Actually, given the candidates on both sides, it might be the preferable option. Though I suspect we'll be seeing it in the person of John McCain.

Not everyone dreads the thought of McCain being elected. I happen to agree with him on immigration. I also think he would be vastly superior on judges to a Democrat. Therefore, I wholeheartedly support him in the election.

Harvey: about time we put to bed the myth that far right "conservatives" are the base of the party. If they are, they can't even get their nominee past Super Tuesday, let alone elect a president. The good thing about McCain is that he doesn't need the Malkinite-Limbaugh-Coulter right to win. In fact, he's better off being disassociated with them. 2 independents and a Dem will vote for McCain for every disgruntled nativist righty who sits home. I think the party is well shed of them, just like it was well shed of the John Birchers in the '50's. Good riddance. I hope they DO sit home, that will negate any residual power at all when it comes to Supreme Court Justices, the immigration bill, etc. They didn't vote, they didn't support McCain, so he will have no reason to take their opinions into consideration.

Since I disagree with them on a lot of things, I applaud their temper tantrum and hope they sit out the next 5-6 elections. Who needs them? Obviously not McCain.

(2c). A reunion of two combat veterans who served in the same unit (or similar trial, such as LEOs from the same police department or precinct, or firefighters from the same ladder company, or other paramilitary organizations)

Category Two man-hugs as described in this section MUST be accompanied by a proper manly backslap as described in (1a), and at no time shall the hands of either participant extend beyond a ninety-degree angle of extension or below the beltline of the opposite participant. Grabbing the posterior region or sub-abdominal groinal area is definitely inappropriate, and is punishable by flogging and eternal humiliation as long as the offender shall live.

Indeed, these two items are about near the "whole of the law" regarding man-hugs.

I'd have to see the video feed for that Bush-McCain man-hug to see if it lasted more than the three seconds as well. McCain's elbow flexion seems to be greater than 90 degrees as well. Definitely looks inappropriate from where I be a-sittin'.

Of course, "W" isn't exactly innocent here either, with him holding hands with King Fahd (or whoever the current Saudi king happens to be today).
