Giuliani Broke

Rudy's campaign has been running ads, so they've been spending money without being in an active race. Now via Fox it seems they're scrambling to cut corners and it sounds pretty serious. Note they aren't talking about saving cash for super Tuesday, but just for Florida.

With his poll numbers tanked, raising money won't be an easy thing. And it'll take big bucks for Rudy to compete in major media markets he absolutely needs.

Exit question: Even if Romney loses close in Michigan, since he alone can afford major buys running up to super Tuesday, could he be thinking along those lines by taking a break from spending now? He could re-invent himself as this becomes a national campaign that's all ads and airport stops. He's a business guy and the economy may emerge as issue number one in the Fall.

FOX NEWS has learned Rudy Giuliani’s cash strapped presidential campaign has asked paid staffers to work without pay retro active to January first to save money.

Senior staffers say it is VOLUNTARY and nobody will be forced to work free.

The effort is to keep available the most resources for the Florida primary January 29th.

Sources say the campaign has also contacted vendors to see what ways it can save money by cutting costs.
FOX NEWS has repeatedly led the reporting on Giuliani’s cash woes.

Sources say they are NOT out of money, they have some cash on hand but need much more.

I do have to wonder at this point. Romney's repeatedly tapped his own stash. McCain has had money problems. Guiliani is going broke. Thompson hemorrhaged half his support before he even got to a primary. Huckabee never had money to begin with.

Is this election going to come down to "Last man with a dollar to spend"? I think Huckabee could take the election simply on the merit that he doesn't seem to need to spend to win.

Caught a bit of the Mark Lavin radio show last evening. Two things. First, he mentioned you favorably, Dan, called you his friend. Second, he had a phone interview with Sen. Rick Santorum. Santorum orally beat McCain about the head and shoulders with a big truncheon. He explained the he (Santorun) had the job in the Senate to corral Repub support for conservative policies and legislation. One person he could rely upon to not cooperate or outright oppose conservative ideas and plans was McCain, who was not there to respond. But Rick did a number on McCain's record.

A wise pundit, sorry forgot who it was, said in effect that long-time senators have a hard time running for POTUS because they have long voting records. It is hard to spin a voting record. For example, Kerry tried: "I voted for it before I voted against it." It made him a laughing stock.

Rick did McCain orally? I thought he was against that kind of thing.

Sorry, Mark Levin.

Spart acting the a--h--- Again. Get you mind on politics, Bozo.

Rick "Man on Dog" Santorum has connected himself for life to the gay bashing label, not my fault.

Sorry, Spart. Forgive me. I didn't mean to call you Bozo. I meant to call you Bonzo.

Tell me, Spart, can one "connect" one's self "to" a label? Or, must one stick a label on one's self?

"First, he mentioned you favorably, Dan,"

Thanks, Fred - Mark's a very good man, impressive for his knowledge and his human side - very down to earth. Quite amazing for a national pundit like him.

Or paste a label on one's sticky self?

Or maybe connect it to one's lapel?

I enjoy listening to Levin when I can. He has been on a tear the last few days ranting about how several of the Repub candidates are pretending to be life-long conservatives when the opposite is obviously the case (complete with examples).

Wasn't Bonzo Ronnie Reagan's Dick Cheney?????

"Connect it", Bonzo? "To one's lapel'? I rather think not. And no, mini-Bonzo, not that Bonzo.

"can one "connect" one's self "to" a label?"

OLEAGINOUS, adj.
Oily, smooth, sleek.

Disraeli once described the manner of Bishop Wilberforce as "unctuous, oleaginous, saponaceous." And the good prelate was ever afterward known as Soapy Sam. For every man there is something in the vocabulary that would stick to him like a second skin. His enemies have only to find it.

- Ambrose Bierce, "The Devil's Dictionary"

Well, I'll say one thing , rwily, there is such a word for our dear Bonzo...this here Bonzo we got ri' tchea. What he likes is a callipygian man, every time. You could look it up.

rudy's NEVER had a real chance anyway. A bunch of us are going to one of these
"STOMP the Mormon" parties in Grand Rapids next week. I guess they have these in every city there's been a primary vote and they bash or encourage people to not vote for mitt or any mormon ever because of the way they'll destroy america with their screwy religion ( their words, not mine). Not a whole lot of people show up I'm told, there were 7 of these in NH and they only had 14,000 people total. Sounds nuts, but I can't wait to check it out!

"Is this election going to come down to "Last man with a dollar to spend""

i would imagine that's been the plan. romney wouldn't be where he is now without his own money, not enough people like him.
