Without debating the merits of his positions, as noted here and obviously on my blog, halfway through it, I said the last Republican debate would put Huckabee into the Top Tier.
Via Hot Air - according to Rasmussen, nationally-speaking, it has. The man communicates well. That may matter less to those of us who follow politics closely and prefer to dig as deep as possible into the candidate's policy stands, etc, but to most Americans, communication matters. I'd argue that in some ways it had more to do with Reagan's success than his conservatism. It certainly made Bill Clinton, who was a cipher when it came to ideology. And it might just make Huckabee, too, if the other contenders can't derail him. These kind of numbers attract money, which is what he needs most right now.
Date 12/01/07
Giuliani 24%
Huckabee 15%
Thompson 14%
Romney 10%
McCain 13%

While I like Rudy the best, let's face it, the debates would have been a yawn without Huck.

I watched them to see what sort of nuttiness Ron Paul came up with.
