The Fred Effect On Display In Florida: Mitt Wins?

Honestly, I had a thought this was going to happen. One Rasmussen poll isn't definitive, but take a look at these two links:

Romney up five in Florida:

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey finds Mitt Romney with a slight lead in Florida’s Republican Presidential Primary. John McCain and Rudy Giuliani are close behind in what may develop into a three-man race. It’s Romney at 25%, McCain at 20%, and Giuliani at 19%. Romney has picked up seven points over the past week while McCain and Giuliani each inched up a point.

Now a poll by Patrick Ruffini: Currently 73% of Fred supporters claim they'll go to Romney as a second choice to Thompson.

And even if Fred endorses McCain, 90% wouldn't care.

Whether he planned it, or not, Fred Thompson has made his final appearance in Campaign 2008. An announcement will be more curtain call than withdrawal speech. The migration has already begun.

The Washington Post suggests McCain has defused his conservative attacks. Just another part of the media love fest today, touting McCain and telling people what they should believe. Too bad, as usual, they have no idea what they're talking about when talking about things like you and me.

I wonder how they'll spin it when their not too conservative hero goes down to defeat in Florida? Maybe it's that damned Global Warming? Yeah, that must be it.

Comments

Too bad that the GOP is so damn stupid that they let open primary states determine who becomes the running RINO.

The GOP lacks the brains or the stones to win.

Smarty,

You fail to realize that Florida is a closed primaries off limits to moderates and independents now.

I have liked Mitt for a while, but almost just as importantly I want to see Huckabee and McAmnesty stopped. Most of what I have seen on the blogs also says most Fredheads would get behind Mitt. The sooner they start, the less of a chance McCain and Huckabee have of being our nominee.

Tell me why you like Romney, Cory. He's not a conservative. He's weak on crime, is a liberal on social issues, and has been a pro-amnesty and open borders guy in the past. Tell me why I should vote for this guy. If it's just because he CAN win, forget it.

Mitt may not have been "pure" in his conservatism in the past, but neither had Thompson. Mitt has changed over time (like Reagan and many, many others). He has come over to conservatism and will govern as a conservative. Out of the viable candidates, Numbers USA has him as the toughest candidate on illegal immigration. He has already vowed to cut down all unnecessary government spending, something he has tremendous experience with in the private sector. He is very stong on social issues (pro-life and anti-gay marriage). Who would govern most as a conservative if elected between Huckabigot, McAmnesty, Clinton, Obama, and Romney? The answer is VERY clear. Go Mitt!

Thanks for the laughs, Fred! Best of luck lobbying for the abortionists!

Cory, one more question, and I'll quit. Are you Mormon? The reason I ask is because of the slur directed at Huckabee.

In selecting your Presidential candidate, please reflect on the dire consequences of a docile retreat before a relatively small band of Islamic extremists; and, attempt to formulate your own opinion as to the most prudent course of action in the defense of our Nation. It might assist to consider the following scenario: the infiltration of a group of terrorists similar to the Atta cabal with a quantity of weaponized anthrax procured from a rogue state; the acquisition of a single crop-duster aircraft fitted with a dry-agent disseminator; and, the dispersal of that dangerous toxin over an American population center. The loss of American life would be catastrophic. -Or-, is it preferable to pre-empt such fanatics by destroying them on their home turf, such as Afghanistan and Iraq, before they secure the capacity to threaten our homeland? The latter is in fact a key element in current American strategy. Is it advisable to support any candidate who would reverse course and sacrifice the impressive gains against Islamofacists that young Americans have shed their precious blood to achieve? The fact that we have not experienced another 9/11 is not a by-chance occurrence. Further, it's critical to appreciate the pivotal role that our own border security plays in our "war against terrorism", keeping in mind that "Amnesty" is anathema to border security. A Nation without enforceable borders will not long survive as a Nation. Mitt Romney is exceedingly strong on each of these principles.
