Both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama called for an end to attacking one another in ways that might be perceived as racial politicking.
"We're tired of watching Barack march around like Martin Luther King, Jr. on drugs over nothing," said a Clinton advocate.
An Obama spokesperson, said, "If Hillary wants to drag this election into the toilet, we can go there. There aren't any signs on the wall saying, No Blacks Allowed! Still, we're glad things have been resolved."
Both camps expressed relief that they were able to mend fences on this troubling development in the 2008 Democratic primary. ; )

Both groups were mature enough to deal with it now (though much of it has been blown out of proportion), but come the general election I fully expect that we'll see "swiftboat" groups coming out of the woodwork to practice race or gender politics. Rove has already been laying the groundwork.

The swiftboat folks most certainly never practiced race or gender politics. If I'm wrong, show some evidence please. What they did was expose a hypocrite who was selling long-dead fish and calling it fresh. While you're at it, Spart, how about some evidence to back up your lying, BDS-type charge against Rove? I'm beginning to get rather cross with your wacky nutroot nonsense.

Now please, Mr. Spartan, stop riling Mr. Beloit up with those Kos talking points. You'll be responsible if he gets one of those bad attacks of dyspepsia he is subject to.

"mature enough"
LMAO Man, there's one born every minute. They both pushed it until they reached a point where they might get some blowback, then did the whole "we're better than this" deal to get you idiots all warm. Liberals are such morons. Is that a hash mark on Hillary's pantsuit, or a worn spot from your nose?

Speaking of morons, two additional names come up. Huckabee is playing at being...Guess who...John Edwards.

It appears that the latest Mitchell Interactive Research poll (historically, the most accurate in terms of MI voters) of likely voters has Mitt up by a statistically significant margin of 6%, with likely Republicans (among whom Mitt takes the lion's share) up around 80%--and climbing. As yesterday's Riehl spot analysis put it, this is very good news for the Romney camp!

"...this is very good news for the Romney camp!"
Good news for Hillery and Barack too.

HAH! A Cease fire from the Clinton Camp is like the Paris Peace Treaty in Vietnam.
The Clinton Machine, with Monkey Boy Carville and Begala are just waiting to exploit
the next opportunity to employ their dirty work. That is why Bill brought them on staff.
Expect more mischief and mayhem headed into Super Tuesday. Count on it!

I didn't say that they "had" practiced race or gender politics, but that they "will".
Posted by: TheSpartan | Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at 11:56 AM
Ah, Spart as a prognosticator, a seer, a crystal ball geezer er...gazer, a seer, a prophet, a forecaster, an oracle and oral gull, a shaman, a palm reader, a fortune teller. What a guy! Tell us, oh man of mystery and powers, what else will they do? And what do you like in the third at Gulfstream?

"I didn't say that they "had" practiced race or gender politics, but that they "will". "
Unlikely.
If only because it wouldn't be their forte.
If you're trying to make a cynical prediction that folks on the 'R' side of the general election will attempt to make whatever political hay he can make using whatever leverage he can find, then, yes, someone will undoubtedly use race -- particularly if Clinton gets the 'D' nod. "Oh, gee whiz! Ms Clinton is a bully and used racial politics to beat "Barama" in the primaries! ...the big meanie!"
It would be significantly less likely were "Barama" the 'D' in November.
But it won't be any "Swiftboat" group that does it. It'd be another organic issue-movement.

I'm using "swiftboat" in the generic sense, can you follow that or do I need to slow down for you?
Fred, I like Your Mama in the 3rd at Gulfstream.

"I'm using "swiftboat" in the generic sense"
okay.
"can you follow that or do I need to slow down for you?"
Listen, sparkles, you've got a "generic" point. Don't go pointing out the point on your pointy head, or we can be here all day long. I'm an essayist, and 2,000 words is nuthin for me.
Posted by: rwilymz | Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at 03:42 PM
Oooooooo 2000 words? Dayum, do some of them have more than one syllable?
Posted by: TheSpartan | Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at 03:52 PM
They shook hands, turned their backs, and counted their fingers!
"All Change!"

Are you *that* forgetful?
Seriously, bucko, you need a long nap.
Posted by: rwilymz | Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at 09:14 PM
Generic sense? Precisely what does that mean in our native tongue, Spart? John Kerry presented himself in his run for the presidency as a heroic warrior, earlier as a war criminal, and later again as a warrior deeply against the war he "fought" in. In other words he was for the Vietnam war before he was against it. That is his MO it seems.
A group of his comrades-in-arms disputed some of the facts Kerry had stated about his military service. The Dem propaganda machine made up a verb to use against them: "to swiftboat". They claim it means to attack someone with lies. It should mean to attack a liar with the truth. I don't see how the word generic fits into the matter.
