Frankly, Kennedy is still an over-rated, somewhat reckless president - though given a full run of eight years, that might have changed. His blemishes have were erased with his assassination. Some believe he might not have won re-election. Jules takes a look at Obama's recent endorsement by Caroline.
Endorsements tickle the chattering class, but usually produce limited, to no voter shift. It's the buzz around them that matters and Crist went late for McCain, limiting that impact. It may play well with late deciders.

Defacto liberal democrat, Crist is.
Say something, that does.

If B Hussein Obama is like JFK does that mean he will Nuc Cuba, Iraq, Iran and any other country, friend or foe, that he has a personality conflict with? JFK is the second worst president (behind Dimmy) that I have lived/served through in 67 years. He was a failure in the military, but bought out of trouble by 'bootleg whiskey' money instead of being court martialed for killing his crew, and he did panic and kill most of his crew. Family name saved by an assassin's bullet, followed by years of brainwashing of the public.

How's that Dick Morris theory, that whites will bail out on Obama if the blacks bloc-vote, working out? Not too well?
"(CNN) — Bill Clinton's aggressive campaigning in South Carolina in the days leading up to the state's primary may have had a net negative effect among South Carolina’s Democratic primary voters, CNN exit polls indicate."

Nuclear missiles in Cuba was a bit more than a personality conflict. I guess ScapIron was fine with Kruschev having missiles 60 miles off our coast.
Wouldn't have won re-election? You may want to look at the election totals from '64. Johnson won in a landslide. And Kennedy was much more telegenic than LBJ.
Posted by: Worst President Ever | Sunday, January 27, 2008 at 01:04 PM
Ugh, Dick Morris. Just the thought of him makes me want to take a shower.
Looks like it's working out pretty well. More than 530,000 votes were cast today in the Democratic primary. That's 100,000 more than were cast in last Saturday's GOP primary. And this year's Democratic primary turnout is an increase of 75% over 2004 when 290,000 people voted.
To put it another way, more people voted for Obama than voted for all Democratic candidates in 2004.
South Carolina is a very conservative state, In the 2004 election, Bush won it 937,974 to 661,699, by over 250,000. Obama getting more than twice as many votes as John McCain, the Republican winner in a Republican state, is bad news for the Republicans.

Worst, you don't seem to know what Morris was talking about. Read this:
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/political_commentary/commentary_by_dick_morris/how_clinton_will_win_the_nomination_by_losing_south_carolina
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Sunday, January 27, 2008 at 02:50 PM
Morris is a slimeball. I wouldn't believe anything he says. He's stuck believing the Clintons can play some bastardized racial strategy to carry them to the Democratic nomination. That's stupid. All that strategy will do is destroy the Hillary's candidacy.
The exit polls shows basically as many whites voted for Obama (27%) as did for Clinton (28%). And that's in a very conservative state. The only demographic Hilllary actually won was white women, and Obama still got 22% of their vote and Edwards 36% giving Hillary a minority of the demographic that should be her strongest. That spells big trouble down the line for her.
After Bill stepped into the campaign, voters who decided in the last three days who to vote for overwhelmingly went for Obama. The means Bill was a liability in the race, not an asset. That alone shows how stupid Morris' commentary is - South Carolinian's were rejecting Clinton's attempt to inject race into the campaign

obama might be a little like jfk - the jfk who:
- LIED about the misslie gap.
- who bailed on the bay of pigs.
- who blinked during the missile crisis - (yes: we lost that round; though nikita paid the price because the msm thought jfk won).
- who lied about his health
- who consorted with mafia broads and female spies
- who ordered the assassination of foreign leaders allied to the usa
- who did bupkus on civil rights
- who appointed his unqualified 36 yr old little bro' USAG
and so on.
LOOKIT: i don't think jfk was ALL bad. he was a hawk compared to today's dems - like obama.
but JFK was not a great prez and barely a good one.
and he was much more experienced and qualified than barack hussein "barry soetero" obama junior.
Posted by: reliapundit | Sunday, January 27, 2008 at 04:58 PM
The point isn't Kennedy's record - he's been dead for 40+ years, it's charisma and the power to move people with words and ideas. Like JFK, Obama's got it. He's an incredibly powerful speaker, the most gifted by far in the race, Republican or Democrat. Hillary has reason to worry.
Just watch his post-South Carolina speech.

we'll see how positive and life-embracing obama is perceived to be as more info on his black-supremacist church gets out. seems obama's pastor doesn't care too much for whitey - and obama appears to be ok with that.
we'll see if "race doesn't matter" then. also, if "race doesn't matter", why didn't south carolina blacks vote for any white people?
jfk was an inept fool. he screwed the pooch at the bay of pigs; the russians pantsed his incompetent ass on the berlin wall; and when he tried to act manly and presidential, he almost started world war 3. on top of that, he was a serial sexual predator who used his position to place family members on the government payroll. naturally, as they would to a similar president 3 decades later, democrats revere him. still, at least he's not the worst president ever. that'd be carter.
Posted by: nom de guerre | Monday, January 28, 2008 at 06:13 AM
A guy with the handle 'nom de guerre' trashes a president for standing up to the Russians and getting nuclear missiles removed from Cuba - 60 miles from our border. Hilarious, but you're going to trade that handle in. Might I suggest 'nom de pussy'?
Blacks, presented with the first viable black candidate for president, decide to vote for Obama - what a shock. Some blacks also voted for Hillary and some for Edwards. Just as some whites voted for Obama.
The real story is the support Obama has gained from ALL races. Look at Iowa, vastly white, that went for Obama. But you're prefer to spin what should something all Americans should be proud of with a racist slant - classy.
The rest of your post is basically revisionist BS. But you did forget to blame JFK for 9/11, Al Qaeda, the housing melt-down, and Brittany Spears latest problems.

"--- but bought out of trouble by 'bootleg whiskey' money instead of being court martialed for killing his crew ---"
Oh, come now. How could JFK expect that he's get t-boned by that Japanese destroyer (IJN Amagiri) running the Tokyo Express? :P
Posted by: seekeronos | Monday, January 28, 2008 at 11:59 AM
"Might I suggest 'nom de pussy'?"
WPE, I rarely agree with you, but when I do, I REALLY agree. I guess JFK could see that big ass Japanese destroyer baring down on his ass. If memory serves, his engines were shut down as well. Did anyone on the boat die? And no, he did not blink when the russians wanted to use Cuba as a missile base. Though he did kinda back down with he whole bay o pigs thing and begin the expansion of Vietnam. But "neversawawar" limit your detrimental statements to the truth will ya?
Posted by: Wahoo Willie Sez: | Monday, January 28, 2008 at 12:12 PM
ahhh, wahoo pussyman weighs in on the ol' PT-boat myth.
let's recap: top speed of WW2 jap destroyer: 20 knots?
top speed of WW2 pt-boat: 40 knots.
in ALL of WW2, how many lieutenants managed to get their PT boats t-boned by an enemy ship they were twice as fast as? in what must have been a drunken, non-combat action? (if it'd been combat, the jap destroyer would've stopped, blown PT-109's fragments out of the water, and gunned down the survivors. didn't happen that way, did it?) as far as "lt. kennedy saving the survivors", well now, lt. kennedy is the guy who wrote the book, wasn't he? rather like lt. kerry, another highly decorated war hero from massachusetts.
nice of you to admit pretty much everything i wrote about kennedy's failed presidency was true, pussyman. it WAS amusing to see you justify his pathetic attempts to regain his lost-on-the-berlin-wall manliness as "not blinking". what kind of a moronic pussy admires stupidity like that, wahoo? hmmmm?
yeah, 'wanting to look presidential' was a good reason to almost start WW3. BTW, the cuban missiles JFK didn't want to blink over were back in cuba by 1965. way to not blink there, jfk.
Posted by: nom de guerre | Monday, January 28, 2008 at 04:50 PM
Ah, making up facts as needed. There were no nuclear-tipped Soviet missiles in Cuba in 1965. And Kennedy, who you've been obsessed with, was assassinated in '63, which makes your post about 1965 even more ludicrous. Even Kruschev, deposed in Oct, 64, was gone.
As for Kennedy's failed presidency, more objective analysts than you - that would be history profs - rate him somewhat higher, most in the top third of all presidents.
But you're welcome to your opinion on that, but you don't get to make up your own facts.
After the PT-109 incident, the Navy awarded JFK several medals for his actions that day. Since I doubt you were there, I'll trust their judgment over yours since they took eye-witness testimony.
And here's what a real eyewitness said: "He saved our lives. I owed him my life. I tell everybody that." Charles Harris.
And surprise, surprise, you can't even get the speed of a destroyer vs PT boats right. Let's recap: While you claim the PT boat at 40 knots was twice as fast as the destroyer at 20 knots, in fact there was little difference - Japanese destroyers could actually do 38 knots - about 45 miles an hour - while the top speed of a PT boat was 41 knots.
While I said your first post was largely revisionist BS, your last post is basically fiction and distortions. I guess that makes you 'Nom de BS'.
Posted by: Worst President Ever | Monday, January 28, 2008 at 09:16 PM
The book PT 109 was written by Robert Donovan, not Kennedy. The 109 was one of several boats out that night with orders to find the Jap fleet. (I guess they did)There has NEVER been controversy about Kennedy's actions that night from any of his crew or anyone involved. You can't hide a lie very long.
Yeah, I guess we can blame Kennedy for missiles in 1965....Goes beyond revisionist, but let's say he shoulda channeled his feelings from the grave to LBJ. WPE, wasn't that about the same time LBJ didn't think we "should be sending Amurcan boys to do the job Vetmanese boys should be a doin'" ?
Posted by: Wahoo Willie Sez: | Monday, January 28, 2008 at 10:05 PM
quite the little tale there, wpe. spin as you might, though, i couldn't help but notice that you still couldn't manage to explain how kennedy managed to get his little boat t-boned by a ship he was faster than. was he just drunk at the conn? did they just stupidly drift into the path of an oncoming destroyer? which was it? incompetence, stupidity, or just really bad luck?
naturally, kennedy apologists - of whom "history professors" seem to make up a large portion of - use this tawdry little episode to illuminate kennedy's *good* qualities. hoping, i guess, that by chanting this fable long & loud enough, they can get us to overlook kennedy's grotesque failures:
1) a serial sexual predator
2) a serial adulterer - but then, democrats rarely allow themselves to be inconvenienced by mere sacred oaths, huh? god knows the *kennedys* didn't, anyway. "middle-class ethics are for poor proles!" papa joe was known for saying. (later, he lobotomized his own daughter, to make her more manageable. democrats routinely defend this, btw)
3) a nepotist nonpariel. or is it the contention of "history profs" that jfk's *brother* was the only logical choice for att'y general?
4) a foreign policy IDIOT. kennedy stumbled drunkenly from one disaster to the next: from the bay of pigs - while he sat with his thumb up his ass and did nothing;
5) to the construction of the berlin wall - while he sat with his thumb up his ass and did nothing
6) when he DID manage to muster up the gumption to do something, kennedy - uniquely - made bad situations WORSE. he almost started world war 3 over cuban missiles that were already in place, and were replaced as soon as the cameras were turned off.
7) in vietnam, he sanctioned the assassination (ironic, no?) of a democratically-elected president. he did this for his own convenience. "kill him" were his exact words. (oddly, this doesn't get mentioned much in the 'camelot' myth, does it.)
8) kennedy is also famous for his ringing defense of ..... joe mccarthy! "history profs" don't like to talk about this.
9) another thing kennedy apologists seem reluctant to discuss is the fact he was, by pretty much all accounts, a de facto drug addict.
10) ...and then there's that whole "kennedy never did jack squat about civil rights" problem. well, he DID have MLK wiretapped. does that count?
hell, pretty much the ONLY thing GOOD kennedy ever did was - just like george w. bush - was agitate for tax cuts.
or can you tell the class otherwise? hmmm? (and "he started the peace corps!!!" doesn't count. we'll need something *tangible*?) if you can't - and i doubt you can - we might ask why do you have such a fixation on an essentially corrupt, bungling, incompetent, 4th rate president such as kennedy? did you just blindly swallow the camelot whopper? are you not a reader?

Oh my, the right really does have them too.
Posted by: WAHOO WILLIE SEZ: | Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at 10:59 AM
Again, I don't really care whether you like Kennedy or not. But you continue to either distort the facts about PT109 or simply make stuff up then when called on it, move on to distort another set of facts.
So first, lets deal with your previous poast.
You never explained why the PT-109 eyewitness accounts shouldn't be believed. Do you have new evidence of some sort? Or are you consumed with some sort of Kennedy Derangement Syndrome (KDS)?
Why did you post bogus numbers for the speed of the boats, telling us a Japanese destroyer could only do 20 knots when it could actually do 38. An error of almost 100%. PT boats top out at 41, making Kennedy's boat barely faster than the ship that hit him.
Why do you continue to say the nuclear missiles in Cuba were returned when they weren't?
Posted by: Worst President Ever | Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at 11:16 AM
WPE: Dude, you hit it on the head: KDS. The guy is intractible and at this point you're wasting your time. Just agree that Jack and the boys were sitting off the Solomon's for no apparent reason, smoking some good Hawaiian pot and jammin' to Jimmy Hendrix. Suddenly, a Jap trawler on it's way tuna fishing, trying to avoid "GreenPeace" because of the whole dolphin thing, bumped into them really hard. Jack was waaaay to stoned to do anything but laugh so some really dark tanned dudes pulled the boat ashore. Dad had to pay for the damages to both boats and for the tow from the locals.
Accept that Jack shoulda channeled his orders from the grave: "No more nukes in Cuber, you commie pogues" and the second gunman was really in the storm drain, not the grassy knoll.
Posted by: WAHOO WILLIE SEZ: | Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at 12:21 PM
since you kids have chosen to focus solely on the pt-109 legend, and haven't challenged a one (not even one! why not? are you *admitting* kennedy was a presidential failure??) of my laundry list of kennedy's presidential screwups, i'll have to assume you agree with my assessment that jfk was a mendacious, incompetent, self-serving sociopath with the impulse control of a 12-year-old.
yet you foolishly, blindly, unquestioningly swallow the sociopath's story of (his own) heroism. in a book commissioned by his plutocrat father, designed solely to advance junior's political career. do ya think it MIGHT be possible the author, eager to please father joe, spiked any & all material that showed jfk in a bad light? no? "it's all true, every word of it!"? stay away from con men, children: i fear you're their natural prey. 'critical thought' clearly not your strong points.
wpe, you DO seem a tad pissy that someone would dare to hold your boy kennedy to the exact same hostile, hypercritical standards that you're measuring bush by. as if doing so were somehow unfair. naaaaah, you're not being a hypocrite! why would anyone think *that*? no worries, though: as bad, as inept, as incompetent as kennedy was, he's nowhere near the 'worst president ever'.
that'd be carter.
Posted by: nom de guerre | Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at 03:42 PM
No, I said you're welcome to your own opinion, just as I am mine. It's still a free country.
Bug facts are a different matter. You don't get to make them up. Other than the name of the boat, you got 'em pretty much all wrong. And that's damn hard to do. And you refuse to address your factual errors, just continue to rant. You contradict eye-witness accounts with no evidence other than your BS opinion. You got the speed of the boats wrong, the author of Kennedy's book wrong, that nuclear tipped missles returned to Cuba in '65 wrong. You also slander Kennedy as being drunk when he wasn't, that he didn't deserve his medals when all who were there say he did. To recap: That's wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong and f**** wrong. Rant all you want but to have any credibility, ya gotta get something right once-in-a-while.
That's it for me. I've got better things to do than deal with a ranter who can't answer a simple question about his, uh, "facts".
