron Paul's calibre (I do not necessarily agree entirely with the all the memes that tend to be associated with him, but rather, his honesty and his desire to see the country set to rights) in the next few election cycles.

I believe that this sort of men will more likely arise from the GOP than it will from the Democratic Party, as the DP is as laden down with its identity politics and back-scratching deals as it ever was in the days of the pre-1996 DemCong Supermajority™. And I do not look forward to single party rule from the DP either; which is why I'll pull the lever for the latest neocon wunderkind to come down the pike than I will some thinly-dressed socialists who will tell me how to get up in the morning and how to go to bed at night, and tax me for the favour of holding my hand every moment in between.

Even if you get your wish of a socialist nanny state, I can only hope that the banishment to political ignominy will shake the moderate wing of the GOP and its neocon allies out of their torpor, and return to Republicanism of Goldwater and Calvin Coolidge... but I remain doubtful of that: the day that the nation turns wholesale to socialism and the elitist tyranny that lurks closely behind the closed doors of Marx and Engels is the same day that the nation becomes terminally ill, to be cured only by the watering of the roots of the Tree of Liberty with much blood from tyrants and patriots alike.

Don't get your socialist hopes to far up yet; this game is far from being lost.

And as for G.W. Bush hosing up things, I'll agree with you - it is bad. But our solutions for it will probably differ widely.

"BTW, keep up with the news, Harpy. Bush is up to 32%"

I know it has varied some lately but hard to believe 3 out of 10 approve. Sad day for all Americans. Tickles me that you post it as though you are proud. The GOP has sunk pretty low.
---"

I'm not proud of it at all, just attempting to correct an error that a handful of our most rabidly liberal posters here like to repeat in a mindlessly parrot-like fashion. (Ah, may the spirit of Jimmy Buffet forgive me. Parrots are in fact, very intelligent creatures, and I should not insult their intelligence so... but you get the idea for illustration's sake).

As this applies in G.W. Bush's case, I am neither "proud" of his low approval ratings, nor am I surprised. That it has recovered at all since its 28% low is a testimony to the idea that he might actually be learning something.

As for the Congress, I'll admit that the the thin majority the DP has does not offer it the leeway that Madam Speaker Pelosi would have liked in its first 100 hours. But, if the DP were so much the party of Good Thinking™ and Sound Reason™ that it would have us believe it to be, surely it could convince even the most recalcitrant reactionaries (those guys with the near-100% ACU ratings) to see things their way, no?

Harpo is a heart-felt Leftist wack head of the classical type. Just as an example, above I refuted three points that he had made in two Harpoesque short sentences. Harpo responded with anger, but did not argue against even one of the three refutations. Today or tomorrow Harpo will be back here repeating the three false points as if they were facts. It seems to be a waste of time communicating with Harpo. Someday, after further serious butt whompings by our experts here, Harpo will just disappear, soon to return, however, under a new moniker. Remember yyy, nowingker, etc?

But in my opinion the funniest item in this thread is LlammaMoe telling Dan what kinds of posts to mount on Dan's blog.

"Woo! All Obama, all the time!
What is this? The tenth consecutive Obama post? You might want to change the name of this site to Obama World View."

And I have never, ever read a funnier comment than this one by Moe. In it he confuses a candidate with...Captain Marvel:

"So please, keep pumping out that 24/7 Obama coverage. Give him all the air time in the world. He'll judo every jab, turn every punch, and leave people with a newfound respect for his honesty, integrity, and political savy."

Now THAT is comedy.

Fred, LlamaMoe plays too many video games. Typical teen-age Lefty.

"Can't tell you how thankful I am there are only 20 % of you out there."

really jharpo, us democrats are only 20%?
