Update: Romney camp is already spinning a close loss - no call or concession. FWIW
If this is true and there's a deal - anything other than Homeland Security makes McCain off-limits for the Evangelical base. He already loses the base vote on abortion and where does pro-choice Rudy go? AG? DOJ? The Supreme Court? Forget about it. This will make social cons distrust McCain even more. They won't show up.

Gonna be intereseting to see what happens as the race is now narrowing down to:
McCain
Romney
Huck (expected to duck out sometime after Tsunami Tuesday, and possible McCain stalking Horse #3...?)
Ron Paul...?
...why do I get the uncomfortable feeling, not unlike the deep intestinal rumblings that occasionally follow a nice tall draught of unfiltered Mexican water... that we will see McCain riding Big Mo to the nomination?
For all the talk of brokered nominations, I don't see it happening now.

I guess he was banking on an AG or SecDef appointment or maybe VP, if Huck hasn't already drooled himself silly for the job at McCain's feet.

I have serious reservations regarding the veracity of candidates when they say they love this country and put it first as they wheel and deal in the background jockeying for power and position for themselves. Republicans seem very guilty of this, this go round. Now the democrats are coming off much better to their supporters and at least they're thinking about me....well, i mean thinking about what i have in my pocket and how they can transfer it into the pocket of their supporters.

Willard needs to lighten up. He has millions of dollars, great hair and gets to tell people that he is a living saint! Not too shabby.
