Evidently Huckabee's campaign has released an immigration plan:
Hot off the presses. It’ll be formally released later today but Huck’s team is trying to reach out to bloggers so they’ve sent it out to a few of us first for publication. I’m distracted by Mitt’s speech at the moment — and the timing of this release may be no accident in that regard — and haven’t had time to consider it yet but I’m putting it out there now for you to mull. We’ll have comments later, I’m sure.
Yeah, timing is everything. Interesting that the guy who was so busy campaigning he didn't know the NIE was released had time to draft an immigration plan. Oh wait, it isn't a plan. Fred Thompson's document is a plan. But it's great to have Huckabee's, too. Some people do appreciate Cliffs Notes.
As for this:
Note: This plan is partially modeled on a proposal by Mark Krikorian, Executive Director of the Center for Immigration Studies. (“Re: Immigration: Ten Points for a Successful Presidential Candidate,” National Review, May 23, 2005.)
Partially modeled? As in picking out the best sounding, to conservatives, positions and regurgitating them? Too bad they missed this below from item 1 at NRO:
Presidential contenders don't come out and say they oppose enforcement, of course, but experience shows that's exactly what they mean when they offer the usual mealy-mouthed generalities.
They checked off item three, basically lifted the concepts in item 4 on Social Security numbers, etc.
3. Take amnesty off the table....
4. ... The IRS and the Social Security Administration should be instructed to stop accepting fake Social Security numbers or numbers that don't match the employees' names....
If nothing else, we can officially put Huckabee in the flip-flopper camp, as his long held and well-documented belief in giving federal dollars to immigrants for education seems to have simply vanished. I guess that's one Christian principle that wasn't ingrained well enough.
But then, we can't even be sure of that, really, for all we know, that isn't considered one of these:
Policies that promote or tolerate amnesty will be rejected.

What blatant dishonesty.
I've got to tell you, I'm losing faith in the bloggers I have relied on in the past who I used to think offered balanced, objective opinions on issues and candidates.
Important fact: Huckabee was not POTUS in Arkansas. He worked amidst a problem created and ignored by the present POTUS and Congess.
He hasn't flip=flopped...he believes now as he did as governor...first priority - SHUT THE BORDERS TO ILLEGALS!
That's sensible! As Arkansas' governor, Huckabee had no control over the borders. As POTUS he will!
Thank God for honest people like Huckabee. God forbid our conservative movement is influenced by dishonesty in blogging such as is displayed in this post and those recently at Hot Air.

You people HAVE to quit drinking the Huckster Kool-Aid! While governor of Arkansas, Huckabee welcomed illegals into the state and did nothing to prosecute those employers who hired illegals. Thanks to him, we now have a Mexican consulate office in Little Rock! I'll be voting for the REAL conservative in the primaries who has a REAL plan to fix the immigration problem, Fred Thompson. I don't support liberal RINOs like Huckananny.

Why does the Huckster hate young Arkansans who are struggling to pay for college?
Why did the Huckster place them on the same plane of competition as foreigners who emigrated and squat illegally in his state for college tuition?
