Well, hate is a very strong word. But clearly some of the contenders have issues with Romney. Amy Goldstein speculates as to why at American Thinker. That aside, I found this passage particularly worthy of note:
He can win. Governor Romney appeals to economic conservatives and could appeal to foreign policy conservatives based upon his understanding of the issues. Most non-partisan foreign policy wonks who have briefed the major candidates tell me that Romney "gets it" better than any other candidate -- even better than those who have held high profile office for decades. Moreover, he is the candidate that the Democrats most fear.
I know he gets the GWOT and Islamic radicalism, which is important to me.

How much does John McCain understand about anything. McCain's strong suit may be his support for the Global War on Terror, but even there, his judgement is suspect. McCain seem in favor of sending divisions we no not have with lines of communication which can not be established.
I respect McCain's military service, but not his military judgement.

I think they hate Romney for his freedom. But that's just a guess.

McCain pretends not to understand that the Surge would not have been successful without the Anbar Awakening and the surge in Iraqi forces but then he's made a career out of pandering to the MSM. All of the fooferaw over waterboarding is a case in point. He left the impression that the U.S. has tortured untold numbers of prisoners when in fact it has resorted to this highly effective but coercive interrogation technique (which inflicts no bodily harm and causes no lasting damage) on three occassions - KSM and two other highest level terrorist leaders.
And he wants to close Gitmo. IMHO, he's strong on Iraq but mediocre on GWOT.

The charitable reason why they hate Mitt is because for most of them he's the guy they have to beat. The less charitable is because Mitt's run negative ads against most of them. And the even less charitable is because Mitt's claim to be the most conservative of the bunch is flatly ridiculous.

a few months ago in an interview with Chris Matthews, Jim Kramer of MSNBC said the same thing. He called Romney, "...the best businessman in North America. He really understands this stuff."
I thought Matthews would cry.

McCain was Jealous of Abel
They hate Romney because he is so obviously superior to them. He's smarter, better looking, richer, more accomplished, and perfectly happy with who he is. Even worse, he doesn't brag. He just lets his superiority speak for itself. On the other hand, McCain is so full of anger and hate he can't see straight - if you question him he's likely to tell you to "F off A** hole. I know more about this than anybody in this room." There's a reason why he was off cheating on both his first and second wives. He has a huge inferiority complex. It probably stems from having his dad get him into the Naval academy followed by his almost flunking out and finishing 5th from the bottom of the class. But Romney doesn't need to win; he could easily go off into the sunset to enjoy his grandkids and live off the interest of his few hundred million and that drives Cain crazy!
