I don't believe it. Just on Fox, can't wait for that video - McCain in Texas - "I will run a dispirited campaign. I am a proud conservative, liberal Republican"???
Let's hope his elevator doesn't completely stop running to the top floor before November.
Geez.

After his dismal california debate and his readings of simple victory statements off of a teleprompter ,I think this is a red flag on his sharpness.
The teleprompter thing really bothers me for some reason- it's such a simple thing to say a few remarks to supporters and he can't do it?

I like John because he is older than me and I am 67 years old. This is my last chance to vote for someone older than myself. I also like John McCain since I read his book FAITH OF OUR FATHERS. Give it a read if you haven't and you will find out something about him and his father and his grandfather. He is the most qualified of the 3 left standing to be President. I like his sense of humor also. Johnny Mac is my man. I cant wait to run to the polls in November to vote for him against the inexperienced Obama or the shrill Hillary.

Johnny Mac is not exactly inspiring me to vote for him out of enthusiasm with stuff like this...

I agree about the debate, jjshaka, although I think McCain's mental dullness was even more obvious at the earlier one in Boca: his podium that night was practically plastered with red flags signaling that his cognitive skillset has undergone some really noticeable deterioration over the past few years (& let's face it, even at his peak, this man never was known for his abundant intellectual gifts.)
Also like you, I'm tremendously bothered that he can't seem to say 'I'm glad to be in Cleveland, my friends' without the assistance of a nearby teleprompter - it portends massively embarassing gaffes ahead, I'm afraid.
The good news is that Mac's likely opponent in the fall is equally adrift without an electronic cheat-sheet supplied by his handlers, and Obama's head was evidently as airily a vacuous expanse at 29 as it seems to be today. Fading fast though he clearly is at this point in his life, McCain may still be able to eke out a bit of a cerebral edge over Barack.
But the whole issue is frankly moot for me at this point: I'll walk over broken glass if I have to in order to finally vote for Mitt this Tuesday so I can at least maintain the option of putting a "Don't blame me, I voted for the smart, sane one" bumpersticker on my car later when all hell inevitably breaks loose.
((((sigh))))

Hopefully McCain has mellowed and lost some of his bad temper. And gained a level head and a nice sense of humor. I think he is best qualified to be President. So I will be happy to vote for him and say so.
