Dick Armey led off with a great twenty minute speech. Unfortunately, it lasted over a half-hour. Then came a surprise guest to introduce, we thought, John McCain. Allen fired up CPAC and also mentioned his Co-chairmanship of Fred's effort. Between Allen and Fred, is it any wonder losing was on some people's minds by the time we got to ... Tom Coburn? Yes, the crowd stood for McCain, oh ... but not yet.
Coburn rambled and lost me, if not the crowd. And then there was John.
They had enough people brought in to cover up any booing. But it was there. To his credit, McCain brought up issues, including immigration. But for a man running for President, the hat in hand quality to some of his rhetoric stuck out. I imagine it was no win for him, some will damn him if he does, others if he doesn't. So, I'll give him a pass.
In the end, it was clear McCain retained the right to differ with the conservative base, which is understandable. But I'm not sure if anything changed because of today's charade. McCain did his part ... the other pols did theirs, emphasizing the need to support the party and any nominee.
When it was all over, I suspect some will, some won't. And therein lies the problem for McCain in an election year that is going to be next to impossible for the Republicans to win, no matter what.

Any chance that the comment about Mccain coming "hat-in-hand" is just "wishful thinking"?
Naah! Riehl knows a boot-licking, brown noser when he sees one-- usually in the mirror!

Pack it in, fellow 'Pubbies. The next four or eight years under either the Obamanation or Billary will not be kind.
I highly recommend getting on good terms with your local gunsmith, if you aren't already. :)
