The Democrats Torturous Decline
Liberal Democrats always end up shooting themselves in the foot. It's almost torture to watch. For all of its own pathetic posturing, even the WaPo supports Mukasey. But the Democrats see no problem in using serious issues for short term political gain by being on the wrong-side of an issue.
When the short-sighted political hacks, which now includes Andrew Sullivan, get done with the torture issue, it'll turn out that the Bush administration neither advocated or used torture any more than would have a Democrat administration under the same circumstances. And it's silliness like this that ultimately results in a slight majority of American people not being able to trust Democrats when it comes to national defense. That, more than any other issue, will continue to haunt them in 2008.
The too-powerful and too-liberal Left Wing of the Democrat Party is the albatross around the donkey's neck. And they choke on it everytime.
Clinton, Clinton, Obama and Schumer. They have all, to a greater or lesser degree, embraced the concept of coercive interrogation (some, even torture — which is unquestionably illegal), and they have all underscored the excruciating complexity of this issue. Somehow, they are fit to lead the Democratic Party but the suitability of Mukasey — who has taken a more measured stance — to be attorney general is in doubt? What am I missing here?

Mukasey wants some facts before he offers his opinion. How can anyone support that kind of foolishness.
