Drudge and The Politico are headlining a new poll but breaking it down, there's no there there.
Clinton tops Obama among African-Americans
The poll was conducted by The Joint Center For Political And Economic Studies, here's their take. Does that headline sound like advantage Clinton to you?
Senators Clinton, Obama Well Ahead of the Pack in the Minds of Likely African American Primary Voters
Based upon the details, they never asked anyone for whom they might vote and only asked how people felt about the candidates. There was no difference between Clinton and Obama among Black males and only a slight difference among Black females. And if you actually read it, Iraq is more important to Black Americans than health care. That could easily benefit Obama more than Hillary given their respective positions once they start campaigning in states where the Black vote might matter in the primary. It won't in Iowa and New Hampshire.
Hillary Clinton. Hillary Clinton received the highest favorable ratings of any of the presidential candidates with 83 percent of black likely voters rating her favorably and only 9.7 percent rating her unfavorably. Among the black likely voters interviewed there was a significant gender gap in feelings toward Hillary Clinton. Black women were overwhelmingly favorable to Senator Clinton, 86 percent favorable to seven percent unfavorable, while black men rated her somewhat less favorably, 78 percent favorable to 15 percent unfavorable.
Barack Obama. Barack Obama was rated quite favorably by likely black voters with 74.4 percent rating him favorably and 10.1 percent rating him unfavorably. There were no differences between black men and women on Sen. Obama.
