Could it be that Huckabee ad? OOoooo. See, while I can't defend Huckabee's obfuscation, hence I can't defend his ad - I can defend the principle.
link:
"They're horrified by both the Democratic and Republican rhetoric surrounding religion -- that people who are not religious ... are immoral, that they're not qualified to serve in public office," he said.
While we have separation between church and state, it's also gone too far. The state should not be constricting religion, either. We are founded on religious freedom, not freedom from religion. So, this argument is a crock - just more typical secular, liberal drool.
If someone wants to run for president and prominently display his or her religion, it shouldn't be a big deal. Hell, if a POTUS wants to have a cross on the wall behind them in those Oval Office vids, he or she should. It should not be an issue as it is a display of said individual's personal faith, not some statement that should cause fear that the state is going to mandate one religion.
That's also why the Huckabee ad steams me even more. When someone resorts to deception to invoke faith into politics, it only sets the issue back. If he didn't have something to hide, why be so conniving? In the end, Huckabee's tactics and lame excuses suggest a significant character flaw. I prefer honesty when it comes to politicians and also on issues of faith.
Lord knows they're hard enough to come by as it is.

docweasel is saying this business is not a cause celebre but a cause rien. And he would be right if they would have said yes it's a cross showing Mike's religious beliefs. Take it or leave it. But nnnooo we have to be stirred up by denials of something obvious. Remember the Norris ad? It was heartbreakingly stupid but we just moved on.

Faith has always been and will continue to be a part of politics until the democrats install a communist government. Then even you will be hiding in the shadows to avoid the hangman. Faith is not banned by the constitution, only a state driven/designated 'religion' is banned.

More than anything else it was Romney's speech.

The ONLY deception is in your own mind (and Fred B.'s, apparently). There are ornaments sitting on the shelf in the cubbyhole bookshelf! You're sounding as sane as someone claiming fire can't melt steel.
