As if the GOP doesn't already have enough trouble with the growing numbers of legitimate Hispanic voters. Texas pols aren't really corrupt, I guess those nasty, corrupt third world Mexicans transmit signals across the border. Or is Pinkerton simply suggesting that legal Mexican immigrants are to blame because they're genetically corrupt? The Dems will have a ball with this one, given Pinkerton's role as a senior adviser to Huckabee.
BROWNSVILLE — The bribe has long been a shortcut to wealth and power along the Texas-Mexico border. But these days, it's not just politicians lining their pockets or crooked lawmen taking bags of cash to overlook drug loads.
The culture of bribery is quietly seeping into new realms of government, from school districts to municipal court, experts say.
Proximity to Mexico is at least partly to blame, said Anthony Knopp, a professor who teaches border history at the University of Texas at Brownsville.
"What we're dealing with is a Third World country on the other side of the border where there is a culture of corruption ... corruption will show up here, naturally."
And show up, it has.
And via Hot Air headlines to The Campaign Spot, I guess the Jewish vote is off the table, too. If Huckabee gets the nod, the future of the GOP is looking rosy, indeed. But it won't be from the blood of Christ. It'll be from the bleeding after the beating they'll take at the pols.
The anti-Arabist view was most strongly held, of course, by the neoconservatives, who came from a very different tradition. Many of the “neocons” made no pretense of knowing much about the Middle East, except for Israel. By background, most of them were pundits, polemicists, and military theorists, as distinct from career soldiers. When they looked to the Middle East, they focused not so much on the region itself, but on US policy toward the region. And they disdained the Arabists, whom they regarded as naïve apologists at best and terrorist-coddlers at worst...
After 9-11, the neocons gained the heart of the President.

Do people not know that the 'neo-conservative' movement came from Jewish people who escaped Stalist USSR when Reagan came along?
And the creepiest thing is that so many Americans in the Jewish community helped the Dems and the Paleoconservatives run the neo-conservatives out of Washington DC a couple of years ago.
I'm a neo-con(former liberal mugged by reality) who lives in NYC, met Nathan Sharansky once and even attended many pro-Israel rallies though I'm not Jewish. From my perspective, after hearing for the last six years from the mouths of so many Jewish NYers that 'Bush is Hilter', or 'repugs are backward redneck hicks' or 'America is an evil hegemonic imperialist empire' all the while demanding that Bush and America militarily come to the defense of Israel I have absolutely no sympathy left towards Israel. Thanks Jerrold Nader and Chuck Schumer your hatred of America means the death of Israel.
Besides the GOP never had more than 20% of the Jewish vote, the Jewish vote has always gone to the Democrat Party.
A wise person once said: If you crap on your friends don't expect them to come to your defense.

I don't understand the post. What's the link between Huckabee and Mexican corruption? Are you saying that Huckabee being liberal about immigration is encouraging the demise of the majority culture and thus the G.O.P.?

well, i'm a bit lost on this one also. legitimate hispanic voters already know about the bribery on both sides of the border. the jewish vote, mitt won't get it either, look up "sealing". a lot of this stuff is why i'm for a social moderate or social independent this time around. just stay conservative with defense and the money please.

Well, "sealing" is a bit vague. Is this some Mormon practice? Does it have to do with baptizing deceased Jews into the Mormon faith? What are you talking about?

I think the idea is that a) Pinkerton is crapping on Mexicans and Jews, b) Pinkterton has hitched himself to Huck's star. Which is absurd, because in real life an Eastern Establishment man like Pinkterton would see an Arkansas Baptist minister as something to be scraped off one's shoe. And I would have thought Pinky to have a better eye for winners. Too bad, so sad.
