Halsey Frost And The Shameless Left
This may be interesting:
The Frosts joined the debate through family acquaintance Vinnie DeMarco, the president of the Maryland Citizens' Health Initiative. DeMarco introduced them to the pro-SCHIP organization Families USA, which put them in touch with Pelosi's office.
So who is Vinnie DeMarco? A busy lefty activist with more than the expansion of S-CHIP on his mind. He even has time to go after Wal-Mart, along with guns and higher taxes. He brags about changing the nation by beating on business here.
Around two years ago the Maryland Citizens’ Health Initiative (MCHI) stepped into the breach with the bold proposition that universal coverage could be achieved in Maryland. MCHI has been lucky to have as president of its board Peter Beilenson, Commissioner of Health for Baltimore City, one of the few prominent public health officials in the country to publically support comprehensive reform. And MCHI’s Executive Director, Vinnie DeMarco, is well known to many as a leading organizer of recent gun control and tobacco tax campaigns.
MCHI has some muscle. It has raised over a million dollars in foundation money. Its three full-time staff and many allies have now garnered the endorsement of over 1,400 organizations around the state, making those groups members of MCHI’s “Health Care For All” (HCFA) coalition.
Apparently Halsey Frost, father of Graeme Frost, sent an email to Time for their hit piece on conservatives. The man - maybe I should start using the term loosely - appears to have no shame. He either can't read, or has ignored many named individuals who have raised questions regarding why he doesn't mind pimping out his kid, and seems to not have felt compelled to pursue a path that would have supported his kids adequately, particularly as regards their health care.
Why doesn't he just admit he's a Leftist shill who appears to have remained in an intermittent occupation that didn't adequately support his family until he left them at the mercy of taxpayers, many of whom never had his advantages in life and lack his assets?
Based upon the facts we know - Halsey could have given up what appears to be either a failed, or marginal effort at being a wood worker and taken a job driving a bus in Baltimore, likely making as much money and qualifying for benefits. But he didn't want to do that, it seems. I mean, why worry? When you hang out with Leftists, is it any wonder you'd just figure someone else would foot the bill?
"My son Graeme has helped put on a human face, that of a young boy, representing the needs of children and families across this nation. We are a hard working family that has stepped forward to support SCHIP. Mudslinging from the fringe has now been directed at the messenger. To be smeared all over the Internet and receive nasty e-mail — my family does not deserve this retribution. It is both shameful and pathetic.
"Driven by a most dubious agenda, shortsighted cut-and-paste bloggers, lacking all the facts, have made a feeble attempt at being crack reporters. This is an aberrant attempt to distract the American people from what the real issues are. Hard working American families need affordable health insurance.
"I find it morally reprehensible, and the act of a true coward, to publicly (world wide) smear a man and his family and not sign one's own real name to what they have written. I sign my name to what I write.
-Halsey Frost"

I see you linked to the organization I work with, Wake Up Wal-Mart. I'd like to pick your brain on last week's WSJ poll showing conservatives may be growing apprehensive about free trade.

The safety of the foreign (china) products sold on American shelves seem to be a major concern.

Mark, I'm a conservative, and I have always had reservations about "free trade". It is hardly free when US goods are kept out, either by regulation or culture, yet their goods are allowed into the US with no problems. When I see really free trade, I'll let you know if I've changed my mind.

Say, Mark, is your Org. part of a union or does it receive funds from a union or union organization?

In Maryland, PIP auto insurance is voluntary. Instead of paying the PIP these two so called adults/parents left the taxpayers paying the bill.....Why didn't they pay the PIP? Why didn't they pay for the health insurance before the accident? What if the mother had hurt your kid in an auto accident and had no PIP on their insurance? Would any leftist be arguing that these two so called adults are responsible? I don't think so... This is what the left has descended to in this country...defending 30 year old children who don't want to take time out of their busy day to actually work for a living and pay their bills. BTW, all four kids are in private school!!!

I think MD PIP maxes out around ten grand, if so, it wouldn't have made much difference in this case.

Isn't it just like the left to malign anyone who exposes their lies? Swift boating has become a term to mean someone is running over someone but they never ever talk about how it was the truth. I don't think families who make $80K a year need my help to pay for thier kids medical bills! Give up the big house and drive a used car like the rest of us do!

I like how the "shameless right" spins the simple facts into a "hit piece on conservatives".
So let me get this straight, out of the 100 odd million or so people Americans who have no insurance, I take it there are no righties in that bunch?
So like, the guy is supposed to get a real job? Any suggestions? Like a right wing shill, spending most of his day puttering on the web, spouting hatred? As a woodworker, hate to say it, but he contributes far far more to society, and to our American economy, than you and your ilk do, which is seems bent on nothing less than the destruction of this great country. Y'all are bad for america.

"Leave it to Paul Krugman to nail you guys for the assholes you are:
"only a truly vicious political movement would respond by punishing their injured children."
And vicious idiots like Paul Krugman and his groupies continue to knowlingly lie and smear, characterizing any and all who raise legitimate questions about the Frosts to be guilty of "punishing injured children". It's a classic liberal attempt to silence debate.
