Politics: Dumb, Disgusting And Dumber

Have you had enough of the 08 primary season, yet? I imagine it's driving Bush's popularity rating up.

Iowa Rep. Steve King endorsed Fred, that'll help Huckabee more than anything else. I actually like Fred, he just isn't willing to do what it takes to win and Hillary would smoke him in the general. The King endorsement helps Huck mostly by hurting Romney.

Now that apparent dirt bag Bob Kerrey dropped the H-bomb on Obama, I guess all that's left is for her to change her campaign song to Cocaine by Clapton.

Up: Ron Paul and John McCain

Down: Everyone else.

McCain did a podcast interview with Glenn Reynolds today and he gets th Lieberman nod. It's going to be an interesting couple of months. On the Republican side, anyone might be able to drag themselves across the finish line at this point. On the Dem side, Hillary will probably handle Obama. She's not likable no matter what she does. But the machine is hard to beat.

Anybody know McCain's take on the 2nd Amendment? If we get a Dem president or anti-gun president and Dem congress I'm afraid they would roll back all of the progress made in self-defense in last several years. See NYT today for some fresh propaganda:

"Likewise, when the justices finish diagramming the Second Amendment, they should end up with something that expresses a causal link, like: “Because a well regulated militia is necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.” In other words, the amendment is really about protecting militias, notwithstanding the originalist arguments to the contrary."

Along these lines, Dan, I just ran into something I hadn't known before. The Compact Oxford English Dictionary on the Net gives the second meaning of the word "militia" as follows: "a rebel force opposing a regular army". IF this were a second meaning in the time of the founders, the 2nd Amendment could be read this way: A well regulated force to oppose the regular army being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

The founders were very worried about the government going haywire. Nowadays we seem to find it almost unthinkable, we support our troops, etc.

I wonder if any of your readers are familiar with this definition or argument?

Well, I guess it's all over. Andrew Sullivan just endorsed Ron Paul on the Republican side. He, of course, still favors Obama on the Democratic side, and presumably in the general election....but who knows. If one of the other candidates comes out of the closet, he would probably switch sides.

Wow. Wait until Fred gets up from his mid-morning nap and finds out that he is the King of Iowa! BIG party tonight at 5 at the Red Lobster!!

I want Fred to win-but I do wonder if McCain might announce Lieberman as his VP. It would take a lot of the Dem vote away from Hillary.

Man, remember back in the day when it was all about Rudy! Rudy! Rudy! 9/11! Rudy? What ever happened to that? When did the Republicans need to resort to tail-chasing all their 2nd tier candidates?

The 'Urban Legend' has been outed as a phony fetus-hater. His trashy 'wife' doesn't help either.

Islamo, the wicked witch is faltering as well, what's the latest on the 'Breck Boy' and the 'Madrassa Babe'? Have any more fat, black women endorsed the stealth Muslim? People want to know these things, man.

"--- Wow. Wait until Fred gets up from his mid-morning nap and finds out that he is the King of Iowa! BIG party tonight at 5 at the Red Lobster!! ---"

Ordinarily, Chris/Bob is about as funny as a herniated disk. But I had to chuckle at that line about "waking up and finding out he's the King of Iowa".

Much, too much stock placed in this one state. I was honestly expecting Rep. King to give his blessing to Mitt.

I hope that the Fred! can pull off a miracle.
