Mr. Electable Gets Trounced In Kansas
Yes, McCain is just so absolutely unstoppable. What a freaking joke. Some idiot is on Fox with Hannity saying, this is a protest vote, they just want consessions from McCain and then they'll vote for him.
The neo-cons with the man crush on McCain and the liberal media have set the Republicans up for a disaster in the Fall. Just wait until December. Heads will roll. Damn, I am so sick of the so-called enlightened pundits inside the Beltway.
With 100 percent of precincts reporting, Huckabee had 60 percent of the vote, compared with 24 percent for McCain and 11 percent for Texas Rep. Ron Paul.
Perry in Texas is asking Huckabee to withdraw as the establishment continues to take control. It's a shame the stakes are so high, but it's going to be almost funny watching this group of losers be humiliated in the Fall. McCain can't even hold his own against Huckabee in several states - and he's the most electable?? Don't make me laugh. Go Huck!!
Or is it now, McCain/Huckabee? LMAO Oh, that pair of primary lovebirds will be fun to watch. Huckabee might even be a stronger stand-alone candidate than St. John.

Shocker - Kansas is full of Luddites. Better stop the presses for that one!!

Oh, please no... I hate McCain but I loathe and despise the Huckster even more. I might be able to vote for McCain, if I brought an airsick bag into the booth with me, but I really will vote Dem before I vote for that disingenuous SOB Pastor Holiday Inn Express. I don't just want him to lose, I want him to be *crushed* and rejected so soundly he'll never leave Arkansas again. And that goes for any ticket with the Huckster, even if he is the VP.

For someone "pursuing holiness", you seem rather unholy. Very much like the guy you're criticizing. Just saying.

If Paul's getting out, will his constituency go to Huckabee or what? There is no way they'll go to McCain, but how many of them will stay involved... they tend to be powerful in caucuses, not so much in primaries.
Posted by: Emily | Saturday, February 09, 2008 at 10:46 PM
McCain loses in Kansas and that proves he can't win the election? Well then what about all the states both Obama and Clinton are losing. I guess that proves neither of them can lose either, so we'll have no president?
Voters are notoriously contrary. They don't like being told 'the issue is settled, now validate it'. Besides that, its a friggin' CAUCUS. Caucuses are the very worst indicators of someone's actual support in a state because they require an investment of hours. Only people who can get off work, get someone to watch the kids, are hardcore political junkies are going to be there. They are far from a majority. And they are not representative.
Continuing the stretch for any possible reason to continue to fellate Romney. Sheesh, even Romney is over it, why these continued naval gazers?
Are you actually claiming that ROMNEY might have won? If not, then what's your point? Huckabee lost a crapload of states, to McCain, by your logic, he can't win either.
By god, no one is going to win this election! They are all too flawed!

doc
I can't tell you who is going to win but I can tell you that the guy who is 25 years past his prime and who graduated 5th from the bottom of his class at The Naval Academy isn't going to win.
Sorry. I think it's suicide to elect a Dem in a time of war but a nation which rejects the most accomplished and qualified person who has ever sought the office and confuses pacificism with enlightenment seems hell bent on destruction.
You had better pray that The Scold gets the Dem nomination.

The caucus voter has on average a higher I.Q. than the primary voter due to the far greater demand on one's duty to citizenship ("The Bell Curve": I.Q. is highly correlated with good citizenship).
So, if Romney was the caucus candidate and McCain was the primary candidate, what I want to know is: Who was the candidate of the people who showed up at their precincts on the wrong day, LOL!
My husband's answer: Doesn't matter because they were Democrats. In Florida, it was mainly Palm Beach that had this problem!
Posted by: Emily | Saturday, February 09, 2008 at 11:29 PM
I don't care much for caucuses given that there is a lot of weird rules and horse-trading that goes on, as a priamry seems to be the quick and easy way to get things done.
But I won't argue with (Emily) on the process requiring much more time and thought to do. I'd probably be singing a different song if I lived in a caucus state - heck, I'd probably take the day off and _feed_ off of the process. :P

McCain has the nomination wrapped up. It's over. Done. The end. If anyone thinks Huckabee can somehow pull off an upset over McCain they are truly ignorant of reality.

And if it's my desire to see Huckabee "crushed and rejected" which seems unholy to you - I believe by his public disingenuousness - like that sneaky Jesus/Satan nonsense and push polling - and by his promotion of the "social justice" gospel, i.e. Christian socialism, which is *enforced and coercive* good deeds which can only glorify government rather than God, that he is doing more harm to the American Christian church than Fred Phelps. Because nobody takes Phelps seriously, but the Huckster has a LOT of followers.

McCain better hope he is running against Hillary because if it's The Messiah, all hell will break loose.
Goracle worship is one thing but now we're talking Messiah.
The last seven years of crazy from those who hate Bush are going to be playtime compared to what the believers will do if The Messiah is not Selected; he's has come down to save America from the evil McChimphaliburtonoilneoconMcNazi and his reptilian repugs.
I do hope there are some sane Liberal Democrats remaining in all this because they're got a Messiah complex to deal with which will turn their hatred of anything Republican into a mass pray for mercy that they didn't mean to be so vile and nasty to so many Americans these past seven years.
Republians may have a Liberal War Hawk to deal with, but the Democrats have The Messiah.

Attention rednecks - Your Fearless Leader has declared 91 year old John McCain to be a true conservative!

This must be true. Your leader would NEVER lie to you. Now get out and support the little old man!

I'll grant you that its unpredictable what will happen if Obama gets the nomination. But I've been saying it all year, even after Iowa and before her NH comeback, the Clintons aren't going to go down easy and I still think she'll pull it out, no matter what she has to do. Obama is young, he'll run again. If she loses, the Clintons are finished as national politicians- they will be about as relevant as Gore or Kerry. And they both have WAAAAY too big egos to stand for that, they have absolutely no morals or scruples, they will hold back nothing to win this nomination.
I also see it far fetched that Obama would accept a VP from Hillary. Why would he? To be #3 behind Bill? To be smeared with all the malfeasance, scandals, mistakes, venality and distruction of the 3rd Clinton admin? Better to stand aside and let Hillary go down and run in '12 against Dan's hero, Mitten the Kitten.

People used to say Americans always end up getting the President they deserve.
And I believe Americans like to elect the best liar. Isn't that what it is all about?
And Americans like to elect a tough GUY. Not a smart guy or a pretty guy but a TOUGH guy. Americans don't like eggheads. I learned that when Eisenhower defeated Adlai Stevenson. And Bush defeated Gore. Whether he actually did or not he still got the job. People end up electing people like Reagan and 2 Bushes and smooth talking Bill Clinton who may be smart(or not)but is no egghead like Al Gore. McCain fits the bill for me. Tough guy who will get up first thing everything morning and like Bush and Cheney the first thought that will enter his old white man head will be "How can I kill some terrorists today?" What would be Hillary's first thought? What would be Obama's first thought? Universal Health Care?

"And Americans like to elect a tough GUY. Not a smart guy or a pretty guy but a TOUGH guy."
When you say 'Americans' I assume you mean 'rednecks'. Gotta love them rednecks.
Posted by: BobInStamford | Sunday, February 10, 2008 at 12:56 PM
By the way Bill Clinton is by far the best liar in recent memory. He and Hillary have a way of getting on both sides of every issue. Hard defeat. Their positions are like holding mercury in your hand. But Obama is on a roll. Many people young and old black and white have drunk the kool aid for Obama.
Posted by: joeb | Sunday, February 10, 2008 at 12:58 PM
Boob: Well most of America is rednecks isn't it? And I am not putting them down. The common man is good enough for me. It is the elitist that I can't stand. Watch out for any snob that uses the term trailer trash. I have met many more nice people in trailer parks than here in Georgetown, D.C.

Boob writes: "When you say 'Americans' I assume you mean 'rednecks'. Gotta love them rednecks." AND: "Shocker - Kansas is full of Luddites. Better stop the presses for that one!!"
It seems he is beginning to give us the boundaries of his geographic bigotry target as extending from the western border of Connecticut to the eastern border of California and from the southern border of Manhattan to the southern borders of Florida and Texas.
Big place, Boob. You are going to have to be one busy idiot.

I'm up in metrosexualville NYC but even I am smart enough to know where the term 'redneck' came from.
The term "Redneck" came about way back in the day when coal mine owners prevented the miners from unionizing by paying off sheriffs, deputies and hiring hit men to push back the miners whenever they made an appearance. So these brave miners decided to come together with whatever shotguns they had to stand up to the the mine owner's bullies. Lots of these Rednecks died because the bullies had machine guns to powerful against a simple shotgun, but they kept going anyway.
The miners wore red bandanas to be able to identify themselves to one another thus the term 'redneck'
It is said that ignorance is bliss however BobinStamford you should be ashamed of yourself for degrading those miners who had the guts to stand up against overbearing mobster bullies.
They are also the people who fought against prohibition.
I am proud of Rednecks and they way they have always been on the front line defending justice and liberty for the common person.
In this day and age it's easy for those spouting their 'social justice' rhetoric from the comfort of the sanctuary streets protected by police officers; they never had to actually fight for anything unlike those rednecks in years past who did.

"REDNECKS
"The origins of this term Redneck are Scottish and refer to supporters of the National Covenant and The Solemn League and Covenant, or "Covenanters", largely Lowland Presbyterians, many of whom would flee Scotland for Ulster (Northern Ireland) during persecutions by the British Crown. The Covenanters of 1638 and 1641 signed the documents that stated that Scotland desired the Presbyterian form of church government and would not accept the Church of England as its official state church."

"This army of workers called themselves "red necks", from the red traditionally associated with Labor Unions (and by extension, communism). When President Harding sent in federal troops to quell the mounting rebellion, the unions effectively lost the battle but won the war. For those interested in a largely undocumented piece of 20th Century American History (compare this, for example, to the amount of material available on the 1921 "Black Sox" scandal), this article is a fascinating read on the potential results of unchecked tyranny. via my friend Chad

I believe this one:
"A popular etymology says that the term derives from such individuals having a red neck caused by working outdoors in the sunlight over the course of their lifetime. The effect of decades of direct sunlight on the exposed skin of the back of the neck not only reddens fair skin, but renders it leathery and tough, and typically very wrinkled and spotted by late middle age. Similarly, some historians claim that the term redneck originated in 17th century Virginia, because indentured servants were sunburnt while tending plantation crops."

Wow. The patriots have a lot of free time on their hands today. They must be 'hankering' for their beloved nascar. Isn't that fascinating activity beginning again soon?
Anyway, thank you all for your dedication to redneck etymology and, of course, the troops. Surge on!!

Anyone who thinks Bill & Hill will gracefully allow Obama to win the Democrat nomination better get more familiar with the Clintons.
YouTube would be a good place to start. Obama won't make it to the convention alive if he's way out ahead (and no, that's not a threat from me, that's something one can expect from the Clintons).
I believe the Clintons will fix things with Howard Dean so that there will indeed be a backroom deal that will tell Obama he has to wait, it's Queen Hillary's turn first.
