So, I decided to visit Democrats.Senate.gov and have a look at the letter Harry Reid used in a weak grand standing ploy today.
‘Our troops are fighting and dying to bring to others the freedoms that many take for granted.
Freedom from whom, or what, Senator Reid? And, as you've now admitted our troops are indeed freedom fighters on behalf of the oppressed, what is it about Iraqis that causes you to be of the opinion that they are not entitled to the same freedoms which you believe Americans take for granted? Is it their religion, or perhaps the color of their skin?
You've been trying to pull the carpet out from under our brave freedom fighters in Iraq for almost two years at the same time many of them have re-enlisted knowing they'd immediately rejoin the fight. What do you have to say to those brave Americans, Senator Reid? You've said nothing positive to them ever, so far as I can recall. Would you prefer Armed Forces Radio carry your pronouncement that their valiant effort has already failed? Tell me, how is that supporting our troops?

He must have had a very brief lifting of his "brain cloud". I'm sure he'll be back to normal tomorrow.

this is pretty precious too...

Biden - the inadvertant uniter:
"He expected the reply to be in "the form of a statement by the Iraqi parliament on this issue in view of the fact that enacting a legislation could take a long time."
He pointed out that the matter does not even require enacting a law because the content of the American resolution flagrantly interfered in Iraq's internal affairs, let alone its violation of the Iraqi constitution.
Qadou noted that the Iraqi constitution guarantees the country's "territorial integrity and national sovereignty," adding the Congress' resolution "can never change Iraq's settled national principles."
He said the U.S. resolution "only aimed to cause Iraq to slide into the pits of a civil war only God knows when it will end."
"It is the duty of all the national powers (in Iraq) to reject such an insolent resolution and to quickly announce their positions in the face of this trivializing with the sovereignty of Iraq," he said."

Reid undoubtedly has temporarily run out of crack. Give him at least enough time to meet his dealer, and he'll be back to normal in no time.

Maybe he was not talking about American troops. I frankly cannot tell who he considers his troops.

For those of us who pay attention, this is just wildly inconsistent for Reid. However, the career politicians are still playing to the MSM where no quote lasts longer than two or three sentences and is typically one or less than one.
Here's a homework assignment for you. As you watch CNN or any of the others, write the transcript in your head and see how much of Harry Reid's (or anyone else's for that matter) speech is shown. I'll bet they don't give anyone more than 10-15 seconds.
The MSM-watching public doesn't get enough data to assemble the incongruities from Reid. Otherwise, he'd poll in the low teens, he's such a total, pandering idiot.

" A word means exactly what I want it to mean, no more and no less."
Harry 'Dumpty' Reid

To quote Joseph Welch in June 1954,
"Have you no sense of decency, sir? At long last, have you left no sense of decency?".
While Senator Reid is no Joe McCarthy, his obstinacy in the face of overwhelming evidence is almost beyond belief.

"A word means exactly what I want it to mean, no more and no less."
A young friend of mine, a newly minted lawyer and a fine man in all respects, once made a similar statement to me. "Judges and lawyers determine what words mean." This is why David Boies told the Chief Justice of the Florida Supreme Court in the Bush/Gore election fight, "It depends on how we define 'all the votes.'" He wanted the judge to agree that the two of them could redefine "all the votes" to mean something other than all the votes. This is called attempted judicial activism. In this case the court did not agree to this absurdity.

The underreported collosal fuck up in reid's speech was when he called rush "unpatriotic."
Does he think its a good idea to start a discussion of our patriotism? Does he think he will come out of that discussion looking good?

I've seen some pitiful exhibitions in my time, but Reid and Harkin about take the cake.

This whole ordeal must be very 'painful' for the sensitive, again-bloated Rush. I wonder if he has any medication for the PAIN.

Pain is always treatable Chris. Unfortunately for you, stupid isn't.
Posted by: Purple Avenger | Tuesday, October 02, 2007 at 09:41 AM
As on of the "troops", it sickens me that he uses the possessive "Our". I'm not one of his troops. I wouldn't piss on him if he were burning alive.

Maybe Senator Reid was referring to International Answer, the SWP, MoveOn and Code Pink. They are out there everyday fighting and usually have one die-in at every protest.

PA, a lobotomy would be a good treatment for chris' stupidity.

Standby for the Limbaugh show and the phony "combat" soldier Harkin expose.
Reid must have suffered a blinding as he was writing. Hatred does this to you.

Whooo, an EXPOSE on Tom Harkin. Perhaps he was the one addicted to hilbilly heroin, had anal cysts and liked to travel to the Dominican Republic with copious amounts of oxycontin while the ever-patriotic Rush was in the Navy for 6 years.

As a retired Viet Nam Veteran, I'm MUCH more offended by the Jesse Macbeths and Tom Harkins of the world than I am by entertainers that don't gild their resumes with phony service claims.
And be careful Chris...
Would you want someone to come take a close look at your glass house?

Reid really has become an embarrassment to Nevada. Up here in NE Nevada the few votes he does get are from people with jobs dependant on his stance against mining law reform. Whatever ones opinion on mining law the Senator has likely run out his welcome in this and a few other parts of the State. Look for him to have a VERY difficult time living down his words at the next election.

i doubt it, boyd. the casinos seem to be happy with their bought-n-paid-for boy reid. since the last guy to seriously challenge him was - surprise! - a *casino exec's kid* - and there seem to be no more sons of casino execs interested in being senators, who will be allowed to run against harry? a dogcatcher?
with reid and his casino cash on one side; and ed the dogcatcher and his 50 bucks on the other, who would likely win?
Posted by: bloodrage bob | Tuesday, October 02, 2007 at 11:49 AM
I would run against Harry. I'm sure I have a few fans living in Nevada who would vote for me. Especially if I were to go to Iraq and see the troops.

Ever notice how Surveyusa.com runs approval ratings for 'almost' every senator, but there isn't a peep about a poll of Harry's approval rating in NV?
He's got to be low 40's, high 30's...
2010 is a long way away, but the writing is on the wall. 'The war is lost' is going to be the millstone that snaps his neck.
