Update: Rudy's campaign has issued the following statement:
“There is no room for this sort of thing in politics. Our campaign does not support or engage in these types of tactics and it is our hope other campaigns will adhere to the same policy.”
Amid reports that there may be anti-Romney push poling going on in Iowa, Allah asks:
Exit question: Whodunnit?
Perhaps impossible to say but as Allah notes, McCain has called for an investigation and a deeper search does offer one link to Rudy. Enter Republican Rich Tarrant, who ran for the Senate in Vermont.
Western Wats did what some described as push poling for him in that campaign.
Vermont Seven Days: Have Political “Push Polls” Finally Arrived in Vermont?
Perhaps relevant, Tarrant even managed to tick off John McCain with another potentially dubious campaign tactic.

But not Rudy. From an otherwise obnoxious comment here. And assuming the Vermont-based Rich Tarrant listed here is the same guy, the support appears to be mutual.
He (Rudy) even endorsed Rich Tarrant as someone with anti-terrorism expertise.
It's far from conclusive, but one can put Rudy, Western Wats and push poling together through Tarrant. But given the ugliness of it, Allah's question holds: Whodunnit?

Two questions: Why is it taking so long to figure out what 527 or campaign is behind this? Also, even if some other group commissioned the call isn't Western Wats likewise responsible for the bigoted comments made in the call?!?
