Huckabee Hits New Bump That Tripped Up Mitt
Update: The info appears to be partially confirmed here - it does confirm the Novo Nordisk item:
Former Gov. Mike Huckabee, R-Ark.
Honoraria: $138,500.
Earned income (2006 and partial 2007 salary): $316,035.
Major assets: Bank and credit union accounts, stock, shares, money market fund and retirement account worth 297,008-$780,000; shares in 12 Stops Inc., set up to handle book royalties, worth $50,001-$100,000.
Major sources of unearned income: State of Arkansas pension, $14,101. Bank accounts and other investments earned $9,906-$27,000. Business income from shares in Troufion Radio Network, $9,657.
Major liabilities: None.
Narrative: Huckabee's income includes his $74,146 salary last year as governor and his $40,000 salary as an officer of 12 Stops Inc., $161,889 in book sales and royalties and $40,000 in consulting fees from the National Association of Music Manufacturers.
His honoraria, received through 12 Stops Inc., were for 15 speeches to groups, including the late Rev. Jerry Falwell's Liberty University and Thomas Road Baptist Church; Prestonwood Baptist Church, whose pastor is former Southern Baptist Convention President Jack Graham, and health groups and companies, including The Cooper Institute and Novo Nordisk.
His book is called "From Hope to Higher Ground: 12 STOPS to Restoring America's Greatness."
Huckabee also serves on the boards of The Cooper Institute of Dallas and medical networking company Flagship Global Health in New York.
Mitt Romney took a bit of a hit among Right to Lifers due to stock in Novo Nordisk held in a blind trust. Novo Nordisk is involved with embryonic stem cell research. It seems Huckabee received a total of $35,000 in honoraria from the same firm through 12 Stops, created for the distribution of one of his books. Some info here. But that amounts to only a small amount of almost $400,000 in compensation he's said to have received while still Governor of Arkansas.
The word on Huckabee is that he likes his money. I'm not sure people realize just how much, given the poor preacher image and all. He appears to have made several times his salary as Governor from outside business interests.
The Cooler has obtained documents that show Mike Huckabee received $378,000 in consulting fees during 2006, while he was still governor of Arkansas.

It’s also the Hypocrisy and double standard at play here. Romney gets blamed even though his trust was intentionally “blind.” But Huckabee can take multiple payments directly from a company that kills babies to cure a disease that Huckabee has – and that’s OK! Oh, and they can distribute books for him too.
For Christians, IT IS OUTRAGIOUS!!!
Novo Nordisk has won repeated awards for being the most liberal company in Denmark -- the most liberal country in the world!
