Allah is playing down Drudge's latest - that the Dems can't wait to take on Huckabee in a general election. I wouldn't play it down. The guy governed in a Blue State for what, over eight years? He's already had an aide turn on him over the Dumond affair - as well as the parole board.
While often voting Republican for President, they don't see Democrats in Arkansas the same way conservatives do in the North, it's still as much Clinton Country as anything else. Who do you think knows where all the bodies are buried in Arkansas? Are they buried in Janet Huckabee Park? She ran for Secretary of State in Ark on the same ticket and lost, by the way. Remind you of anyone else? Then there are things like this. We'll be hearing a lot about Huckabee if he gets the nomination. And a lot of it won't be good. Below are just a few high low-lights from the last link above.
The dark side of Mike Huckabee
Come to Arkansas. You'll have to look hard to find a long-term political analyst who'd subscribe fully to the national media narrative about the latest man from Hope -- fresh face, funny, nice.
Mike Huckabee is fresh to you, maybe. Funny? If barnyard humor is your shtick of choice. Nice? Well, he did do some good things in his 10 years as governor, but ... read on.
... More important, Huckabee revealed an enduring weakness as glaring as that other Arkansas governor's fondness for women. Huckabee seems to love loot and has a dismissive attitude toward ethics, campaign finance rules and propriety in general. Since that first, failed campaign, the ethical questions have multiplied.
Truth is, we were happy to be thrown into the governor's briar patch. The world is full of disaffected Huckabee campaign workers, former employees and garden-variety Republicans who love to pass on tips about a governor they'd found self-centered and untrustworthy. If you think he left a well of warm feelings in Arkansas, note that Hillary Clinton had raised more money in Arkansas at last report and that a recent University of Arkansas Poll showed her a 35 to 8 percent leader over Huckabee in the presidential preferences of Arkansas residents. Only one-third of 33 Republican legislators have said they will support him for president.
Ask the retarded Fort Smith teenager, raped by her stepfather, who sought Medicaid funding for an abortion as federal law required. Huckabee stood in the hospital door, at least figuratively, to prevent state funding. Ask the gay people belittled by his cracks about "Adam and Steve." Ask the scientists who've seen evolution virtually disappear from the textbooks and classrooms of Arkansas with his administration's acquiescence.

This should be our mantra for the rest of primary season:
################################################
#----------------------------------------------#
# "A vote for Huckabee is a vote for Clinton." #
#----------------------------------------------#
################################################
Say it often.
Say it loudly.
Say it to everyone you meet.
################################################
#----------------------------------------------#
# "A vote for Huckabee is a vote for Clinton." #
#----------------------------------------------#
################################################
So say we all!

Huckabee is a disaster! If the Evangelicals get him nominated and then he loses big to Hillary, they will have A LOT to answer for from conservatives in this country. Huck is weak on immigration (despite his recent endorsement) and is a hugh fiscal liberal. No vote for him from me!

Christians need to WAKE UP and repent of this foolishness to support this guy. I have TOE JAM that is more intelligent and grounded upon conservative principles and values than this guy!
If we get caught in this man's trap - if indeed we do - and Hillary one-shot-kills him in the general election...
... the Christian political voice will be utterly meaningless and completely discredited from this point on.
My word people... (Huck supporters) ... could you possibly be any more foolish? WAKE UP!

Has your blog turned into the Huckabee attack machine? How many anti Huckabee stories can there be? Everywhere on the right blogosphere every piece of his record is being hyper analyzed. I guess it is his turn to take the beating. We already had Rudy, McCain, Romney, and now it is Huckabee's turn. All I can tell you is that this proves that he is now officially a player in the race. I personally look at all of this hyper analyzation with some skepticism since anyone's record can always be hyper analyzed and turned upside down. I am not supporting him however I do find the intense criticism fascinating. I was fascinated with a piece by Susan Estrich that also slammed him, here is how I wrote about it...

At least she is a Democrat. I am not sure what all the hostility from our side is all about.

You're not sure Mr. Volpe? I'm an evagelical, but I'm not stupid. He's a politician. When politicians start throwing "Jesus grenades" into every speech/ statement/ appearance, I go a big rubbery one. "True Christian?" What the hell does that mean? He's a politician! A Philistine if ever I saw one. If he gets the Republican nod, I wouldn't be surprised if his acceptance speech didn't include a damn burning bush. As a conservative, his record is abismal (pick an issue). Big gub'munt, soft on crime, hold hands & "golden rule" those that wish to murder every last one of us. And if'un you don't agree you ain't a Christ'un . And I'm from Texas for pete's sake. Huckabee for President!? How in the world could we out "Jimmy Carter" the democrats? Moreover, why in the blue hell would we want to?
I'm I the only Protestant in America that doesn't want want our very own Pope?
Jesus wept.

Dan, you have one-upped yourself on this one. Evolution is no longer being taught in Arkansas? Bullcrap. That's a lie, a dirty lie, and you know it. Although I'm sure there is some truth in some of the allegations against Huckabee, such as him being soft on immigration, I have no doubt, but you boys have outdone the Boob in your insanity.
I'll never look at this blog the same again. It has lost its lustre, and now has lowered itself to the DKos, Indymedia swamp style of blogging. You should be real proud, Dan. Your blog now sucks.
