Unless Romney can turn Michigan around, it's looking more and more like McCain. He's up by 6 in Michigan. Rudy lost his finance chair, not a good sign. I'd take Rudy over St. John.
And McCain is up in South Carolina, a lead that's sure to grow what with Thompson hammering on Huckabee.
If you think he got a bounce after New Hampshire, imagine the result after winning in Michigan and SC. He'll fly into Florida to take on a weakened Giuliani and have his wingman Fred, assuming Huckabee is still around.
If it plays out that way, it'll remind me of when the Republicans went with an aging Dole against the incumbent Clinton.
Dole eventually won the nomination, becoming the oldest first-time presidential nominee at the age of 73 years, 1 month (Ronald Reagan was 73 years, 6 months in 1984, for his second presidential nomination).
I doubt if it will be that ugly, but against a younger, more hopeful Obama, or even a, by then, well-organized Clinton, Inc., with an un-enthusiastic base, it might still be ugly to watch.

You're an idiot. The power of hated and racism.
