William F. Buckley Jr. (1925-2008)
The Corner has the announcement of Buckley's passing. No doubt the Left will be celebrating on some blogs.
He died while at work; if he had been given a choice on how to depart this world, I suspect that would have been exactly it. At home, still devoted to the war of ideas.

There is no better metaphor for the republican party.

I agree entirely, Chris. Mr. Buckley and the late Reverend Falwell were perfect and immaculate representatives of modern conservatism.

Let us be thankful that the tradition of family values is being carried on by David Vitter and Larry Craig. Especially with Hussein Obama on the horizon.

Apparently those witty pundits of the left who flick their literary boogers here on RVW are in quite the celebratory mood as well.
Although I tend to agree that the GOP and its supporters seem to be trending away from the core conservatism that Buckley wrote of earlier in his career.

Falwell was an icon was torn down about the time the Berlin wall was.
Posted by: Yoda | Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at 02:13 PM
Yes, the Berlin Wall. Bonzo's senile sidekick tore down that wall himself.

Who is Bonzo? The only Bonzo I know claimed to be chris' twin brother. Or was that Bozo? Doesn't matter, either one works.

tk, I just wonder if chrissy has any respect for anything or anyone. I'd ask but all she has to say is BDSBDSBDSBDS. Sad, hatefilled, bitter individual.

'Who is Bonzo?'
A little intellectual curiosity wouldn't hurt, especially since you don't seem to work or do much. Setting a good example for your kids might be a good thing too.

Yeah tk fifty year old films are real important to know about. Almost as important as who won on "Idol". You should take this advice from someone who wont even acknowledge having kids...or a "significant" walrus. You've told about your kids and they seem FAR too successful to me. Let's get them playing more video games and watching more television before it's too late!!

chris, I've never clicked on one of your links, and I don't plan to start now. I'm well aware of Bonzo being a chimp, hence my statement. You're not very quick on the uptake, chris, some might even call you dumb. I'd agree with that assessment.
And I did work today, chrissy. I just took off early. Bosses' perogative.
Posted by: templar knight | Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at 04:48 PM
Willie, I've never seen one of the Bonzo films, but I knew what the dope was talking about. I was just making a funny, and old chris just doesn't appreciate humor. Typical leftist idiot in that regard.

Such an angry, lazy man. Perhaps if you did something productive all day you'd feel better about yourself. It's not too late to be a positive example for your kids.

"Perhaps if you did something productive all day you'd feel better about yourself."
LOLOLOLOL, my god pot, are you calling the kettle black again? Sheesh take your own advice as you're the own with no visible means of support. Then again you do seem to be gone for some time in the evening. Night shift maybe?
Posted by: WAHOO WILLIE | Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at 05:03 PM
Angry and lazy. You're full of it, chris. Here I am having fun, and you have the audacity to call me angry. Ha, I'm laughing...laughing! Not angry at all.
Lazy? You're fuller of it. I've worked here for almost 20 years, and you call me lazy. Get back with me when you have 20 years on your job, chrissy poo.

I loved Buckley's vocabulary. Oxymoron, my favorite.

"Then again you do seem to be gone for some time in the evening."
Some of us have lives, gramps. Thanks for taking an interest, though.

"Oxymoron, my favorite."
Bill Buckley must have known chris. What a small world we live in.

"Some of us have lives."
Why yes we do! That's why the question of why you're posting here all hours of the day and night except for your shift at Denny's. Your life seems pretty shallow.

Gramps is right though I fear. Camped all weekend regardless of wind and rain. Wasn't that cold out, forties mostly, now I'm sick with a head cold. GUess I am getting old. Thank goodness I've got working people willing to pay for health care for me.

for all i disagree with him, and all his racism, he at least was an honest, genuine debater.

Buckley's observations about Bush are not necessarily ungrounded.
In more than a few ways, Bush was not fully a conservative. He grew the government beyond the scale of any Republican in my living history, got us extra-constitutionally entangled in a couple of foreign wars, and has some linkage (a very, very minor part) to the economy going belly up.
FWIW though, his motives and his approach toward containing Islamic terrorism (and at the very least, keeping out of America) have largely worked.

Sadly, Stamford has lost a luminary and I've lost a neighbor. I rarely agreed with him on politics, but at least he pegged the Decider as a stammering disgrace.

" Sadly, Stamford has lost a luminary and I've lost a neighbor."
Damn chrissy, even Boobindabasement can say something decent about the dead. More proof I guess that most people possess enough soul to rise above pettiness for a moment. Most people, not all.

I wasn't aware they allowed section 8 housing in Stamford. Or are you just a gardner?
