Here is the seven minute 911 call prior to and including Joe Horn's leaving his house to take out the perps ripping off his neighbor's house. The case is expected to test Texas' self defense law. Horn is 72. Maybe they should call it a crime prevention law, instead? ymmv
At about 2pm Wednesday, Joe Horn called 911 from inside his Pasadena home. He says he saw two men break into his neighbor's house. Horn tells police that he is armed with a shotgun.

Nobody can claim the shootings were in "self-defense." That's laughable.
The question is whether they were legal anyway. He may not like the answer.

Second hand details here.
I am reading that the only question is of the nature that he shot the perps in his yard not a structure as is in the Texas law, however it is also not excluded.
Also I read there was a 2nd 911 call after the shooting and some say the cops were near arrival and the perps charged the man with the shotgun (brilliant move there) and he may have a case for self defense outside the home castle laws.
Stronger home protection laws have been the reaction to the dramatic rise in home invasion cases so in essence the perps and their ilk ruined the deal they had going for themselves by their own actions.
For many years we had the general trend of reductions of when a person could protect themselves in the event of an attack.
Sure I don't agree with shooting someone for trying to boost your car stereo (well at least fatally shooting , a little rock salt in the butt might help get their attention or bird shot) but I have no issue with someone holding a 9mm on them till the police arrive to arrest the perps.
