Oof! Fred Fred Fred
If you're going to take credit for a call from the POTUS to shepherd a nominee through committee, ya gots to remember who controlled said committee, dude. It's worse, as he was attempting to use that bit to display his reach across the aisle cred.
“The president called me up and asked me to help shepherd judge John Roberts’ nomination through the Senate confirmation process. I was honored that I got that call. I was honored that he thought I had enough friends on the Democratic side that they wouldn't run me out of town!
“We fought hard against each other, but I always thought that we had mutual respect. And that's what it takes.
“Even though the other party controlled the Judiciary committee, we got some votes there. For a good, sound, what I would call conservative justice.”

Arlen Specter was the chairman so it's easy to understand why he's confused.

I think you're being a bit harsh there Dan. Thompson was called upon specifically to "work with" the Dems in Judiciary because he served with alot of them when they did control it. I think you're parsing a bit too much here.

PS The comment about Arlen is certainly appropriate though. The way the Judiciary Committee was run, it almost was like the minority party called the shots in there.

Ok patriots, begin practicing. PRESIDENT Hillary Clinton, PRESIDENT Hillary Clinton. Well done. Now get back to getting the 'facts' on Vince Foster.

What a sad, befuddled old fool. Fred? should stick to golf, early-bird specials at Red Lobster and reruns of Matlock.

"What a sad, befuddled old fool.."
Looked in the mirror this morning, eh, chris. But remember, you can count on SSI payments to get you through. Of course, when you are on SSI, that means you have to shop at Wal-Mart. Hahaha! Enjoy your retirement, nutroot.

Retirement? I think you are obsessed with your own laziness. Enjoy your time in Arkansas in your palace-on-wheels.

Thank you, chris/Boob, I will, knowing I won't be seeing little sugar-britches like you hanging around. That makes me very happy about my choice for a retirement home. As for a palace-on-wheels, no thanks, I prefer my ranch-style brick home. And speaking of lazy, are you still the Mexican help coordinator in your tenement? Hahaha! I bet that job has a really nice retirement. Six figures, right? If you include the cents. LOL!
