McCain Lying On Tape
This is what the Republicans want to nominate for the Fall?
Good luck with that. Let me know when the bleeding is done.
As I said previously, perhaps the GOP establishment feels 08 is already lost and they're happy to watch the Maverick get gut shot in the street. No genuinely insightful and honest political observer on the Right can honestly believe he can win.
Is McCain the Republican's sacrificial lamb? Is the establishment happy to watch what amounts to a fifth columnist get strung up?
Could be. The dynamics are different, but Dole was able to be creamed by Clinton because some potential top contenders chose to not play. Some people play three dimensional chess. Some people think every election matters more, while some take their lumps and take a longer view.
I like to win elections myself. But if you recall, Clinton won his first nomination because some top tier Dems with presidential ambitions took a pass. Bush 41's numbers were too high when the primaries started after Gulf War I. They only tanked later in the year when the economy went south. Clinton was an accidental president in more ways than one. There was also Ross Perot.
So, did some of what would be the GOP's best decide to give 08 a pass, so as to not squander their credibility in a year destined to bring an unavoidable loss?
Or might we get hit in late summer, the only scenario wherein I can see a McCain win.
What a hoot if we were to get this angry, one issue, nearly senile citizen as an accidental president, too.
American politics, baby. It's in the game.

McCain McLies. His stubbornness to accept the truth on this topic is disgraceful and deplorable. It’s a shame when a grown man refuses to take responsibility and apologize for his dirty tactics and smear campaign to get political gain. I came across a quote the other day from you McCain during the 2000 election that states that you “would not take the low road to the high position for President”….so much for that promise? I guess times have changed, just like your politcal agenda (McCain-Feingold, McCain-Kennedy, McCain-Lieberman)? It's time for the "staight talk, no walk" express to derail.

A John McCain versus Mrs. Clinton match-u should be the ugliest campaign in the nation's history. Both are thin skinnned, vile, nasty, and unqualifed but somehow both feel entitled to the office. This will be both's last bite at the apple. Expect desparation, smeaers and lies, or oolitics as normal.

I dunno. I strongly dislike McCain, but I think he can win if Hillary gets the nomination. I know a number of Dems and assorted left-leaners who hate her and claim they will vote for the Republican over her or else not vote at all. Perhaps it's just talk, but if it's true, and if it happens on a wider scale than my admittedly anecdotal experience, then we could well see a President McCain.
Of course, I think Obama would beat McCain handily. Heck, I might vote for him myself. I'm thinking, if we're going to have a liberal in the white house, might as well have a D after his name...
