If Huckabee, who sounds more like John Edwards when he's telling the truth and now appears to handle controversy like Bill Clinton, slips past enough single issue voters to win the Republican nomination, it'll end any claim Republicans have on the notion of conservatism. This below is one of Reagan's more notable quotes, anyone who has looked closely at Huckabee knows two things for certain, if little else, he believes in Jesus but he is the anti-Reagan when it comes to government meddling in one's life.
"The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help.'"
If a man who sounds more like John Edwards than Ronald Reagan gets the Republican nod, the Grand Old Party can kiss small government types, fiscal conservatives and libertarians goodbye.
Small-government Republicans in Arkansas, who fought the governor over immigration, education spending and taxes, have long complained that he is really a closet welfare-liberal. As a presidential candidate, he has all but declared war on big-business Republicans, believing the standard GOP mantra of tax cuts and unfettered free markets has made the rich richer at the expense of ordinary Americans. At times he can sound like John Edwards, promising health care for low-income children and vowing to defend wage earners against Wall Street greed and runaway CEO pay."
And now this below. Just what the Republicans need - a candidate who wants to debate what the definition of is is. I thought we already had one of those who happens to come from Hope. Huckabee, a former preacher didn't really leave the pulpit, when you pull back the mask, he's proselytizing Big Government instead of God. The scariest thing about Huckabee is that when you look closely at his record, Ron Paul almost starts to make a lot of sense.
REALITY CHECK 2 – Gov. Huckabee on Fox News Sunday today:
"Chris, I didn't say that we should quarantine. I said it was the first time in public health protocols that when we had an infectious disease and we didn't really know just how extensive and how dramatic it could be and the impact of it, that we didn't isolate the carrier."
What Huckabee wrote on his questionnaire:
"If the federal government is truly serious about doing something with the AIDS virus, we need to take steps that would isolate the carriers of this plague. It is difficult to understand the public policy towards AIDS. It is the first time in the history of civilization in which the carriers of a genuine plague have not been isolated from the general population, and in which this deadly disease for which there is no cure is being treated as a civil rights issue instead of the true health crisis it represents."Dictionary.com: quar-an-tine (noun) a strict isolation imposed to prevent the spread of disease.

If the Repubs pick Huckleberry, I'll sit the next one out.

Huckabee is a flash and the pan and may carry Iowa, and possibly make some waves in South Carolina... but after that he is unelectable.
And in a freak situation where he gets the nom and runs against Hillary, he'll be destroyed in the general election.
I really wish that the "evangelical" voters would wake up and choose the only consistent conservative candidate (Fred!) and not get caught up in Huckabee's preacher "cred".

Right now evangilicals are getting insulted and thrown aside by the Republicans. If they think they can win on money issues alone, go for it, but to toss aside and insult half your base is stupid. And unfit Mitt will not rally evangelicals. All is lost, I'm afraid.

Mike Huckabee like all craw fishers is totally committed to getting out of tight spots his former words have created for him.
He starts to him haw immediately when asked an embarrassing question about some position he has either taken or supported.
He is slick Willy all over again.
