As scary as that is... The alternatives are more frightening.

But Huck is the LEAST frightening of the four left standing

McCain is all we have.....Huckster would lose 45 states.....Miklo and to Dan we have little choice.

The Huckster was likely pumped by the Dhimmicrats (remember the "Huckaboom"?) without understanding the dynamics of the Republican base (most R's are not religious "evangelicals"), much less the presence of several RINOs and a Mormon, two Catholics, and one or two possibly (agnostic) non-practicing nominally Christian candidates.

It was a bet that fell far short for the D's, and worked well to deny Mitt a shot at the 2008 nomination.

But the choices at this point are simple:

(a) Obama - extreme far left marxist...

(b) a throwaway vote to a third party candidate which in strong blue states is meaningless, and in red states or toss-up, works against McCain...

(c) not voting at all, which has the same effect as (b)

(d) voting for McCain - center/moderate left.

Obama's an "extreme far left Marxist"! Oh noes! Lemme guess, he's gay and French, too? And wants to surrender to Al-Qaeda! And raise your taxes! And legalize gay abortions!!!1

Honestly, when you guys lose every state but Utah and Texas, you have yourselves to blame. Seriously. Don't bother blaming your candidate, a liberal Republican who's planning a dispirited campaign. Blame yourselves for being such a bunch of broken-record asshats.

I thought LGBT was against gay abortion?

This may be the one issue which ends Obama's chances.

"Blame yourselves for being such a bunch of broken-record asshats."

I think the repugnicans could agree to do that if the demonrats would agree to the same. Sweet uncle Jubal, the thought of listening to another moment of left wing whining!!! Makes me want to move into that little house on the beach in Belize.

Willie, we're likely to hear all sorts of whinings and rumblings from the Left before all this is over in November. I really don't know how it all will play out, but none of the three likely candidates for President will be any good. Obama has limited experience, some wacky ideas and his Muslim connections worry me, although I have no good reason for thinking him sympathetic to the radical Islamists. It's just a hunch.

Hillary is, well, Hillary. Enough said. And McCain is a man with a flawed character, not the kind of person I would like to see in charge. Oh, well, I'll probably pull the lever for McCain, and take the advice of the Gremlins and stock up on canned goods and shotgun shells. Blech!

I am a senior citizen(68 this year)and I resemble that remark. Old white men unite you have nothing to lose. Vote for Johnny Mac the thinking man's best Commander in Chief.

We've got to come up with a way to get to a brokered convention and somehow get Thompson in as the nominee. Otherwise we are screwed!

This needs to be aired BEFORE the convention.

Kate, I'm with you, but the facts are we're screwed.

There are serious reasons for conservatives to be concerned about the fact that McCain will be the GOP nominee. I have them too.

But he will be the nominee.

And this verbal gaffe -- he obviously was rehearsing what he was about to say, by way of contrast, about his two opponents being liberal Democrats -- is trivial, not serious.

Because of his age his choice of VP is very important (something we should have insisted on with Bush at least in his second term)... and the Huskster isn't it. But you know all these candidates out on the campaign stump make mistakes, forget where they're at, etc. This kind of misspeak is common.

@ Kate

A brokered convention benefits no one and I don't want insiders picking the candidate. I'm much happier with the electorate doing so, even if I'm not always thrilled with the outcome. Thompson wouldn't be the nominee coming out of one, even if it were to happen. I was a Thompson supporter. Liked his approach on most issues, not all but most.... but he isn't going to be the nominee. Period.

He didn't want it bad enough. Don't know why, could have been his mother's health. Could have been the hoops a candidate must jump through. Could have been the snide attacks on his wife. Don't know, but I don't want a president who doesn't want to be there. It's a hard job with a lot of weight and takes enormous toll on your family... I can't imagine why anyone would push anyone to take it who doesn't have their heart in it. I think Thompson falls into that category and for those ever hopeful Democrats out there so does the Goracle.

What we can best hope for is McCain picks a great VP, because if McCain wins, he very well could be a one term president. That and a great VP choice could help him win.
