Election Central at TPM has a scoop they are touting as an exclusive:
I've just learned that nearly 90 members of the House of Representatives have now added their names to a letter to the President pledging not to vote for any more funding for the war and only to vote for supplementals that fully fund withdrawal and nothing else.
Let's see, number of Representatives in the House - 435
Actual number signing the surrender letter - 87 - only 17 added since the same stunt in July
Number that haven't signed - 348, or about 80% of the House.
Victory in Iraq - priceless.
TPM's scoop, not so much, if you're an anti-war liberal, of course.

Wow, 20%. Thats about as many mouth-breathers out there that still 'support' the Cowardly Male Cheerleader.
Another victory! Congratulations, heroes!

Killings decline in western Baghdad neighborhood

RELEASE No. 20071010-05

Killings decline in western Baghdad neighborhood
Multi-National Division – Baghdad PAO
BAGHDAD – After more than 20 months of violent insurgent activity, Septembermarked the first month that there were no murders within the western Ameriya neighborhood of the Iraqi capital.
“Murder has been an effective insurgent tactic in Ameriya and groups like
al-Qaeda have capitalized on it as a method to terrorize the local populace,” said2nd Lt. Evan Howell, a staff officer with 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, who, together with Iraqi Security Forces, provides security for the area. “Earlier this year we were recording almost two a day and since late 2005 murder events were as commonplace as buying groceries in Ameriya.”
Ameriya has already recorded similar decreasing trends with indirect fire,
and a rise in the detection of weapons caches and improvised explosive device discoveries, Howell said.“Stopping murders was a top priority for this battalion,” Howell said. “A zero monthly murder count combined with a record number of weapons caches and IED finds leads to the overwhelming conclusion that Ameriya has become a safe and secure neighborhood. This is probably one of the greatest successes of this battalion’s endeavor to protect the neighborhood of Ameriya.”

Hey I don't see anything for the neo-cons to celebrate. Democrats are just trying to resolve the screw ups presented by the current moron in chief. If my dog shits in the floor, I clean it up -- when George W. Bush the Republican fucks up the world, I clean it up. Doesn't mean I think George Was right to fuck up the world, just means I'm going to try to fix things.

Greetings,
Yes, victory (or the chance of victory) has many fathers - increasingly fathers from the Democratic Party. And failure has only one. As we continue to suceed in Iraq, expect more and more mothers and fathers to proudly proclaim, "Of course I always supported the troops and knew they could win!" Fairweather politicians. . . .
We have been at this Counter Insurgency for 4 years - 2013 is 6 years away (not even the Dem Pres. Candidates promised to be out by then.) 10 years. Wait, where have I heard that number before? Ah, yes - the historical amount of time it takes to defeat an insurgency is 10 years. Looks like with Anbar, Diyala, the Kurdish Provinces, and the Shia Provinces around Basra that we are way ahead of schedule!
Regards,

Bill,
I had no idea you were in Ameriya helping clean up the neighborhood. Thank you for you service.
God Bless America.
If you have some time could you relate some of your experiences from Iraq? Always good to hear first hand from veterans of the war.

Bill Adkins demonstrates his prowess at rhetoric and persuasive argument as a pistol-packing (at least in his drawer, next to the flask) attorney by his powerful use of expletives and words that evoke images of excrement and sexual immorality.
Well done! Keep it up, and you'll get a speaking gig at Columbia like your hero Ahmadinejad any day now.

Don't think, liberal pinko moonbats --- that your annointed Queen Hillary will budge her troops out of Iraq. She WILL finish the job which the Dubya began... and she knows FULL WELL that the Dubya's plan works.
Furthermore, she'll do no better than to take full credit for it in 2012 (for "recovering US Foreign Policy from the brink of GOP disaster, etc. etc.") when she's up for re-election, and building up her own legacy for when daughter Chelsea decides to do a NY congressional run in 2014, or a senate run in 2016 (she turns 35 in 2015).
I admit I don't care much for her Machiavellian sense of politics or her complete selling out of her soul to the Prince of Darkness, but she is as smart as a whip.
Whoever she has for a campaign adviser might well be the Democrats' answer to Karl Rove.

Who says the surge can't change the political situation on the ground in Iraq? Look what it's doing here, and we don't have a single soldier deployed in Congress.

I love BobinStamford's and Bill's posts. They always remind me of that old saying, "God looks out for children and fools."
So, Bob and Bill, which are you? Children? Or fools?

Bill Adkins
Your post is embarrassing. Where have you been for the past month? Iraq has turned. The party that voted for a war and then undermined it throughout for partisan purposes ain't gonna get a sniff in 08.
Calling the architect of a successful COIN strategy a liar is going to blow back on Rodham Clinton like you wouldn't believe when it becomes apparent Petraeus was in fact understating the progress.
Whatever mistakes were made by the Bush administration would have been magnified tenfold if the Dems had been in charge. We got a glimmer of that with Pelosi playing dhimmi in Syria and slow Joe Biden, proposing that Iraq be partitioned, when every survey has shown Iraqis don't want to break up their country.
No doubt this war has been more difficult than most anticpated. But it's gone down about how anyone familiar with American history would have predicted. If you were an insurgent why would you give up with the Copperheads threatening to set a date certain for withdrawal (defeat)?
I suggest you clean up the mess within your traitorous party before you claim to be prepared to clean up the nation's mess. Your party is a big part of the nation's mess.

It is so revealing to see the dark side poo-poo when we (and Iraq) are winning. Dorks.

The victories keep mounting. The brown people are clearly in retreat. Wait - where can they retreat to - it's THEIR country. It matters not. The noble invaders now control nealy HALF of Baghdad. VICTORY is in the air!

" The brown people are clearly in retreat. Wait - where can they retreat to - it's THEIR country. It matters not. The noble invaders now control nealy HALF of Baghdad. VICTORY is in the air!"
-------
So tell me boob, who are these brown people who preoccuppy you so? Are they the vast majority of Iraqis who want to live in peace or are they tiny minority of terrorists who don't want Iraqis to have the opportunity to live in a democracy and subject to the rule of law, rather than the rule of dictators.
And why is it boob that you support the latter and oppose the aspirations of the former. Are you really that stupid? Or are you an Islamist?
Boob. You've been wrong about the Surge throughout. Victory and peace will come to Iraq (and the brown people you hate) long before you get a clue.

If you think BobinStamford is upset now, just wait. As time goes on, and Iraq becomes pacified, he's going to go insane.

Funny thing, every time RacistBob opens his maw, only foolish things come out.
Chew on this: Those "brown" Iraqis (and related kin, the Iranians) are much closer to being true Aryans than any white boy this side of the Atlantic. In fact, they belong to the Caucasoid race, sharing a number of the same genetic markers as Mediterranean Europeans, some Slavs, southern Teutons, Turks, Kazakhs, some Russian/Byelorussian groups and get this - Finns. From Finland.
The "Aryans" that Hitler had fantasies about - the long-limbed square chinned blond/blue Nordic types - are more distantly related the Indo-Aryans like the typical "brown people" you hate so much. They are more closely related to the Celts, and were isolated from the main Indo-Aryan phenotypes once they crossed over to occupy the Scandinavian nations.

Several of the posters here predicted that the dems would paint themselves into a corner by opposing the Iraq war...I picture Hillary, wearing a dunce cap and holding a paint brush, facing the corner in a bright blue room.
After 9/11, Bush's move into Iraq was logical, and the world is better for it. The dems, still pissed from the 2000 election, nonetheless supported the invasion when it was proposed, reflecting the overwhelming support of the American public (and the evidence). When the going got tough in the war, they put politics above all else, and attempted to depict our efforts and intentions as not only wrong, but criminal.
Many of us held strong. We upheld our values and we supported our leadership. We hold on still.
Now is the time in Dan's World when we laugh. Hey Boobs, et. al.,..ssshhhhhh...the surge worked.
BWaaahaaaa!!!! liberals suck.

It's creepy, the near-total uniformity of expression among lefties.
When you read conservatives' posts, you can tell they were written by different people.
Liberals' posts, on the other hand, all seem to have been produced by one coprolalic teenager who lacks the wit to come up with anything but thudding, ham-fisted snarkiness you've heard 48 billion times already.
When was the last time a leftist anywhere on the planet said anything original? Maybe during the French Revolution?

Gee, Democrats are SO racists.
They always talk about the color of people.
For them people are categorized according to their shade.
How disgusting.

"Democrats are just trying to resolve the screw ups presented by the current moron in chief."
And so it begins!! GWB, alone without any help from the dims in congress, messed up everything since 1948. However, when HildaBeast takes over with her demonrat congress the insurgents will head for the hills. I mean given thier respect for women, especially those in authority. The demonrats will "win" the war because they're smarter than everybody.
Got news for ya kids. The outcome of this misadventure will be the same no matter who is in the whitehouse.

"Gee, Democrats are SO racists.

Yes. They do categorize people according to their shade. And this is one way they obtain power. They convince the "brown people" or the "black people" or any other "people of color" that they are different, and not-as-good-as, and therefore discriminated against - all because of their race. Therefore, according to the Democrats, these unfortunate people-of-color NEED the Democrats to be their saviours, to go to bat for them, to level the playing field, to make the rest of the cruel, unfair world "give back" to them. Because there is just no way these not-as-good-as people could be capable of accomplishing anything on their own, without outside help.
Does anyone really think this kind of thinking could possibly be constructive? Empowering in any way?
Yet it is the Democrats/liberals always pointing fingers and crying "racist"!
And yes. It is disgusting.

80% of the senate supports the liberation of Iraq and freedom and democracy for Arabs?
Awwww, sucks to be a racist, anti-war extremist.
