Update: Fox claims it will call race at 9 PM when polls close. Has to be a Romney win, obviously.
Update: Romney's back on the air in South Carolina.
The Romney campaign is back on TV today in South Carolina after pulling ads off the air in all states, but Michigan. Ads are not yet back on in Florida, but the campaign says “a decision there is imminent.”
Update: Not much new here. If Romney does win, I call dibs on the wince when he says he won the Gold. Doesn't he have at least one consultant to tell him to give that up? Somehow "going for the Gold" isn't the best slogan when pursuing the presidency. The Clintons actually were going for the gold, and they got it - but had the sense to play it down.
Around metro Detroit and across the state, turnout has been so low for the presidential primary that some clerks predict the majority of votes will come from absentee ballots.
Clerks say snowy weather and a non-race on the Democratic side have kept numbers down.
Update Geraghty: Remember - THESE ARE EXIT POLLS.
And The First Exit Polls in Michigan Say...
I'm surprised no one else has put this up yet. I'm hearing the first round of exit polls have Romney 35, McCain 29, Huckabee 15, Ron Paul 10, Giuliani 4. This doesn't count absentee ballots.
Just heard it on the car radio.
Allah links this based on leaked exit polls - a blog predicting a Romney win. Take it for what it's worth.
But this does look good for Romney. Still, remember, these are exit polls, not votes.
The last time Michigan had a competitive Republican presidential primary, in 2000, self-described Republican voters were a minority. Tuesday's GOP primary had a much more normal partisan split, with a solid majority of Republicans and far fewer Democrats.

So Romney wins his home state primary. Look out Hillary. Why is it that Romney can flip on every issue and be loved by conservatives but when Kerry did it, conservatives were all over him. Call conservatives many things but don't call them principled.

I call it sad, that so many so-called "conservatives" cannot pick out a flip-flopper who will sell them down the river in a New York... erm, "Michigan" minute.
And why hasn't Fred hammered Johnny Mac on this:

He didn't say we got the gold. Maybe he read your blog.
