Huck-amania Running Wild But In Reverse

There seems to be no end to the negative stories coming out about former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee today.

A dangerous hunter?

Taking money from sources that could get him into trouble with Right to Life groups?

Not knowing his butt from his elbow on International affairs?

I guess the blush is off the rose as far as the media and Huckabee are concerned. Romney's ground game in Iowa should either give him a win, or a closer second than what some may be thinking. By Super Tuesday, I imagine Huckabee will be done. But it remains unclear how the rest of the race will play out.

When will someone finally stop being the shrinking violet and ask George Allen to run. I mean, there we have a true man of the people.

George Allen is truly suited to be president. He bravely stood up and welcomed that ungrateful brown fellow to America. He is a hero and a patriot.

Now we had a flow going here guys... but good ol' racist Bob had to take time from his Klan meeting to dig on the "brown folks" and thus ruin the lovely floral metaphor.

Tsk, tsk, tsk. Bad Bob, no more gum'mint porridge for you tonight.

And now to set this to right:

"Roses are red,
and violets are blue;
Liberals belch forth rhetoric,
but they've got no clue."

As for Mr. Huckawon'tbee... he seems to showing his true colours now, and is at best a one trick pony that has beguiled the less thoughtful Evangelical crowd (namely, the folks who sign over thier paychecks to Benny Hinn and his ilk of charlatans).

Things are looking up though, because once all the mud has been slung and the Huckaboom has become the Huckabust, we can look forward to either a brokered convention, or Huck and Mitt have bludgeoned themselves badly enough so that Fred! and McCain are the two best standing.

And with McCain's record of peeing all over the GOP base, it would be a matter of time until Fred gets the nom!

LlamaBoob is obsessed with Allen. It may be simple hate, but is probably unrequited love. Poor Boob.

Mr. Huckabee is learning how it works when you're the Official Candidate of the Deprecated Minority, the minority in this case being Evangelical Christian. Bigoted slurs against Evangelicals are not just permissible, they're obligatory.

This is not to excuse Mr. Huckabee, whose performance has been shallow and filled with mistakes. Rather, it's to point out that if a Deprecated Minority (D.M.) candidate is to win, he's got to be head and shoulders above his competitors, not just even with them (and heaven defend the D.M. who is sloppier than his foes!)

An Evangelical can win a national election; in fact, one did, twice (George W. Bush.) But if one is to do it again, he'd better be smart, well-financed, and very, very precise.

Now let's be fair. All of the Democrat candidates have made factual flubs at least as egregious as Mr. Huckabee's, but have been given a pass by the press. Republicans just, plain have to be better. This isn't fair, but it's fact.

(Unrelated to this topic, please visit my political blog, "Plumb Bob Blog: Squaring the Culture," at http://www.plumbbobblog.com. Thanks.)

"And with McCain's record of peeing all over the GOP base, it would be a matter of time until Fred gets the nom!"

Yeah, you might want to check the poll numbers on that. Grampa Fred is sitting at a whopping 2% in NH, with about 1/4th the popularity of everyone's favorite anti-war Republican, Ron Paul.

"An Evangelical can win a national election; in fact, one did, twice (George W. Bush.)"

And I've got about the same evangelical creds as George Bush. Let's see the checklist of evangelical mandates he's accomplished? Prayer back in schools? Nope. Abortion outlawed? Nope. Constitutional Amendment Banning Gay Marriage? Failed. Porn? Not going anywhere. Legally discouraging Divorce or Separation? Not even mentioned. Terri Shavo legislation? Dead.

Bush won in '00 as an oil man who would cut your taxes. He won in '04 because OMFG Terrorists! Evangelicals got table scraps in the form of faith-based initiative kickbacks and lots of preaching from the Presidential pulpit, but they continue to remain foot soldiers in the Republican Revolution. Huckabee would throw that on its ear.

And how would Huckabee do anything different?

The POTUS can (and Bush did) work toward accomplishing each of the objectives you say were denied or otherwise failed... they failed not because of Bush, but because the American people are perfectly happy with murdering unborn babies, sodomite marriage, euthanasia, state sponsored atheism (which in itself could be a violation of the Establishment Clause), pornography and divorce-on-demand.

And since wickedness prevails in the hearts of men and their elected representatives, DemCong socialism and evil policies prevail.
