Not Buying It On AQ Leak

Rusty at the Jawa Report posts why at least some of the information circulating about our Intel on Al Qaeda on the web is dubious. That a government leak, or blunder messed up our Intel gathering capabilities fits much of our thinking and most press narratives perfectly. And I'd wager that's just fine as far as our real spooks are concerned. Question: Did the public know about the recent Israeli raid into Syria before it happened? We now know it was on the radar behind the scenes for months.

That means that the White House had a translation of the video a full 24 hours before SITE intercepted it. Apparently, our intel guys are better than we thought.

There are secrets, than there are secrets, and than there are double sooper secrets we never find out until many years later in these sorts of deals. I never read any story on spies and spying without assuming there's far more I don't know after reading what someone decided we could know. And there's no better way to get AQ chattering on the Web than making them think that we have no clue where they are just now.

I'm with Rusty on this one.
